USB 3 Type C Cables
Apollo Solo USB requires USB 3 Super Speed cables and connectivity. A good rule of thumb is to use cable that are “USB IF Certified”. They are often labled “Super Speed” on the connectors.
Apollo Solo USB has a single USB-C port and can be connected to the host with either a USB-C to USB-C type cable or a USB A to USB C adapter cable as long as they are certified for USB 3 Super Speed operation.
Note that USB 2.0 cables are not supported and do not work. If a USB cable or host port on the computer is used, the following message will appear:

Passive Thunderbolt Cables
To make it even more confusing, it is also possible to use passive Thunderbolt cables to connect Apollo Solo USB. Passive Thunderbolt cables are those less than 1 meter and usually have smaller cable ends, due to the lack of electronics.
Cables like this work with Apollo Solo USB:

Active Thunderbolt cables are not supported and do not work. The Apollo Solo USB will not be recognized or will display the USB 2.0 message..

Thesycon Driver Update
As part of the development effort for Apollo Solo USB, we integrated a new USB driver for both Apollo Twin USB and Apollo Solo USB. The updated driver improves performance across a range of host computers and should improve user’s experience.
Users can expect:
Improved performance with fewer artifacts on slower computers
Two buffer settings in Console (Minimum and Safe)
Lower round trip latency (about 30% improved over previous driver)
