Bed Monitoring System
INSTRUCTIONS – QUICK START GUIDE
STAND DOWN is a completely self-contained bed monitoring
system. There are no plugs to connect, wires to route, or alert units to locate. Simply position the sensing pad, place patient, and move the tamper resistant slide selector switch to the ON position.
After non-bed activity is completed and patient has been
Positioned and laying in Bed, simply move the slide selector from PAUSE, up position, back to ON, center position, to resume monitoring.
1. SYSTEM PLACEMENT
Locate Pad on Bed, under mattress cover or sheet located under patient hips and upper leg area. Route and Place the Extension Control Unit Outside of Bed at lower bed position. End of Extension Control Unit routed down toward floor ( see fig A above).
2. MONITORING
With patient positioned and laying in bed, hold the control
unit with one hand and move the slide selector from the OFF, or down position, to the ON, or center position. See Fig. B for slide selector location.
The system will not alarm as long as the patient remains
in bed. If the patient attempts to exit from bed, alarm will sound. When patient returns to Bed position, the system will automatically reset with no alarm sound and monitoring will resume. Alarm Volume may be adjusted with Alarm Volume Control.
3. END MONITORING SESSION
Locate slide selector and move it to OFF, or down
position.
4. STORAGE AFTER USE
The STANDDOWN monitoring system may be loosely
rolled, or loosely folded through its length for storage.
Please follow the instructions on the bottom of the Pad to avoid damage and voiding warranty.
5. CLEANING
STANDDOWN is moisture proof and may be cleaned with
standard healthcare disinfectants. Do not immerse in water.
6. TESTING AND E.O.L.
Caregivers should test the disposable STANDDOWN sys-
tem before each use by applying pressure to the Pad with their hand, moving the slide switch to ON, and removing hand pressure. If STANDDOWN fails to alarm, immediate replacement is required.
Thank you for choosing…
If a patient is being escorted from the bed to a Temporary
non-bed activity, the slide selector switch may be moved to the PAUSE, position. To remind caretaker to return selector switch to ON position when patient returns to Bed position.
In Pause position, the alert unit emits low-volume beeps
indicating that the system is “standing by” and neither monitoring (ON) or completely out-of-service (OFF).
If Nurse Call Station monitoring is desired, connect ac-
cessory cable to Nurse Call Output jack on Stand Down sensor pad, other end to Nurse Call Station using “Y” plug adapter accessory.
