Note: For more information, you can also refer to the Support section of the U.S. Robotics
Web site at http://www.usr.com/support

Note: Your model number is 7924A. It is important that you have your serial number

written down before you install the 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. You can find your serial
number on the bottom label of the 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch and on the side of the
package. If you ever need to call our Technical Support department, you will need this number to
receive assistance.

complete. As connections are established with the 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch, the
corresponding LED lights will turn on. Repeat this step as needed for up to twenty three
additional devices.

Troubleshooting

My 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch is properly connected to my
Ethernet-ready device, but I still can’t establish a connection.

Possible Solution:

Verify you are using a known and reliable RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable. An old or unreliable
RJ-45 Category Ethernet cable could disrupt your connection. It may be necessary to replace your
RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

Possible Solution:

Check the LED status lights on your 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. If you don’t see any LEDs
lighted or blinking, it may be necessary to replace your RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

Possible Solution:

The length of your Ethernet cable between your 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch and your work­station or computer should not exceed 328 feet. Some power sources with strong electromag­netic fields may be causing interference.

Possible Solution:

It may be necessary to reconfigure the network settings of your operating system. Refer to your
operating system’s documentation regarding network configuration specifics.

My 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch is properly connected to my
Ethernet-ready device but my connection speed is slow.

Possible Solution:

Verify that your network adapter and/or additional Ethernet-ready device supports 100 Mbps. You
may be using a 10 Mbps device. To achieve 100 Mbps speeds, replace any 10 Mbps devices you
are using with 100 Mbps devices.

Possible Solution:

Check the LED status lights on your 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. If you only see blinking LEDs,
it may be necessary to replace your RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

Possible Solution:

Verify you are using a known and reliable RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable. An old or unreliable
RJ-45 Category Ethernet cable could diminish your link quality. It may be necessary to replace
your RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

Possible Solution:

The length of your Ethernet cable between your 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch and your
workstation or computer should not exceed 328 feet. Some power sources with strong
electromagnetic fields may be causing interference.

What kind of cables should I use?

Possible Solution:

The 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch may be used with an RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

Where is the uplink port?

Possible Solution:

Each port may be used as an uplink port since each supports auto-crossover. This means that
each port on the 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch automatically allows for connecting additional
hubs, switches, or routers with an RJ-45 Category 5 Ethernet cable.

U.S. Robotics' sole obligation under this express warranty shall be, at U.S. Robotics' option and expens e, to repair the defective
product or part, deliver to Customer an equivalent product or part to replace the defective item, or if neither of the two foregoing
options is reasonably available, U.S. Robotics may, in its sole discretion, refund to Customer the purchase price paid
for the defective product. All products that are replaced will become the property of U.S. Robotics. Replacement products may be
new or reconditioned. U.S. Robotics warrants any replaced or repaired product or part for ninety (90) days from shipment, or the
remainder of the initial warranty period, whichever is longer.
SOFTWARE: U.S. Robotics warrants to Customer that each software program licensed from it will perform in substantial conform­ance to its program specifications, for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of purchase from U.S. Robotics or its authorised
reseller. U.S. Robotics warrants the media containing software against failure during the warranty period. No updates are pro­vided. U.S. Robotics' sole obligation under this express warranty shall be, at U.S. Robotics' option and expense, to refund the pur­chase price paid by Customer for any defective software product, or to replace any defective media with software which

Dépannage

Mon commutateur 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch est correctement
connecté à mon périphérique Ethernet, mais je n'arrive pas à établir de
connexion.

Solution possible :

Assurez-vous d'utiliser un câble Ethernet RJ-45 de catégorie 5, reconnu et fiable. Un vieux câble
ou un câble non fiable pourrait perturber la connexion. Il peut s'avérer nécessaire de remplacer
votre câble Ethernet RJ-45 de catégorie 5.

Solution possible :

Vérifiez les voyants d'état sur votre commutateur 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. Si aucun
voyant n'est allumé ou ne clignote, il peut s'avérer nécessaire de remplacer votre câble Ethernet

Fehlerbehebung

Mein 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch ist vorschriftsmäßig an mein
Ethernet-bereites Gerät angeschlossen, aber ich kann trotzdem keine
Verbindung herstellen.

Lösungsvorschlag:

Überprüfen Sie, ob Sie ein vertrauenswürdiges, zuverlässiges RJ-45 Ethernet-Kabel der Kategorie
5 verwenden. Ein altes oder nicht zuverlässiges RJ-45-Ethernet-Kabel der Kategorie 5 kann
Verbindungsstörungen verursachen. Möglicherweise muss Ihr RJ-45 Ethernet-Kabel der Kategorie
5 ersetzt werden.

Lösungsvorschlag:

Überprüfen Sie die LED-Statusanzeigen an Ihrem 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch. Falls die LEDs
weder leuchten noch blinken, müssen Sie vermutlich Ihr RJ-45-Ethernet-Kabel der Kategorie 5
ersetzen.

Lösungsvorschlag:

Die Länge des Ethernet-Kabels zwischen Ihrem 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch und Ihrer
Workstation oder Ihrem Computer sollte nicht mehr als 100 m betragen. Stromquellen mit starken
elektromagnetischen Feldern können Störungen verursachen.

Lösungsvorschlag:

Möglicherweise müssen die Netzwerkeinstellungen Ihres Betriebssystems neu konfiguriert
werden. Lesen Sie in der Bedienungsanleitung für Ihr Betriebssystem unter dem Stichwort
"Netzwerkkonfiguration" nach.

Mein 24-Port 10/100 Ethernet Switch ist vorschriftsmäßig an mein
Ethernet-bereites Gerät angeschlossen, aber die Verbindungs­geschwindigkeit ist sehr langsam.

Lösungsvorschlag:

Überprüfen Sie, ob Ihr Netzwerkadapter und/oder zusätzliches Ethernet-bereites Gerät
100 Mbps unterstützt. Möglicherweise verwenden Sie ein 10 Mbps-Gerät. Um 100 Mbps zu
erzielen, ersetzen Sie alle 10 Mbps-Geräte durch 100 Mbps-Geräte.
