Limitation of Use
1. This headrest is designed to be used only as indicated in the user manual.
2. Unwin cannot be held liable for any injuries sustained or damage to the wheelchair due to any modification made to this device.
3. To avoid injuries or possible damage to the wheelchair, please read this manual carefully before installing the headrest.

General Guidance
1. The Unwin headrest can be fitted permanently to any side-folding wheelchair, where the rear push handles are made from 220mm tubing.
2. The headrest is intended for use as a comfort head support for wheelchair occupants from junior to adult sizes.
3. The headrest is a highly adaptive headrest system suitable for all standard wheelchairs. Its unique folding mechanism allows the system to fold with the wheelchair.
4. Adjustable to fit wheelchairs from 300 to 610mm width.
5. Available in four sizes:
Small: (seat width 300-380mm)
Medium (seat width 360-440mm)
Large (seat width 420-520mm)
Extra Large (seat width 500-610mm)

Safety Information
Before fitting the headrest
1. Horizontal position of the headrest should be set for occupant comfort within 10mm of head.
2. Height of headrest should be set to centre of occupant’s head.
3. The height of the headrest is set by means of a fixing knob as shown in the diagram. Release of this knob allows the cushion tube to slide up or down.
4. When at the required height, the knob should be set finger-tight. Do not overtighten.

1. Unfold wheelchair first, using the allen key supplied, loosen M3 bolts, to allow inner
tubes to slide freely.
2. Unfasten the M5 bolts, fit brackets onto the curved part of wheelchair push-handles,
then refasten M5 bolts.
3. Push the rear handles of wheelchair slighlty apart, simultaneously adjust center
joints as high as possible (in order to obtain adequate support tension for headrest)
and tighten M3 bolts. IMPORTANT: Do not use or lean on the inner tube whilst
pushing wheelchair, as it will aect the headrest support position.

Using the Headrest
1. When using wheelchair, unfold wheelchair first, then prop up the headrest (Fig. 1).
2. Conversely when folding wheelchair, first pull down the headrest to release the
support tension (Fig. 2), then fold wheelchair.
IMPORTANT: Do not put fingers into the joints of the headrest.

Equipment Maintenance
1. Regularly inspect the Headrest for damage, wear or malfunction. If any problems are identified replace it immediately.
2. Upholstery should be cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not use bleach.
3. The folding action should be free and there should be no interference when folding the wheelchair.
4. In some cases, it may be necessary to remove the suppor ting cushion section, by releaseing the fixing knob, for folding ands storing separately.
5. All screws and fixings should be secure.
6. The headrest has been crash-tested to ISO 7179 part 19 and comes with one year warranty.
