1. INTRODUCTION
The Keyboard is an external and portable front panel control unit for the MV300 switcher. It provides the user with a more flexible and simpler method of controlling the functions performed by the MV300 Video Switcher (refer to the MV300 Switcher User Manual).

After being connected to the MV300 Switcher and the switcher turned on, the LED Display of the keyboard will lid up. It will show the monitor and the camera that it is controlling on the Monitor Number display and the Camera Number display respectively.
1.3. Setup
Figure 2 shows the physical connection of the keyboard with the MV300 Switcher.

Upto 4 keyboards can be connected to the MV300 Switcher. However, note that Keyboard #1 has the highest priority. It is only keyboard that can perform functions such as:
turn on/off the alarm system,
enable/disable individual alarms,
and enter program mode.
All other functions are shared between the keyboards. Figure 3 shows the pin connection of the keyboard connector.

2. KEYBOARD PARAMETERS
2.1. Keyboard Number
The keyboard number is determined by the physical connection to the MV300 switcher.
To observe the present keyboard number, hold down the SHOW key until the letter n appears on the monitor number display. The keyboard number (1 to 4) will alternately be shown on the camera number display.
To return to normal operation, depress the SHOW key.
2.2. Beeper Enable/Disable
It is possible to enable or disable the beeper by holding down the SET key until the letter p' appears on the monitor number display. This is then followed by either depressing the ON key to enable the beeper or depressing the OFF key to disable the beeper.
To return to normal operation, depress the SET key again.
2.3. Communication Speed with MV300
The keyboard can communicate with the MV300 switcher at 4 different speeds (ie. 19200, 9600, 4800, and 2400bps).
To see the current speed, hold down the SET key until the letter ‘p’ appears on the monitor number display. This is followed by depressing the RUN key until the letter ‘b’ appears on the monitor number display. The baud rate (in abbreviatec form) will then be displayed on the camera number display (Please refer to Table 1).
The speed of the MV300 switcher can be decreased or increased by depressing the keys ON and OFF respectively. The communication speed should be set to match that of the MV300.
To return to nuomal operation, depress the SET key again.

3. KEYBOARD TESTING
Keys and LED display of the keyboard can be tested by holding down the PGM key until everyone of the displays are flashing. At this point, whenever a key is pressed, the key name (in abbreviated form) will be shown on the camera number display. The only exception is the MON key, which will display ” (Please refer to Table 2).
To return to normal operation, depress the PGM key twice.

4. KEYBOARD OPERATIONS
4.1. Switcher Controls
4.1.1. Monitor Selections
Depress the MON key, enter the monitor number (1 to 5), and then, depress the ENT key.
Note: The monitor number entered will first be displayed on
the camera number display before being displayed on the monitor number display.
4.1.2. Camera Selections
Enter the camera number (1 to 999) and depress the ENT key.
4.1.3. Camera Movements
Use the joystick to change the camera position.
4.1.4. Lens Motions
Depress the zoom, focus, and iris keys to control the lens.
4.1.5. Run/Hold Sequence
Depress the RUN key to toggle between the running and holding sequence. The RUN key will light up only when the sequence is running.
4.1.6. AUX On
Depress the ON key, enter the AUX number (1 to 128), and then depress the ENT key.
4.1.7. AUX Off
Depress the OFF key, enter the AUX number (1 to 128), and depress the ENT key.
4.1.8. Pre-position Set
Depress the SET key, enter the pre-position number (from 1 upto 128 depending on the type of On-Site Receiver/Driver used). Then, depress the ENT key.
4.1.9. Pre-position Show
Depress the SHOW key, enter the pre-position number (from 1 upto 128 depending on the type of On-Site Receiver/Driver used). Then, depress the ENT key.

4.1.10. Global Alarm System On
Depress the ALM key and the ON key. The ALM key will only light up if the alarm system is on.
4.1.11. Global Alarm System Off
Depress the ALM key and the OFF key.
4.1.12. Individual Alarm Enable
Depress the ALM key, enter the alarm number of the selected camera, and depress the ON key. This number can be chosen from 1 to 16, 30, 46, or 62, dependant on the number of Expander units utilised (or 1 to 16, 28, 44, 60 if there are 4 video output instead of 2).
4.1.13. Individual Alarm Disable
Depress the ALM key, enter the alarm number of the selected cameras, and depress the OFF key. This number can be chosen from 1 to 16, 30, 46, or 62, dependant on the number of Expander units utilised (or 1 to 16, 28, 44, 60 if there are 4 video output instead of 2).
4.1.14. Alarm Acknowledge
The ALM key will blink if the keyboard has received an alarm acknowledgment request. Furthermore, once the ALM key is depressed, an acknowledgment will be sent to the switcher, causing the ALM key to stop blinking.
4.1.15. On-screen Program Mode
To enter the on-screen program mode, depress the PGM key followed by the ENT key.
After the keyboard has entered program mode, the word “Prg” will appear on the camera number display. To program a particular item, follow the instructions shown on the monitor.
To exit from program mode, depress the PGM key.
4.1.16. Clear Command
Depress the CLR key to clear an incomplete command.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
FAULT POSSIBLE CAUSE REMEDY
The LED display has not illuminated at the start of the operation.
The connection of the keyboard to the MV300 Switcher is loose, of detached.
Connect the D9 connector of the keyboard to the rear-panel of the MV300 properly.
The keyboard fails to respond correctly, or completely.
The power supply to the keyboard has become non-existent, of unstable.
Pull out the D9 connector from the MV300 and then re-connect.
No sound emitted from the alarm/beeper.
Setup power OFF, or Beeper is broken/ruined.
Refer to qualified service personnel for repair.

6. ERROR CODE DEFINITIONS
There are two types of error that the keyboard is capable of displaying; one is where the fault is local to the keyboard and the other is where the fault is generated from the MV300 Switcher.
6.1. Communication (Local) Error
6.1.1. No Line
This occurs when there are no responses from the switcher. At this instance, the letters ‘LinE’ will appear on the display.
This error may be due to: i) Incorrect Baud Rate or communication speed with the
switcher. ii) faulty I.C. (DS3696) iii) the connecting cable to the switcher is faulty.
6.1.2. Line Error
This occurs when erroneous data are received and the letters ‘Lerr’ will be displayed on the keyboard display.
The probable causes are: i) Incorrect Baud Rate or communication speed with the
switcher ii) faulty I.C. (DS3696) iii) the connecting cable to the switcher is faulty
6.2. Operation Error
This error is associated with the MV300 Switcher. A qualified service personnel is required for the repairing.
This fault usually arises during an operation process, whereby the letter ‘E’ followed by an error number will be displayed. Refer to the MV300 Switcher manual (Table 1 of Section 3.21) for definitions of the error numbers.
