Field Cutting and Forming Panels

Step 3
Score panel face between these points with a sharp utility knife and straight edge.
Step 5
Snip the side edge of the panel at the ends of each score line.

Bend and break off the section to be discarded. Use a straightedge to avoid deforming the panel face.

Make a second score parallel to the first with 1to 3 between. Material between the score lines will be used to form a new side edge. The rest will be discarded.

Measure grid opening.

Transfer dimensions to panel.

Step 7
Use pliers to flatten the side edges of the remaining scored section.
Step 8
Use a hammer to finish flattening these side edges. Be careful not to mar the panel face.
Step 9a
Use a straightedge to bend up this flattened section at the score line. You may need to finish this step by hand to completely form the new side edge.
Step 9b Step 10
Mark where the new side edge extends beyond the panel perimeter.
Step 12a
Install field-cut panel.
Step 12b
Step 11
Trim away and discard this excess material.
Note:
Be especially careful when field-cutting panels that do not butt to a wall.
