Welcome to The Q™
Private Information: Secure, Protected, Convenient
Password overload, a common symptom of the information age, leads to security lapses as user names, passwords, and PINs are lost, forgotten, or written down and compromised in a variety of ways. "The Q™" offers the ultimate protection for access to sensitive and personal information on web sites. With a few clicks of the mouse, "The Q" encrypts and stores your private information. Then with the touch of a finger, "The Q" uses fingerprint biometrics to unlock your encrypted user names, passwords, and PINs. Whether you have 5 or 500 passwords to remember, now you can literally forget all of them and simply use your fingerprint instead!
"The Q" fingerprint identification is the simple to use, secure, and convenient alternative for logging on to your computer, web sites, and software programs. "The Q" does not substitute for existing Windows security but rather provides an association between a Windows user account and a fingerprint profile. Just remember, almost as important as the security of encryption is the convenience of not having to remember passwords any longer! All of your Internet and computer passwords are encrypted and then associated with an authorized fingerprint.
As it grows increasingly affordable, biometric technology is fast becoming the global standard for security and convenience because of its accuracy, reliability and simplicity.
"The Q" is designed to function on a single computer or on a single computer connected to a network. The fingerprint profiles are stored locally on the stand-alone computer and are used to log on to the local or networked Windows user account. U.S. Biometrics offers another password protection solution, called PassQ, that provides management of fingerprint profiles in a networked environment where authentication to many computers is required.
Benefits
Log on to your computer using unalterable fingerprint recognition.
Log on to multiple software packages and Internet web sites without having to remember
PINs and passwords.
Eliminate the security risks associated with writing down all of your passwords and PINs in
a non-secure fashion.
Take advantage of "Single Sign-On" capability. Once logged on to a computer, you can
automate the log on process for Internet web sites or software programs that require passwords and PINs.
Prevent the theft of your identity.
Control access to web sites and software programs using multiple Windows user accounts.
Enroll multiple fingerprint profiles to a single Windows user account.
Enroll a different fingerprint profile for different Windows user accounts.
Works with most web sites and software programs.
Easy to use and enroll fingerprint profiles.

Multiple People Using "The Q"
"The Q" is designed so that multiple people can use the product on the same computer. A general number to use as a limit is 10 individual fingerprints. The following scenarios describe how multiple people can use "The Q".
Multiple People – One Windows User Account
Multiple people may share a computer by using the same Windows user account. Individuals enroll their own fingerprint profile to the same Windows user account. This allows them to log on to the same computer. However, each person has access only to the web sites and applications associated with their fingerprint profile. "The Q" provides a function that allows people to share their recorded logon scripts with other users. You can also change the current user of "The Q" without logging off Windows.
Multiple People – Multiple Windows user account
Multiple people may share a computer by each using a different Windows user account. This provides a way of securing an individual's logon credentials and recorded logon scripts for web sites and applications. Individuals may log on to the same computer under their unique Windows user account. They may access only the web sites and applications associated with their fingerprint profile. "The Q" provides a function that allows people to share their recorded logon scripts with users of other Windows user accounts. You can also change the current user of "The Q" without logging off Windows.
To set up multiple Windows user accounts on a computer, see "Creating a Windows User Account" or your computer's documentation.

Creating a Windows User Account
Creating a Windows user account is specific to your computer and is not a function of "The Q".
US Biometrics strongly recommends that you set up a Windows user account in order to use "The Q" for logging on to the computer. You will then associate your fingerprint with the logon credentials for the Windows user account.
When you purchase a computer, there is usually a default user name, (e.g., Administrator, HP_Admin, etc.), and a blank password. US Biometrics does not recommend using the default user name and blank password configuration normally shipped with a new computer. For security reasons, this information should be changed at your earliest convenience. "The Q" does not replace existing computer security, but rather, provides an association between a Windows user account and a fingerprint profile.
CONSULT YOUR COMPUTER'S HELP SYSTEM FOR EXACT DIRECTIONS ON SETTING UP A WINDOWS USER ACCOUNT OR ADDING A PASSWORD TO AN EXISTING WINDOWS USER ACCOUNT.
