01. Before using Urive A5
The product is a secondary product for safe driving. It is designed to store video and audio information coming from
the front and rear cameras with touch LCD. It records driving and parking videos and information about car accidents
or impulses. This will provide relevant circumstantial reference data.

02. Precautions before using the product

Scope of warranty and responsibilities
-# This product is for assisting people in driving safely. The company will not be responsible for the loss that could occur because of
failures, data loss, or while using the product .

This product is an ancillary device designed for recording and storing external videos. Some functions may not be supported
depending on the driving conditions and the conditions of a vehicle itself. When it comes to the level of support for performance
that is to be provided through the updating of firmware for improving quality and securing stability, it may vary depending on the
types of products. Depending on situations, recording may not take place. Considering that, users need to use the product only
for getting information for checking driving-related videos. Recording may not take place also depending on the conditions of the
SD card .

This product is designed for recording the video related to an accident involving a user’s vehicle. However, it is not guaranteed
that the whole length of a video related to an accident is to be recorded. In case of an accident in which a minor shock occurs, the
detection sensor will not be activated, and, consequently, the video related to the event may not be recorded.

Precautions for using the memory card
-# Check the data once a week at least for confirming that the product’s operation is normal.

Format the micro SD memory card at least twice a month for stable use of the product.

Recommended to use a micro SD card that is exclusively designed for the product.

In general, memory cards are valid for a certain period of time (warranted for 6 months) and therefore storage of new data may be
disabled if the card had been in use for a long time. If this is the case, replace with a new card as the manufacturer is not liable for the
data loss.

03. Precautions when using the product
Warning! Not following the instructions can lead to serious injuries or even death.
This section is for your safety and for the proper use of the product to prevent safety accidents/risks. The manufacturer
shall not be responsible for problems caused by use of the product in violation of the instructions.
Do not use any damaged or modified power cable, and only
use a cable provided by the manufacturer. Any negligent
accident, such as an explosion or fire, may cause damage
to your vehicle or injury to yourself.
Make sure to use only the rated voltage. Any negligent
accident, such as an explosion or fire, may cause damage
to your vehicle or injury to yourself.
Do not plug or unplug the power cable with wet hands as
this may result in an electric shock.
It is recommended to install the black box on the glass
surface instead of tinting because it may be easily
removed.
Avoid any disassembly without permission or impulse. It
may cause damage or failure.
Make sure to remove the cable from the product if it will
be stored for a long time as keeping it intact may cause
discharged battery or fire. The user will be solely liable for
any damage to the product and vehicle.
Do not try to operate the product while driving. It may
result in an accident.

Warning! Not following the instructions can lead to serious injuries or even death.
Do not install it with power supply that is always on without
permission as this may cause product or vehicle failure.
Make sure to seek assistance from a qualified technician.
Make sure that the product does not affect visibility as it may
cause an accident.
Make sure to keep the front and back windshields clean for
the lenses. Foreign and other matters may impede good
recording of driving video.
Make sure the double-sided tape is fully adhered. Otherwise,
the position may be changed because of long-term use or
vibration, thus degrading performance.
Make sure to use genuine Urive products and parts. We
are not liable for any failure or damage from using any
ungenuine product or part.
Do not try to operate the LCD screen with a sharp object as
it may damage the surface of the LCD or touch panel.
Pay attention when using and inserting / taking out a
microSD card. Make sure to press and hold the power
switch for 5 seconds or more, or remove the cable to turn it
off before inserting or taking it out.
Make sure to avoid any direct sunlight for parking. Extended
exposure to the direct sunlight in a closed cabin may result
in product malfunction or failure.
Make sure to store the microSD card separate for checking
a video of accident or damage to the vehicle. If you continue
to use it, any important file may be overwritten by a new one.
An accident video may not be recorded because the accident
may be so serious that the product itself is damaged or
power is cut.
Avoid excessive tinting, which may hinder the recording of
video. Brightness and sharpness of video may depend on the
tinted level.
It there is a possible or actual problem with the product,
contact the customer center without hesitation for an
appropriate action.

04. Product: Features

High-quality video recording with clear images and an optimal viewing angle
It provides high-quality clear video images at both day and night (Resolution: front 1280x720 /rear : 640x480) and an
optical viewing angle.

FULL TOUCH LCD
It is based on Smart GUI touch type for more convenience than existing black boxes.
#
Videos that have been recorded already or in the process of being recorded can be checked immediately through the
3.5-inch wide LCD screen with high resolution.
It can show the real-time front and rear videos playback and recorded files at the 3.5” wide touch LCD.

Format function
It provides a format function with smart GUI on the touch LCD.
#
Easy switch between front and rear view images
Users can just touch the LCD to switch from front to rear view of images and vice versa. You can use the PIP to see both
images at the same time

Easy Configuration
Users can change the configuration on the touch screen by themselves.
#
Continuous recording (driving mode)
All videos during driving are continuously recorded as a one-minute video file.
#
Event (impulse) recording
It records 20 seconds video files from the 10 seconds before the incidence to the 10 seconds after it in the event folder
when there is an impulse or the power button is pressed briefly.
#
Manual recording
It records 20 seconds video files from the 10 seconds before the incidence to the 10 seconds after it in the event folder if
the button at the right side of the LCD is pressed briefly.

Dedicated CCTV to protect the car, recording in parking
It provides recording in parking to record any damages or accidents while your car is parked.

Auto memory management
Even if a memory card is short of space, it provide auto management function to remove files from the oldest ones to
record recent driving videos.
#
PC viewer for playing recorded data
The PC viewer can play 2 channels (front/rear) of the black box video at the same time in order for easy checking of
information.
#
Simultaneous front and rear monitoring, 2CH black box
The main body records the front-view video while the external camera records the rear-view video (2CH. black box).
#
Cut-off setting
If the voltage reaches a certain level defined by the voltage/cutoff time setting in parking mode, the black box
is automatically turned off to prevent battery discharge. Users can select 1 from the 6 steps of cut-off voltage and 4 steps
of the timer, respectively.

Voice guidance is provided according to the situation.

Auto-saver
1)# If inside of the product temperature exceeds LCD warranty temperature, the LCD is automatically turned off. If the
temperature is cooled down enough, the LCD is automatically turned on.

Voice guidance for cut-off because of high temperature: Voice information to announce power cut-off in driving mode.
- “The LCD has been shut down due to the high temperature.”

If the LCD is shut down because of high temperature, the LCD will not turn on even if ACC is turned on/off or power is
turned off.

If the LCD is pressed with the LCD off because of high temperature, “Voice Information” is provided. The Voice guidance
provided only in driving mode.

If the temperature exceeds cutoff limit in drive mode, the LCD is automatically turned off with the voice information. If
the temperature is cooled down enough, the LCD is automatically turned on.

If power cut-off because of high temperature setting is enabled, the black box is turned off when the temperature is
kept above the LCD warranty temperature for over 5 minutes.

07. How to install the Urive A5 – Precautions
#
The installation requires embedding and constant power supply; thus, you are advised to seek help from one of our
partners.
#
It is recommended to use only Urive-certified power and connection cables. (The rear camera cable must ULcertified, and check the “ULT” marking on the yellow band of the cable. You are provided with a 6 m-long rear
camera cable. Make sure that the length is appropriate for your car).
#
Try to avoid high-temperature and small sections for installing the cable as the sheath can melt or be damaged
resulting in a short circuit.
#
Wrong installation may lead to a fire, for which we are not liable.
#
To install it, park your car on a level surface under good lighting with the engine turned off.
#
Ensure that the power cable is not connected before the rear camera is connected.
#
Before finishing the installation process, make sure that the front-/rear-view video is properly saved.
#
Try to avoid any interruption of sight of driver.
#
Make sure a micro SD card is inserted and then connect the power.
#
For the clean and safe installation, try to hide the cables.
#
Keep your windshield clean.
#
The rear camera may be influenced by the tinting or hot wire.
#
Remove the lens protection of front and rear cameras after installation.

Clean the sections to install front and rear cameras.
Attach the body and rear camera as you desire.
Connect the cable to the rear camera and external GPS (optional)
without the power cable connected.
Connect the power to a fuse box, and power cable to the body.
- Black line: GND, (ex) Chassis

After the intro and caution screens, it starts recording with a voice

09. GUI – Real-time view
#
After booting up to driving mode, real-time view is provided.
#
The view screen shows video recording time, GPS signal state, voice recording
state and recording state(INF, EVT).

Enable to see the front and rear view images in PIP at the screen. When users
touch the small video image, the image will switch to the large video image.
#
It shifts to the screen saver when on standby for 1 minute. (If the screen saver is
enabled)

In the driving mode, touch the LCD to show the menu screen.

The menu screen has 8 icons: Front, Rear, Volume, LCD OFF, Format, Image View,
System info and Settings.

In the menu screen, video and voice recording doesn't stop.

It shifts to the screen saver when on standby for 1 minute. (If the screen saver is
enabled) .

Front :
Shows real-time view of the front camera.
Rear :
Shows real-time view of the rear camera.
* If the rear camera is not connected, although users touch
the rear view icon, it shows the real time front video images.
Volume :
Users can set a voice guidance and beep
sounds’ volume from 0 to 5.
LCD OFF :
LCD is turned off. Touch the LCD to turn it on.

09. GUI – Screen saver

After 1 minute without touching the LCD, the screen saver is activated. If the
screen saver is “Disabled,” the LCD screen is automatically turned off in 1 minute.

In the screen saver mode, video recording and voice recording do not stop.
#
when it is a screen saver mode, if users touch the LCD, it is shifted to real-time
video recording image.

Video recording quality is customizable.
(High–Middle–Low)
* More files can be saved with lower quality setting.
Audio recording can be turned on/off for the
video recording.
The sensitivity of the shock sensor can be
adjusted to save the event video.
(OFF/L1/L2/M1/M2/H1/H2)
* If the shock sensitivity is set to OFF, any shock
event is not recorded).

The screen saver setting can be turned on/off.
* If there is no operation in the real-time screen with
the function on, the screen saver is enabled.
1-CH (Front camera) or 2-CH (Front + Rear
cameras) can be set.
* Even if the rear camera is connected, only the frontcamera video can be recorded by setting it to 1-CH.
System time can be set.
* Make sure to click the exit icon after setting it to
apply the changes.

* If it is set to OFF, the power cut function will not be

10. How to upgrade
[How to upgrade automatically]
1.# With the PC Viewer, you can automatically install the upgrade file in the memory card. Insert a micro SD card into a PC,
and then press button at the upper left of main screen of Viewer.

Make sure you select correct drive letter of micro SD card; press the Update button.

When the update is finished, a prompt pops up as in ④ and the update 4 files are copied to the micro SD card.

After turn the device off, insert the micro SD card to the body.

After turn the device on, it is automatically upgrade with voice information(Starting the update) and then it will reboot by
itself.

In the SD card, some set folders are created after rebooting.

11. PC Viewer – Installation
1.# Run the PC Viewer installation file (UriveA5_ENG.exe) from a micro SD card (or where you downloaded it), and follow the
items to finish the installation.

11. PC Viewer – Buttons
Program version information
Insert the micro SD card into a PC to check the version information. PC Viewer and firmware
can be automatically updated..
Zoom in
It indicates selection of either front or rear view, which can be zoomed in with the mouse
scroll wheel.
Full screen
Front or rear view can be seen in full screen.
Return to main screen
Switches from the full-screen play back to the main screen of PC Viewer.
Play/Pause
Checking can be made by playing the selected video or temporarily stopping the video being
played.
Play previous/next file
Plays back previous/next file while playing a video.
Previous/next frame
While playing a video, press it to pause the video, and move it by frame.

Print screen
Used to printout the whole screen of the Viewer.
Capture screen
Saves the full screen of Viewer to a JPG file.
Switch front/rear view
In the PC Viewer, front and rear views are switched.
Speed / acceleration graph
Speed/acceleration graph pops up.
Select speed/acceleration graph
Speed or acceleration graph can be selected. (Requires external GPS).
Driving record
Shows the information of driving record. (Requires external GPS).
Playback option
Volume, brightness and video play speed can be controlled.

Black box configuration
Settings of black box are saved to a micro SD card. A micro SD card needs to be inserted.
Impulse and location information
Shows impulse level, GPS, and speed information (GPS and speed information display
requires a GPS).
Shows a GPS speed km/h or mi/h. please push the ( ) / ( ) button.
Show/hide map
Shows the information of driving location during video playback. (Requires external GPS)
Open file
Used to open a saved video file.
AVI conversion
This converts stored videos into AVI files so that the videos can be played back in a general
video player.
Sort file list
A file list can be sorted in the ascending/descending order.

Switches front/rear view to full screen

Main screen:
Returns from the full screen

While playing a front- or rear-view video, the video can be
zoomed in/out using the mouse scroll wheel after clicking
the video or Zoom in button. .

11. PC Viewer – Driving record

Driving record is saved every 10 seconds in the drive mode. txt file can save the driving record up to 1 week. However, The
GPS signal must be stable.

Insert a micro SD card into the PC, and, then, press in the Viewer
to show the driving record mode screen (on the left).
2.# On the screen, press the button, and, then, select a .dat file in
Setup folder of micro SD card to show the driving record list sorted by
date.

Click an item to show the driving path.
● Up to 5 .dat files can be saved.

Black box configuration:
In the PC Viewer, press to open the Black box configuration window as follows.
The settings can be found in the Configuration and SD Card Info tabs.

1.# In the main screen, select the button. Select the drive of the memory
card.

In the Configuration tab, Driving impulse sensitivity, Battery Capacity, Cutoff Voltage, Cut-off Time, Video Quality, Parking SD Capacity, Recording
Channel, Voice Recording, Speaker Volume, Screen Saver, and Time setting,
Time Zone can be set.

: Set the space of the SD card for the parking mode.
You can select 0%, 25%, or 50%. You will format the SD card to apply the
changed value.

13. AVI conversion

Converting to AVI:
This menu is designed to convert a video in the memory card to the AVI file, which can be played back
with other video players.
1.

Take out the micro SD card from the black box and insert it into a PC.
2.
#
Select the drive of micro SD card in the viewer.
3.
#
Click the button to list the saved video.
4.
#
Select videos to convert to AVI
and then press the OK button to
convert them to AVI files.

Warning! For stable operation, the memory card of this product saves the videos in a different file system (NxFS) from that of a normal PC (FAT
or NTFS). Thus, any video must be converted to an AVI file to check or play it back with Explorer or others.

The certain space of a micro SD memory card
is assigned to the drive, event, parking, and
impulse files as defined. According to the
characteristics of a memory card, the number
of files may vary.
1.# If the space limit is exceeded, it saves new files by eliminating from the oldest ones.

Size of files (High quality, 2-CH, and after AVI conversion):
Driving (1 min, approx. 55 MB), event (20 sec, approx. 28 MB), and parking (event) (20 sec, approx. 28 MB) files

Make sure to format the memory card of Urive A5 using itself or a dedicated viewer. If you format it using a PC, it will be formatted
by the unit again.

The dedicated viewer or Urive A5 will format it in the certain file system (NxFS) so it is only applicable to the Urive A5.

Urive A5 adopts the Format Free technology so it uses the space of most memory cards as a different file system.

The Urive A5 – dedicated viewer can play back saved videos.
