Read the complete operation instruction carefully contributes to better operation. Make sure the source device is correct and workable. To guarantee data consistency, we highly recommend the capacity of source and targets should be the same. It is strongly suggested to use “Copy+Compare" to achieve a perfect duplication.

Safety Precautions

 The warranty will expire if damage is incurred resulting from non-compliance with theses

operating instructions.

 Store the equipment safely when not in used and keep out of the reach of children and

infants.

 Please turn off the power before replace the socket.  Never turn off the power while processing the firmware update.  Use only approved power sources.  The product is only suitable for operation in dry, dust free, clean environment.  Do not allow liquids or foreign objects to enter. Failure to do so may severely damage

your duplicator.

⌘ Preparation Tips

 Make sure to use stable power supply.  Please use at clean & dry environment.  Please keep the environment well ventilated.  When the duplicator operates, it is normal for the machine to heat up.  Please do not move the duplicator during operation to ensure better operation.  Please do not remove HDDs during operation to avoid damage.  Please use power supply of its original manufacturer to ensure working normal.

➀Product Overview

⌘Function

The Hybrid series obtain products line to meet office usage. It can backup data between SATA and USB. Two models are available in different speed selection. The high-speed model supports high speed data transfer for SATA HDD/SSD at 18GB per minute and 2.4GB per minute for USB/USB-HDD. Hybrid series are also equipped with four erase modes for meeting different data security level. Comply with the U.S. Department of Defense's erase standard

5220.22-M. It is important to make sure the data inside the disregarded HDD will not be retrieved and can be safely transferred.

➁How to Copy HDD/USB/USB-HDD

⌘ Start to Copy

Step 1: Prepare the source

Prepare a source HDD/USB and target HDD/USB.

Step 2: Place Source & Targets

Place source HDD/USB to source port, targets HDD/USB to one target port.

“Copy+Compare” to ensure data correctness.

Step 3: Enter Function “1.Copy”

Use ▲▼ keys to select “1.Copy”, and then press “OK”. Duplication will start to proceed. The information below shows related processing information on LCD during duplication.

Note

Before duplication, please ensure to select the copy mode and copy area, by entering “6.1 Copy Area”.

Step 4: Completion!

Quality of copy OK/Fail and duplication time would show on LCD after duplication completes.

⌘ Set up before Duplication

Please pay attention to the following settings before copy

※Set Copy Area of Source

Appropriate copy area can greatly reduce operation time and have better efficiency. There are four copy modes with different copy area, please go to function “6.1 Copy Area”.

➊ System and Files: (Quick Copy)

It will copy source System and Files instead of the whole media. The system will analyze the source HDD/USB and identify the data area to copy. As long as the source data within the target capacity, the copy will be processed. FAT16/32/64, NTFS, Linux (ext2/ext3/ext4) formats are supported for this copy mode, with additional format HFS+, HFS, HFX are supported by HDD.

➋ All Partitions: Support All Formats

Copy all of the partitions area bit-by-bit no matter there is data exist or not. The capacity of target has to be bigger than the partition required capacity.

Mirror copy the whole source media, no matter of the content, format, partition or empty space. This mode does not analyze the data.

Caution

• It is recommended to execute Compare after Copy to confirm the accuracy.

• It is recommended to copy data by function “3.Copy+Compare”.

※Set Tolerance Bad Track

Select function "6.2 Skip Error" to set the number of error that you accept to skip during tasks processing. If users expect the device very critical for content correctness, it is strongly recommended to keep the Skip Error to be "0".

※Troubleshooting When Duplication Fails

 Check if too many bad tracks on HDD/USB can cause duplication failures.  Check the setting of function “6.2 Skip Error”.

● Make sure all ports/cables are properly and firmly connected.

● Make sure the capacity of source is smaller than target. Please go to the function to check capacity, “5.1 Show Disk Info” Or “5.2 Show USB Info”.

Please enter the following functions to check and confirm your device information before duplication.

※Check HDD/USB Info

Check the device related information, “5.1 Show HDD Info”, or “5.2 Show USB Info”. The functions show basic information of both source and target. Check the basic information for USB or HDD information.

Check the system related information, “5.4 System Info”. This function shows the duplicator information such as model name and firmware version.

The speed checking functions are to measure the reading/writing speed by reading/writing methods.

Note

The function, “Write Speed”, will delete the content of HDD/USB, so please make sure you have backup data before executing this function.

➂How to Compare HDD/USB Data

※Comparison Steps

Step 1: Prepare source USB/HDD and copied target USB/HDD.

Step 2: Place source USB/HDD to source port, target USB/HDD to one target port.

Use▲▼to select “2.Compare” then press “OK”. Data compare will proceed.

Caution

Please note that the data on the HDD will be erased after executing the function. All erase methods are designed for HDD erasing, available for SATA port only.

● Erase Modes Settings:

There are 4 erase methods: Quick Erase, Full Erase, DoD Erase, Secure Erase.

Analysis of Erase Methods

● Erase Options:

(1)Quick Erase

The function will ONLY erase the index of the HDD devices. It is the quickest way to erase HDD. It will damage the data in device. Please make sure you have backup all important data before using this function.

The erasing time of DoD Erase mode is 3 times longer than Full Erase mode.

4.DoD EraseComp

(2)Full Erase

The function will erase the whole sectors on the target. It will take longer time than quick erase. It will erase the data in HDD, please make sure you have backup all important data before using this function.

(3)DoD Erase – full erase for 3 times

This is to comply with the U.S.A. Department of Defense (DoD 5220) standard to fully erase the HDD three times bit-by-bit to overwrite device data and guarantees data is unrecoverable. This DoD erase method will erase HDD over each sector three times: the first time with zeros (0x00), second time with F (0xFF) and the third time with random characters. It will destroy the data in HDD, please make sure you have backup all important data before using this function.

DoD Erase Method

(4)DoD EraseComp – full erase 3 times + compare once

Besides DoD erase 3 times, this function will also execute comparison to make sure the random bit correctly written. It will destroy the data in HDD, please make sure you have backup all important data before using this function.

Note

The erasing time of DoD EraseComp is 4 times longer than Full Erase mode.

5.Secure Erase

Note

Secure Erase can only operate with SATA HDD model that support the command.

Please DO NOT disrupts Secure Erase during operation. Otherwise, it can cause irretrievable

damages.

The international authorized high standard Secure Erase function. It overwrites every single track on the hard drive with factory default methods. Even HPA/DCO or other data area which are not able to load, can be erased all together.

Step 1: Prepare USB or HDD

Prepare USB device or SATA HDD/SSD for erase.

Step 2: Place into Targets Insert HDD/USB for erase into target ports.

Use ▲ ▼ to select the mode of erasing method, and then press "OK". Data Erase will proceed.

➄How to Update BIOS

⌘ Update System by USB

Step 1: Download latest firmware

Download the latest firmware from PC/notebook and save it to USB drive.

Step 2: Enter 5.3. Update System Insert BIOS USB into source port. Enter function 5.3. Update System. Update will take about one minute to complete.

Show the information of connected HDDs, such as brand name, total capacity, and etc.

Show the information of connected USB device, such as brand name, total capacity, and etc.

5.3 Update System

Update the system firmware

5.4 System Info

Show the information of the duplicator, such as controller model number, software version, and etc.

5.5 Read Speed

Show the speed of reading.

Show the speed of writing.
