Thedumbbellsareshippedfullyassembled,onedumbbelltoabox.Aftercarefullyremovingthedumbbellfromitsbox,therearesomeinitialstepsthatshouldbetakento familiarizeyouwiththefunctionoftheproduct,andtomakesurethatallfeaturesofthedumbbelloperatecorrectly.
Donotdropthedumbbell.Droppingthedumbbellwilldamagetheweightplatesandlockingmechanism,andvoidthewarrantyofthisproduct.

1.Afteryouremovethedumbbellfromitsprotectivepackaging,inspecttheproductsandpackagingmaterialfordamage.
2.Pushdownslightlyonthehandleassemblytomakesureitisfullyseatedinthebase.Rotatetheadjustmentknobseveralfullrotationstomakesureitturnsfreelyinboth directions.Makesurethereisaclickateachweightincrementoftheadjustmentknob.Thisclickwillhelpyoualigntheknobcorrectlytomakeaweightselection.

Tomakeaweightselection,turntheadjustmentknobsuntilthatnumberisalignedwiththeline(L1)onthetopsurfacesofthehandle(Fig.1).Forexample,toset theweightto20lbs(9kg),alignthenumber20withthelineonthehandle.
3.Afteryoumakesurethattheadjustmentknobturnscorrectly,turntheknobsothatthenumber4isalignedwiththelineonthehandle(Fig.1).
4.Withtheadjustmentknobssetto4,pullthehandlestraightupfromthedumbbell.Thiswillremoveonlythehandlefromthebase,andletalloftheweightplatesstayin thebase(Fig.2).Thehandlewithoutplatesgivestheinitialweightof4lbs(1.8kg).
NOTICE:Whenyouremovethedumbbellfromthebaseorreturnittothebase,useaverticalmotion,perpendiculartothebase.Donottiltthe
dumbbellormoveitlaterally(paralleltothebase)untilitisfullyclearoftheunselectedweightplates.

1.Themechanismwillonlylettheadjustmentknobsturnwhenthedumbbellhandlefullyengagesthedumbbellbase.Themechanismpreventsdeselecting(dropping) weightplatesfromthedumbbellwhenitisNOTinthedumbbellbase.
2.Themechanismwilllockthedumbbellhandletothebaseiftheadjustmentknobsdonotfullyengagetheweightplateselection.Themechanismpreventspartial selectionoftheweightplatesinwhichthelockingpinisnotfullyengagedanddoesnotfullyholdtheplates.

Withthedumbbellhandlesetinthedumbbellbase,turntheadjustmentknobs tothenumber4.Whenyoufullyandcorrectlymakethenumberselection,you canfeeltheadjustmentknobmoveintoanotch(knownasadetent).Youwill alsohearasmall,butaudible,clickatthedetentlocationforeachnumber.

Pullthehandleverticallyfromthebaseandalltheweightplateswillstay inthebase.
3.
Withthehandleremovedfromthebase,holdoneadjustmentknobwithyour otherhandandcarefullytrytoturntheknob.Theknobshouldnotturn.Alocking pininthemechanismengagestherotationalassemblywhentheunitisremoved fromthebase.Dothistestwithalladjustmentknobs.
Donotusetoomuchforcetotrytoturnthelockedadjustmentknob.Toomuch forcecandamagethelockingmechanism.

Afteryoumakesurethatthelockingmechanismoperatescorrectly,putthe dumbbellhandlebackandsetitfullyintothebaseassembly.

Withthehandlebackinthebase,turntheadjustmentknobtoapositionthatisbetweenthenumbers4and10.Thisisanincompleteweightselectionwhere theadjustmentknobhasnotfullymadeaweightselectionandtheknobisbetweentheselectiondetents(clicks).
6.
Withtheselectionknobinthisincorrectposition,carefullytrytoliftthehandletoremoveitfromthebase.Youshouldfindthatthehandleislockedto thebaseandcannotberemovedwithlightpressure,asitusuallycan.
7.
Changetheadjustmentknobtoafullandcorrectweightselectionandmakesurethatthedumbbellhandlecanagainberemoved.
8.
Repeatthistestforalladjustmentknobs.
9.
Makesurethedumbbellhandleassemblyisproperlytightened.Todothis,settheadjustmentknobsto4poundsandremovethehandleassemblyfromthe base.Holdtheadjustmentknobs,andpushandpulltheknobstoandawayfromthehandlegrip.Theknobsshouldnotmovefreelyandalloftheselection discsshouldfeeltightlyconnected.
10.
Thetestofthelockingmechanismfunctionisnowcomplete.Wesuggestthatyourepeatthistestmonthlytomakesurethatthelockingmechanism operatescorrectly.

1.IfyourSelectTech®dumbbellhandleassembly,platesorbasebecomedirty,youcancleanthemwithaclothlightlydampenedwithwarmwaterandasmallamount ofmildsoap.Wipedrywithaseparatecloth.
2.Theadjustabledumbbellisinternallylubricatedandwillnotrequiremoreinternallubrication.Thecontactbetweenweightplatesandselectiondiscsisnotlubricated buthasnaturallylowfriction.Lubricationisusuallynotnecessary.Ifyoufeelitisnecessarytolubricatetheweightplatesand/orselectiondiscs,useonlya“food grade”siliconlubricant.
Donotuseanysolvents,harshdetergents,chemicalsorbleachonthisproduct-thiscandamagethematerials,resultingindegradationoftheproduct’s performanceorstrength.
