INTRODUCTION

The Atlas XL Universal Remote Control by Universal Electronics is our latest generation universal remote control. Its sophisticated technology allows you to consolidate up to four of your original home entertainment remote controls into one easy-to-use product. Moreover,it’s packed with advanced features such as:

• Preprogrammed control to operate the cable converter supplied by your cable service provider

• Master Power key for master on/off control of your home entertainment equipment with a single keystroke

• Channel Lock to lock channel selection only to the cable converter

• Volume Lock to lock volume controls to one mode or individual modes

• Device Key Reassignment to remotely control a second (duplicate) device

• Color-coded keys to quickly locate popular functions

• Code library for popular video and audio devices

Before using the product,you will need to install the enclosed batteries and also perform some programming to operate the specific home entertainment devices you wish to control.

Please follow the instructions detailed in this manual to set up the unit and then start enjoying your new remote control and cable service.

Key Charts

Use SETUP for all programming sequences.

Press POWER once to turn on or off a home entertainment device.

Press AUD,VCR,TV,or CBL once to select a home entertainment device to control. Each device key has an embedded LED (red light) that blinks upon selection and indicates that the remote control is working and is sending signals.

Use GUIDE to display the program guide.

Use EXIT to exit out of your cable converter’s menu and guide.

Use INFO to display the current channel and program information.

Press MENU (SETTINGS) once to display available interactive services and to access additional cable features.

Use the Cursor keys to move the cursor in the program guide and menu screens and to navigate within the interactive service.

Use OK/SELECT to choose options, PPV events,and to tune programs from the program guide.

Use PAGE+ (or PAGE-) to page up (or page down) through menu screens and the program guide.

Press MUTE once to turn the sound off or on.

Use DAY+ (or DAY-) to move a day forward (or back) on your cable converter’s program guide.

Press PPV once to view available Pay-Per-View events.

Key Charts (continued)

Use VOL+ (or VOL-) to raise (or lower) the audio volume.

Use FAV to cycle through your favorite channels stored in your cable converter.

Use CH+ (or CH-) to select the next higher (or lower) channel. For DVD players, use these keys to skip forward (or reverse) through chapters. For amplifiers/receivers, use these keys to select the next higher (or lower) preset station.

A,B,and C are reserved for future services.

Use the keypad (1~ 9,and0) to directly select channels (e.g.,09). For amplifiers/receivers, use the keypad to select inputs 1 through 10.

Press LAST once to recall the last channel. For PVRs,use LAST to select live or recorded video.

Use #to access extra cable features (see your cable converter’s manual).

In all modes except CBL, use these keys to control a VCR,DVD player, or PVR.To record in the VCR mode, press REC twice. In the CBL mode, use these keys (except REC) for iCONTROL (i.e.,Video On Demand or VOD).

After programming,press MACRO once to run a macro (see Using Macros on page 16).

Use BYPASS to view other video sources (A or B) instead of cable.

Use TV/VCR to view TV or video programs.For amplifiers/receivers, use this key for input or output.

INSTALLING BATTERIES

1. On the back of the remote control,push the

tab and lift off the battery cover.

2. Locate the two (2) enclosed AA batteries.

Match the + and – marks with those in the battery case, then insert them.

3. Align the cover’s keys with the case’s holes

and press the cover back into place. The tab should click when the cover is locked.

4. Test the unit by pressing POWER and any

mode key (e.g.,TV). If the batteries are inserted correctly, the selected mode key will blink once.

NOTE:When batteries need replacement,the remote control will cease to operate. Replace the batteries and the unit will be restored to its full functionality, complete with your favorite settings.

PROGRAMMING DEVICE CONTROL

The Atlas XL Universal Remote Control is preprogrammed to operate the cable converter provided by your cable service provider, an RCA TV, an RCA VCR, and a Pioneer audio receiver.

To control devices other than the default brands,perform the following steps; otherwise skip this section:

NOTES: To control a DVD player, program the VCR key. To control a PVR, program the VCR key. To control a stereo amplifier or receiver, program the AUD key.For TV/VCR Combo control, skip this section and perform the instructions on page 10.

1. Turn on a device and, if applicable, insert

video media, (e.g.,cassette or disc).

NOTE: Please read steps 2 through 4 completely before proceeding. Highlight or write down the codes and device you wish to program before moving on to step 2.

2. On the remote control, press a device key once

(e.g., AUD,VCR,or TV).Press and hold SETUP until the selected mode key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

3. Use the Manufacturer’s Codes (starting on

page 42) to locate the the type of device and brand name and then enter the first four-digit code for your device.If performed correctly, the selected mode key will blink twice.

NOTE: If the selected mode key emits a long blink, the entry is invalid. Repeat steps 2 through 3 and try entering the same code again.

4. Aim the remote control at the device and

press POWER once. The device should turn off. If it does not, repeat steps 2 through 3, trying each code for your brand until you find one that works. If it still does not respond,try searching for the code (see

Searching For Your Code on page 11).

NOTE: If the device does not have a POWER key, press the (Play) key.

5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 for each device you

want the remote control to control. For future reference, write down each working device code in the following boxes:

PROGRAMMING TV/VCR COMBO CONTROL

If you own a TV/VCR Combo,perform the following instructions to control this device:

1. Turn on your TV/VCR Combo and insert a

video cassette.

2. On the remote control,press VCR once.

Press and hold SETUP until the VCR key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

3. Use the Setup Codes For TV/VCR Combos (on

page 47) to locate the brand name and then enter the first four-digit code for your TV/VCR Combo.If you perform this procedure correctly, the VCR key will blink twice.

NOTE: If the VCR key did not blink twice after entering the code’s last digit, then repeat steps 2 through 3 and try entering the same code again.

If you’ve located a TV/VCR setup code that works your TV/VCR Combo and a separate TV code is also listed, you’ll need to program this code into the remote control to access volume control (see Programming Device Control on page 8).

4. Aim the remote control at your TV/VCR

Combo and press POWER once. The device should turn off.If it does not respond,repeat steps 2 through 3,trying each code listed for your brand until you find one that works. If it still does not respond,try searching for the code (see Searching For Your Code on the next page).

5. For future reference, write down each working

device code in the boxes below:

SEARCHING FOR YOUR CODE

If your home entertainment device does not respond to the Atlas XL Universal Remote Control after trying all of the codes listed for your brand,or if your brand is not listed at all,try searching for your code.

For example, to search for a code for your TV:

1. Turn on your TV.

2. On the remote control,press TV once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

3. Enter 9 - 9 - 1.The TVkey will blink twice.

4. Aim the remote control at the TV and slowly

alternate between pressing POWER and TV. Stop when the TV turns off.

NOTE: In the search mode,the remote control will send IR codes from its library to the selected device, starting with the most popular code first.

5. Press SETUP once to lock in the code. The TV

key will blink twice.

6. To search for the codes of your other devices,

repeat steps 1 through 5,but substitute the appropriate key (i.e.,AUD or VCR) for the (Audio or VCR) device you are searching for.

CHECKING THE CODES

If you have set up the Atlas XL Universal Remote Control using the Searching For Your Code procedure (on the pre- vious page),you may need to find out which four-digit code is operating your equipment.For example, to find out which code is operating your TV:

1. On the remote control,press TV once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the TV key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 0.The TVkey will blink twice.

3. To view the code for the first digit,press 1

once.Wait 3 seconds and count the number of times the TV key blinks (e.g.,3 blinks = 3) and write down the number in the leftmost TV Code box (see below).

NOTE: If a code digit is “0”,the selected mode key will not blink.

4. Repeat step 3 three more times for the

remaining digits.Use 2 for the second digit, 3 for the third digit,and 4 for the fourth digit. Finish writing down the code in the TV Code boxes below.

5. To check for other device codes,repeat steps

1 through 4,but substitute the appropriate key (i.e., AUD or VCR) for the (Audio or VCR) device you are checking.Write down the codes in the appropriate boxes below.

PROGRAMMING CHANNEL CONTROL LOCK

By default, the remote control’s channel-control capabilities are locked to the cable converter. The affected keys* are 0~ 9,CH+, CH-,ENTER,and LAST.This will guarantee that you do not inadvertently change a channel on your TV or VCR.However,you can de-activate this feature to allow full access to these keys in the TV and VCR modes.

*NOTE: This feature does not affect the AUD mode.

To De-Activate Channel Control Lock:

1. On the remote control,press CBL once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 -7- 3.The CBL key will blink twice.

3. Press CH- once. The CBL key will blink

four times.

4. Now, the remote control will provide TV and

VCR channel-control capabilities while in the TV or VCR mode.

To Re-Activate Channel Control Lock:

1. On the remote control,press CBL once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 -7- 3.The CBL key will blink twice.

3. Press CH+ once. The CBL key will blink twice.

4. Now, regardless of what mode you select

(i.e., TV,VCR,or CBL),only the channel control capability of your cable converter will be accessible.

USING THE MASTER POWER KEY

The Atlas XL Universal Remote Control has a unique feature that allows you to sequentially turn on or off up to four of your home entertainment devices with a single key press.

NOTE: MASTER POWER requires programming and only works in the CBL mode. If it is not programmed,only the cable converter will turn on or off. In any other mode, pressing MASTER POWER once will turn on or off the selected device.

To Program The Master Power Key:

1. On the remote control,press and hold SETUP

until the last-selected device key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 5. The last-selected device key

will blink twice. Then press POWERonce.

3. For the first device you want in the power on

sequence,press a device key (e.g.,TV) once and then press POWER once.

4. Repeat step 3 up to three more times to add the

second,third,and fourth device,as desired.

5. To save the settings and exit the program,press

CBL once.Next,press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

To Operate The Master Power Key:

1. After programming,point the remote control

at the devices.Press CBL once.

2. Press MASTER POWER once to sequentially

turn on or off all home entertainment devices.

3. You will see the devices turn on or off

according to the programmed sequence.

To Clear The Master Power Key:

1. Perform steps 1 and 2 in the first section

above, To Program The Master Power Key.

2. To clear the settings and exit the program,

press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

REASSIGNING DEVICE KEYS

The Atlas XL Universal Remote Control can be set up to control a second TV, PVR,DVD player,or VCR, or any combination of up to four home entertainment devices. For example, to have the unit control a TV, a Cable Converter, and two VCRs,you will need to reassign the unused AUD key to operate the second VCR as follows:

1. On the remote control,press VCR once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the VCR key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 2.The VCRkey will blink twice.

3. Press VCR once, then press AUD once. The

AUD key will blink twice.

4. The AUD key is now ready to be programmed

for your second VCR. See Programming Device Control on page 8.

To reassign other device keys,repeat steps 1 to 4 and substitute the key sequence using the following chart:

Upon completion of a reassignment, the selected mode key will blink twice to confirm your selection.Then you’ll need to program device control (see Programming Device Control on page 8).

USING MACROS

With programming, the MACRO key on your Atlas XL Universal Remote Control can be setup to perform repetitive,time-consuming operations through the press of a single key.

A macro can be used to control a home theater operation, to set a favorite channel, or for other multiple functions you would like to control with one key press (see the example below).Moreover, the MACRO key can hold up to three macros with up to 15 key presses each.The macros are then activated,in the order they were stored, each time you press this key.

NOTE: If three macros are stored,programming a new macro will erase the first original macro. Thereafter,each new macro will overwrite the next original macro.

Example – Programming A Favorite Channel

With so many channels available through your cable provider, you can program a macro that directly selects a favorite channel with one key press.

For example, let’s assume your favorite cable programs are on channel 71.Use the following instructions to program a macro for direct access of this channel:

1. On the remote control,press CBL once.

Then press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 5.The CBL key will blink twice.

3. Press MACRO once.

4. Press CBL once.

5. Enter the channel number,7 - 1.

NOTE: If you have access to over 100 channels, enter 0 -7-1. Moreover, if the original remote control required pressing an Enter key to change the channel, also press the ENTER key after the channel number (e.g., 0 -7 -1 - ENTER).

6. Press and hold SETUPuntil the CBL key blinks

twice, then release SETUP.

Now when you press MACRO,you will instantly see the cable converter tune to channel 71.

NOTE: To store three channels onto the MACRO key, repeat the six steps on the left two more times, substituting a new favorite channel in step 5 (e.g.,7 - 2 for channel 72).

To Clear A Macro:

1. On the remote control,press and hold SETUP

until the last-selected device key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 5.The last-selected device key

will blink twice.

3. Press MACRO once.

4. Press and hold SETUPuntil the last-selected

device key blinks twice,then release SETUP.

NOTE:A macro will be cleared in the order it was originally stored.

CHANGING VOLUME LOCK

On the Atlas XL Universal Remote Control,Global Volume Lock is set to TV, so you can control TV volume while in the

TV, VCR,or Cable mode. If desired, you can still perform Individual Volume Unlock on a selected device to set its volume control for independent operation.

NOTE: The audio mode’s volume controls are active regardless of Volume Lock settings. However,if you lock the volume controls to the AUD mode, you will have control of the audio device’s volume in all other modes (i.e.,TV , VCR,and CBL).

To Unlock Volume Control For A Single Device (Individual Volume Unlock):

1. Assuming Global Volume Lock is active, select

a mode on the remote control that you want to unlock (e.g.,CBL) and press it once. Next, press and hold SETUP until the device key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 3. The last-selected device key

will blink twice.

3. Press VOL– once.The selected device key will

blink four times.

4. Repeat steps 1 through 3 (of this section) for

each device you want volume to be unlocked.

5. Now, after you select a device that has volume

unlocked (e.g.,CBL), pressing VOL+, VOL–,or MUTE, will control the device’s volume only in its own mode.

To Unlock All Volume Control (Global Volume Unlock):

NOTE: Performing these instructions will set independent volume control for all programmed devices (e.g., TV volume control in TV mode,VCR volume in VCR mode, etc.).

1. On the remote control,press and hold SETUP

until the last-selected device key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 3. The last-selected device key

will blink twice.

3. Press VOL+ once. The last-selected device key

will blink four times.

To Lock Volume Control To One Mode (Global Volume Lock):

1. On the remote control,press and hold SETUP

until the last-selected device key blinks twice, then release SETUP.

2. Enter 9 - 9 - 3. The last-selected device key

will blink twice.

3. Select a mode (e.g., TV) where you want to

globally lock the volume controls.The selected device key will blink twice.

4. Now, when you press VOL+, VOL–,or MUTE,

the volume of the selected device (e.g.,TV) can be controlled regardless of mode.

TROUBLESHOOTING

PROBLEM: Mode key does not blink when you press a key.

SOLUTION: Replace the batteries with two (2) new AA

alkaline batteries (see page 7).

PROBLEM: Mode key blinks when you press a key, but home

entertainment device does not respond.

SOLUTION: Make sure you are aiming the remote control at

your home entertainment device and that you are within 15 feet of the device you are trying to control.

PROBLEM: The remote control does not control home

entertainment devices or commands are not performing properly.

SOLUTION: Try all listed codes for the device brand being set

up.Make sure all devices can be operated with an infrared remote control.

PROBLEM: TV/VCR Combo does not respond properly.

SOLUTION: Use the VCR codes for your brand. Some combo

units may require both a TV code and a VCR code for full operation (see page 10).

TROUBLESHOOTING (continued)

PROBLEM: No volume on a second TV.

SOLUTION: Follow instructions in Changing Volume Lock

(see page 18).

PROBLEM: CH+, CH –,and LAST do not work for your

RCA TV.

SOLUTION: Due to RCA design (1983-1987), only the original

remote control will operate these functions.

PROBLEM: Tried “Search Method”and still could not find a

working code.

SOLUTION: Try the “Search Method”again after clearing out

the device key as follows: Press and hold SETUP until mode key blinks twice,then release. Next enter 9 - 9 - 2. Then press and release the mode key to be cleared twice.

PROBLEM: Remote control does not turn on Sony or Sharp

TV/VCR Combo.

SOLUTION: For power on, these products require program-

ming TV codes on the remote control.For Sony, use TV code 0000 and VCR code 0032.For Sharp, use TV code 0093 and VCR code 0048.

INSTRUCTIONS TO THE USER

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a class B digital device,pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules.These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates,uses and can radiate radio frequency energy and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.

However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on,the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

• Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.

• Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.

This equipment has been verified to comply with the limits for a class B computing device,pursuant to FCC Rules.In order to maintain compliance with FCC regulations,shielded cables must be used with this equipment.Operation with non-approved equipment or unshielded cables is likely to result in interference to radio and TV reception.The user is cautioned that changes and modifications made to the equipment without the approval of manufacturer could void the user's authority to operate this equipment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

This product does not have any user-serviceable parts. Opening the case,except for the battery cover,may cause permanent damage to your Atlas XL Universal Remote Control.

INTRODUCCIÓN

El Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL de Universal Electronics es el control remoto universal de la más reciente generación.Su sofisticada tecnología le permite consolidar hasta cuatro de los controles remotos originales de los componentes del entretenimiento de su hogar en un solo producto fácil de usar. Más aún, está repleto de funciones avanzadas tales como:

• Control preprogramado para operar el convertidor de cable provisto por su abastecedor de servicio de cable

• Tecla De Encendido Maestro para el control maestro de encendido/apagado del equipo de su entretenimiento en el hogar con solo presionar una tecla

• Bloqueo De Canales para solamente utilizar la selección de canales de el convertidor de cable

• Bloqueo Del Volumen para solamente utilizar los controles del volumen en un modo o en modos individuales

• Reasignación De Las Teclas Del Dispositivo para controlar remotamente a un dispositivo segundo (duplicado)

• Teclas codificadas por color para localizar rápidamente las funciones populares

• Archivo de códigos para los dispositivos populares de vídeo y de audio

Antes de usar el producto,necesita instalar las baterías adjuntas y también llevar a cabo cierta programación para operar los dispositivos específicos de entretenimiento en el hogar que usted desea controlar.

Por favor siga las instrucciones que se detallan en este manual para configurar la unidad y así comenzar a disfrutar su nuevo control remoto y el servicio de cable.

Use SETUP (Configuración) para todas las secuencias de programación.

Presion e POWER una vez para encender o para apagar un dispositivo del entretenimiento en el hogar.

Presion e AUD, VCR,TV,o CBL una vez para seleccionar un dispositivo del entretenimiento en el hogar que quiere controlar. Cada tecla de dispositivo tiene debajo un diodo emisor de luz (una luz roja) que parpadea al hacer la selección e indica que el control remoto está funcionando y está enviando señales.

Use VOL+ o VOL- para subir o bajar el volumen.

Use FAV (Favoritos) para repasar sus canales favoritos guardados en su convertidor de cable.

Use CH+ o CH-para seleccionar el siguiente canal más alto o más bajo. Para los reproductores de DVD,use estas teclas para saltarse hacia delante o hacia atrás a través de los capítulos. Para los amplificadores/receptores,use estas teclas para seleccionar la siguiente estación prefijada más alta o más baja.

Las teclas A,B,y Cestan reservadas para servicios futuros.

INSTALACIÓN DE LAS BATERÍAS

1. En la parte de atrás del control remoto,presione la

lengüeta y levante la tapa de la batería para quitarla.

2. Encuentre las dos (2) baterías AA adjuntas. Iguale

las marcas + y - con las que están en el compartimento de las baterías,entonces insértelas.

3. Alinee las salientes de la tapa con los agujeros del

compartimento y presione la tapa devuelta en su lugar. La lengüeta debe producir un chasquido al cerrarse la tapa.

4. Pruebe la unidad presionando POWER y cualquier

tecla de modo (v.g.,TV). Si las baterías se insertan correctamente,la tecla de modo seleccionada parpadeará una vez.

NOTA: Cuando haya que cambiar las baterías, el control remoto dejará de funcionar. Cambie las baterías y la unidad se restaurará a su funcionalidad completa, con todo y sus fijaciones favoritas.

PROGRAMACIÓN DEL CONTROL DEL DISPOSITIVO (APARATO)

El Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL está preprogramado para operar el convertidor de cable provisto por su abastecedor de servicio de cable, un televisor RCA, una videograbadora (VCR) RCA, y un receptor de audio Pioneer.

Para controlar dispositivos diferentes a las marcas fijadas en la fábrica, lleve a cabo los siguientes pasos; de otra forma puede saltarse esta sección:

NOTAS: Para controlar un reproductor DVD, programe la tecla VCR.Para controlar un PVR,programe la tecla VCR. Para controlar un amplificador o receptor estereofónico, programe la tecla AUD. Para controlar un aparato combinado televisor/videograbadora (TV/VCR),sáltese esta sección y lleve a cabo las instrucciones en la página 30.

1. Encienda un dispositivo y,si es aplicable,inserte el

medio usado para el vídeo,(v.g., casete o disco).

NOTA: Por favor lea los pasos 2 al 4 en su totalidad antes de proceder. Anote los códigos y el dispositivo que quiere programar antes de pasar al paso 2.

2. En el control remoto,presione una tecla de

dispositivo (v.g., AUD,VCR,o TV). Presione y mantenga presionada SETUP hasta que la tecla del modo seleccionado parpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

3. Use los Códigos Del Fabricante (comienzan en la

página 42) para localizar el tipo de dispositivo y la marca y entonces teclee el primer código de cuatro dígitos para su dispositivo.Si esto se realiza correctamente,la tecla del modo seleccionado parpadeará dos veces.

NOTA: Si la tecla de modo seleccionada emite un parpadeo largo,el número que se tecleó no es válido. Repita los pasos 2 al 3 y trate de volver a introducir el mismo código de nuevo.

4. Apunte el control remoto al dispositivo y presione

la tecla POWER una vez. El dispositivo debe apagarse.Si no lo hace, repita los pasos 2 al 3, probando con cada código para la marca de su dispositivo hasta que encuentre uno que funcione. Si el dispositivo sigue sin responder, trate de buscar el código (vea Búsqueda De Su Código en la página 31).

NOTA: Si el dispositivo no tiene una tecla POWER,presione

la tecla (Play).

5. Repita los pasos 1 al 4 por cada dispositivo que

quiera controlar con el control remoto.Para referencia futura, anote cada uno de los códigos de dispositivo que funcionan en los cuadrados de abajo:

PROGRAMACIÓN DEL CONTROL DE UN APARATO COMBINADO TELEVISOR/VIDEOGRABADORA (TV/VCR)

Si tiene un aparato combinado Televisor/Videograbadora, lleve a cabo las siguientes instrucciones para controlar el dispositivo:

1. Encienda su aparato combinado TV/VCR e inserte

un videocasete.

2. En el control remoto,presione VCRuna vez.

Presione y mantenga presionada SETUP hasta que la VCR parpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

3. Use los Códigos De Configuración Para Aparatos

Combinados Televisor/Videograbadora (TV/VCR)

(en la página 47) para encontrar la marca y después teclee el primer código de cuatro dígitos para su aparato combinado TV/VCR. Si realiza este procedimiento correctamente,la tecla VCR debe parpadear dos veces.

NOTA: Si la tecla VCR no parpadeó dos veces después de haber tecleado el último dígito del código, entonces repita los pasos 2 al 3 y haga la prueba volviendo a teclear el mismo código de nuevo.

Si encontró un código de configuración para TV/VCR que funcione con su aparato combinado TV/VCR y también está listado un código de TV por separado,necesitará programar este código en el control remoto para tener acceso al control del volumen (vea Programación Del Control Del Dispositivo en la página 28).

4. Apunte el control remoto a su aparato combinado

TV/VCR y presione POWER una vez.Este dispositivo debe apagarse.Si no responde,repita los pasos 2 al 3, probando cada código listado para su marca hasta que encuentre uno que funcione. Si aún así el dispositivo no responde, trate de buscar el código (vea Búsqueda De Su Código en la página siguiente).

5. Para referencia futura,anote cada uno de los

códigos de dispositivo que funcionan en los cuadrados de abajo:

BÚSQUEDA DE SU CÓDIGO

Si el dispositivo de su entretenimiento en el hogar no responde al Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL después de tratar todos los códigos listados para su marca, o si su marca no aparece en la lista, haga la siguiente prueba para buscar su código.

Por ejemplo, para buscar un código para su TV:

1. Encienda su televisor.

2. En el control remoto,presione TVuna vez. Después

presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla TV parpadee dos veces,entonces suelte SETUP.

3. Teclee 9- 9 - 1.La tecla TV parpadeará dos veces.

4. Apunte el control remoto hacia el televisor y en

forma lenta y alternada presione POWER y TV. Deténgase cuando el televisor se apague.

NOTA: En el modo de búsqueda, el control remoto envía códigos infrarrojos desde su base de datos hacia el dispositivo seleccionado, comenzando con el código más popular primero.

5. Presione SETUP una vez para bloquear el código en

su lugar. La tecla TV parpadeará dos veces.

6. Para buscar los códigos de sus otros dispositivos,

repita los pasos 1 al 5,pero sustituya la tecla adecuada (es decir, AUD o VCR) para el dispositivo (de Audio o VCR) que usted esté buscando.

VERIFICACIÓN DE LOS CÓDIGOS

Si configuró el Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL usando el procedimiento de la sección Búsqueda De Su Código (en la página anterior),tal vez tenga que averiguar cuál código de cuatro dígitos es el que está operando su equipo.Por ejemplo, para descubrir cuál es el código que opera su televisor:

1. En su control remoto, presione TV una vez.

Después presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla TVparpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

2. Teclee 9- 9 - 0.La tecla TV parpadeará dos veces.

3. Para ver el código del primer dígito,presione el 1

una vez.Espere 3 segundos y cuente el número de parpadeos de la tecla TV(v.g.,3 parpadeos = 3) y anote el número en el cuadrado a la extrema izquierda del código de TV (vea abajo).

NOTA: Si uno de los dígitos del código es “0”, la tecla del modo seleccionado no parpadeará.

4 . Repita el paso 3 tres veces más para los dígitos

restantes.Use el 2 para el segundo dígito,el 3 para el tercer dígito,y el 4 para el cuarto dígito.Termine de anotar el código en los cuadrados del Código de TV abajo.

5. Para verificar otros códigos de dispositivos, repita

los pasos 1 al 4, pero sustituya la tecla adecuada (es decir, AUD o VCR) para el dispositivo (Audio o VCR) que esté verificando.Anote los códigos en los cuadrados adecuados abajo.

PROGRAMACIÓN DEL BLOQUEO DEL CONTROL DE CANALES

Como valor de fábrica,la capacidad del control remoto para controlar los canales está bloqueada por el convertidor de cable. Las teclas afectadas* son 0~ 9, CH+,CH-, ENTER,y LAST.Esto garantizará que usted no cambiará un canal en su TV o en su VCR accidentalmente.Sin embargo,puede desactivar esta característica para permitir un acceso completo a estas teclas en los modos TV y VCR.

*NOTA: Esta característica no afecta el modo AUD.

Para Desactivar El Bloqueo Del Control De Canales:

1. En el control remoto,presione CBLuna vez.

Después presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla CBLparpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

2. Teclee 9 - 7 - 3.La tecla CBL parpadeará dos veces.

3. Presione CH- una vez. La tecla CBL parpadeará

cuatro veces.

4. Ahora, el control remoto proporcionará la

capacidad para controlar los canales de TV y de la VCR mientras se esté en el modo TV o VCR.

Para Reactivar El Bloqueo Del Control De Canales:

1. En el control remoto,presione CBLuna vez.

Después presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla CBLparpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

2. Teclee 9 - 7 - 3.La tecla CBL parpadeará dos veces.

3. Presione CH+ una vez.La tecla CBL parpadeará

dos veces.

4. Ahora, independientemente del modo que

seleccione (es decir,TV,VCR,o CBL), sólo la capacidad de control de canales de su convertidor de cable será accesible.

USO DE LA TECLA DE ENCENDIDO MAESTRO

El Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL tiene una característica única que le permite encender o apagar en secuencia hasta cuatro de los dispositivos de su entretenimiento en el hogar con sólo presionar una tecla.

NOTA: El MASTER POWER requiere programación y sólo funciona en el modo CBL. Si no está programado,sólo se encenderá o se apagará el convertidor de cable.En cualquier otro modo, si se presiona MASTER POWER una vez se encenderá o apagará el dispositivo seleccionado.

Para Programar La Tecla De Encendido Maestro:

1. En el control remoto,presione y mantenga

presionada SETUP hasta que la tecla del último dispositivo seleccionado parpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

2. Teclee 9 - 9 - 5. La tecla del último dispositivo

seleccionado parpadeará dos veces. Entonces, presione POWER una vez.

3. Para el primer dispositivo que quiera encender en

la secuencia, presione la tecla del dispositivo (v.g., TV) una vez y después presione la tecla POWER una vez.

4. Repita el paso 3 hasta tres veces más para añadir

el segundo,tercero y cuarto dispositivos, según se requiera.

5. Para guardar los valores fijados y salirse del

programa, presione CBL una vez. Después, presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla CBL parpadee dos veces,después suelte SETUP.

Para Operar La Tecla De Encendido Maestro:

1. Después de la programación, apunte el control

remoto a los dispositivos.Presione CBL una vez.

2. Presione MASTER POWER una vez para encender o

apagar en secuencia todos los dispositivos de su entretenimiento en el hogar.

3. Verá cómo los dispositivos se encienden o apagan

de acuerdo con la secuencia programada.

Para Borrar La Tecla De Encendido Maestro:

1. Lleve a cabo los pasos 1 y 2 en la primera sección

de arriba, Para Programar La Tecla de Encendido Maestro.

2. Para borrar los valores fijados y salir del programa,

presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla CBL parpadee dos veces,entonces suelte SETUP.

REASIGNACIÓN DE LAS TECLAS DEL DISPOSITIVO

El Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL se puede configurar para que controle un segundo TV, PVR, reproductor DVD,o VCR, o cualquier combinación de hasta cuatro dispositivos de entretenimiento en el hogar.Por ejemplo, para lograr que la unidad controle un Televisor, un Convertidor de Cable,y dos videograbadoras (VCRs),tiene que reasignar la tecla AUD no utilizada para que opere la segunda VCR como sigue:

1. En el control remoto,presione VCRuna vez.

Después presione y mantenga presionada la tecla SETUP hasta que la tecla VCRparpadee dos veces, entonces suelte SETUP.

2. Teclee 9- 9 - 2.La tecla VCR parpadeará dos veces.

3. Presione VCR una vez, entonces presione AUD una

vez. La tecla AUD parpadeará dos veces.

4. La tecla AUD ha quedado lista para ser programada

como su segunda VCR.Vea Programación Del Control Del Dispositivo en la página 28.

Para reasignar otras teclas de dispositivos,repita los pasos 1 al 4 y sustituya la secuencia de las teclas según la siguiente tabla:

Al terminar una reasignación,la tecla seleccionada del modo parpadeará dos veces para confirmar su selección. Entonces, necesitará programar el control del dispositivo (sea Programación Del Control Del Dispositivo en la página 28).

UTILIZACIÓN DE MACROS

Durante la programación,la tecla MACRO de su Control remoto universal Atlas XL puede ser configurada para realizar funciones repetitivas y lentas presionando una sola vez la tecla.

Un macro puede ser utilizado para controlar el funcionamiento de un home theater (cine en casa),para configurar un canal o para otras múltiples funciones que usted quiera controlar con sólo una tecla (ver ejemplos más adelante).Además, la tecla MACRO puede almacenar tres macros con hasta 15 funciones de tecla cada uno.Los macros se activan en el orden que fueron almacenados cada vez que usted presione la tecla.

NOTA: Si se programa un macro habiendo ya tres almacenados, se eliminará el macro almacenado en primer lugar. A partir de entonces, cada nuevo macro sobrescribirá sobre el siguiente macro original.

Ejemplo – Programación De Su Canal Favorito

Su servidor de cable ofrece infinidad de canales diferentes. Con Atlas XL, puede programar un macro que seleccione directamente su canal favorito con una sola tecla.

Por ejemplo, digamos que sus programas de cable favoritos están en el canal 71. Siga las instrucciones siguientes para programar un macro que le permita acceder directamente a este canal:

1. En el control remoto,presione CBLuna vez.

CAMBIO DEL BLOQUEO DEL VOLUMEN

En el Control Remoto Universal Atlas XL, el Bloqueo Global Del Volumen está fijado a la TV, de tal manera que se puede

controlar el volumen del televisor mientras se está en el modo TV, VCR,o Cable. Si quiere,todavía puede llevar a cabo el Desbloqueo De Volumen Individual en un dispositivo seleccionado con el fin de fijar el control de volumen de ese aparato como operación independiente.

NOTA: Los controles de volumen del modo de audio están activos independientemente de las fijaciones en el Bloqueo de Volumen. Sin embargo, si usted bloquea los controles de volumen al modo AUD,usted tendrá control del volumen del dispositivo de audio en todos los otros modos (es decir, TV,VCR,y CBL).

Para Desbloquear El Control De Volumen De Un Solo Dispositivo (Desbloqueo De Volumen Individual):

Para Bloquear El Control De Volumen A Un Modo (Bloqueo Global Del Volumen):

LOCALIZACIÓN DE FALLAS

PROBLEMA: La tecla de modo no parpadea cuando se presiona

una tecla.

SOLUCIÓN: Reemplace las baterías por dos (2) baterías alcalinas

nuevas tamaño AA (vea la página 27).

PROBLEMA: La tecla de modo parpadea cuando se presiona una

tecla, pero el dispositivo del entretenimiento en el hogar no responde.

SOLUCIÓN: Cerciórese de que está apuntando el control remoto al

dispositivo de su entretenimiento en el hogar y de que usted está a menos de 4.58 m (15 pies) de distancia del dispositivo que está tratando de controlar.

PROBLEMA: El control remoto no controla los dispositivos del

entretenimiento del hogar o los mandos no se están realizando adecuadamente.

SOLUCIÓN: Pruebe todos los códigos listados para la marca del

dispositivo que se está configurando. Cerciórese de que todos los dispositivos se puedan operar con un control remoto de rayos infrarrojos.

PROBLEMA: El Aparato Combinado Televisor/Videograbadora

PROBLEMA: No hay volumen en un segundo televisor.

SOLUCIÓN: Siga las instrucciones en Cambio Del Bloqueo Del

Vo l u m e n (vea la página 38).

PROBLEMA: CH+, CH-,y LAST (Último) no funcionan en su

televisor RCA.

SOLUCIÓN: Debido al diseño RCA (1983-1987), sólo el control

remoto original puede operar estas funciones.

PROBLEMA: Traté el “Método de Búsqueda” y aún así no pude hallar

un código que funcionara.

SOLUCIÓN: Pruebe el «Método de Búsqueda» nuevamente después

de borrar la tecla del dispositivo de la siguiente forma: Presione y mantenga presionada SETUP hasta que la tecla de modo parpadee dos veces,entonces suéltela. Enseguida teclee 9 - 9- 2. Entonces,presione y suelte la tecla del modo que se va a borrar dos veces.

PROBLEMA: El control remoto no enciende a los aparatos combina-

dos TV/VCR marca Sony o Sharp.

SOLUCIÓN: Para encenderse, estos productos requieren la

programación de códigos de TV en el control remoto. Para la Sony, use el código 0000 para TV y el código 0032 para VCR. Para la marca Sharp,use el código 0093 para TV y el código 0048 para VCR.
