CAUTIONS
- Do not expose the breast pump to direct sunlight.
- If you feel pain in your breast or nipple, turn the pump o or slide a nger between the ange and your breast to immediately break the suction.
- Contact a healthcare professional or breastfeeding specialist if you experience problems or pain.
- Portable and mobile radio frequency communications equipment can aect the Opera breast pump.
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching breast pump, kit and breasts and avoid touching the inside of containers or lids.
- Separate and wash all parts that come in contact with breast milk immediately after use to avoid dry up of breast milk residue and prevent growth of bacteria. Always inspect breast shields, connectors, valves, membranes and tubing prior to use for cleanlines
- Do not store wet or damp parts as mold may develop.
- If tubing becomes moldy, discontinue use and replace tubing. Contact the manufacturer or authorized distributor.
- While some discomfort may be felt when rst using a breast pump, using a breast pump should not cause pain.
PUMPING TIPS
- Eat lactation-friendly foods to increase your milk production.
- Stay hydrated and avoid coee and alcohol.
- Set yourself up for success by making things easy on yourself. Stress can inhibit let-down and milk production.
- Use warm compresses and massage your breasts while pumping. Not only will this keep ducts from becoming clogged, but it will also ensure every last drop of milk is removed from your breasts, helping to increase your milk production.
- Make sure you’re pumping long enough to stimulate multiple let-downs.
- For maximum milk expression, we recommend that you pump more frequently but in short increments. (10-15 minutes per breast, every 2-3 hours, 7-8 times a day.)
- If pain occurs, consult your lactation consultant or physician.
OPERATING GUIDE
- Clean your hands and sanitize the kit before using the breast pump.
- Make sure you have the proper breast shield size for you.
- Press the power button gently for 1-2 seconds to turn the pump on.
- Position the nipple in the center of the breast shield.
- Start on massage mode to stimulate your let-down reex. After 2 - 3 minutes, switch to expression mode to eectively collect breast milk.
- Increase or decrease vacuum level and cycles until you nd the most comfortable setting for you.
- Turn the unit o after use.
* Memory feature : When you turn on the pump, Opera will automaticaly will start on the last setting used.
Caution : Do not twist or bend the air tube. Do not overll the collection bottle.

THAWING & WARMING TIPS
- Thaw the oldest breast milk rst.
- Breast milk does not need to be warmed. Some moms prefer to serve it at room temperature.
- Thaw the bottle or bag of frozen milk by putting it in the refrigerator overnight.
- If you decide to warm the breastmilk:
- Keep the container sealed while warming.
- Hold it under warm running water, or set it in a container of water that is warm, not hot.
- Never put a bottle or bag of breast milk in the microwave, as it creates hot spots that could
-
burn your baby and damage the milk.
- Test the temperature before feeding it to your baby by dropping some on your wrist. The milk should
-
feel warm, not hot.
- Swirl the milk to mix the fat, which may have separated. Do not shake the bottle.
-
Use breast milk within 24 hours of thawing it in the refrigerator. This means 24 hours from when the
-
breast milk is no longer frozen, not from when you remove it from the freezer.
- Once breast milk is thawed to room temperature, use it within 2 hours. If you have any leftover milk after
-
the baby is nished feedi
- Do not refreeze breast milk after it has been thawed.
ng, be sure to throw it out after 2 hours of usage.
BREAST MILK STORAGE
After each pumping session, you can:
-
- Keep breast milk at room temperature. Breast milk is ok for up to 4 hours after pumping at room temperature (up to 77°F).
-
- Refrigerate the breast milk. Breast milk is ok in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
-
- Place breast milk in the freezer. If you're not going to use refrigerated breast milk within 4 days, freeze it right after pumping.
- Use cooler packs. You can put the breast milk in a cooler or insulated container with frozen ice packs for up to 24 hours after pumping. After 24 hours in a cooler the breast milk should be refrigerated or frozen.
-
- Breast milk can be stored in the freezer (0 °F or colder) for 3 to 6 months.
- When storing breast milk, use breast milk storage bags, which are made for freezing human milk. You can also use a clean glass container or BPA-free plastic bottles with tight-tting lids. Do not use containers with the recy which may contain BPA. Do not use disposable bottle liners or other plastic bags to store breast milk.
- Storage bottles or bags to refrigerate or freeze your breast milk also qualify as tax-deductible. Most insurance plans must cover breastfeeding supplies, such as storage bags, in addition to breast pumps. Call your insurance company to learn more.
Storage: Tips for freezing breast milk:
- Clearly label breast milk containers with the expression date. Include your child's name if you are giving the milk to a child care provider.
- Freeze in small amounts (2 to 4 ounces, or ¼ to ½ cups) for later feedings.
- Leave an inch or so from the top of the breast milk container, as it will expand when freezing.
- Wait to tighten bottle caps or lids until the milk is completely frozen.
- Store breast milk in the back of the freezer, not by the shelf of the freezer door, to avoid thawing out. Reference: https://www.cdc.gov/healthywater/pdf/hygiene/breast-pump-fact-sheet.pdf
