GETTING STARTED
BATTERY WARNING
To retain the previous user settings, the UH036
will continue to use a small amount of battery
power when switched off. To prevent the batteries from
running down, remove them from the radio if the
UH036SX will not be used for long periods.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
Your UH036SX radio uses 3 AAA ALKALINE batteries for power.
Use only good quality alkaline batteries for maximum life and
range. Note: Batteries are not supplied.
To avoid damage to the unit do
not mix old and new batteries.
1. Make sure your radio is off.
2. Remove the battery cover.
3. Insert 3 AAA ALKALINE batteries
according to the polarity symbols
inside the battery compartment.
4. Replace the battery cover.

Rain or Moisture.
BELT CLIP
To attach the belt clip:
Slide the belt clip until it snaps into
place.
To remove the belt clip:
To remove the belt clip. Pinch and
hold belt clip and latch (see arrows
indicated) and slide the belt clip in
the direction shown.
LOW BATTERY ALERT
If the Battery level becomes low, the
battery indicator icon will appear on
the LCD and begin flashing.

The unit will go into a Battery Low Mode. The Transmit Mode
is disabled. Replace the batteries immediately to continue
using the radio.

OPERATION

Press and hold to turn the

Press volume or to increase
or decrease the volume level. The
Channel indicator will flash when the
volume is being adjusted.
ADJUSTING THE KEY BEEPS
Your radio emits a beep each time one of the keys (except for
the PTT button and the Key) are pressed.
To turn the beep:

TO TRANSMIT AND RECEIVE
The UH036SX uses the 40 UHF-CB Channels. For your
reference a list of the available channels and corresponding
frequencies is printed on page 10.
1. The transmit power of the
UH036SX is 500mW which will
provide a range of up to 3+Km.
2. Before you transmit, listen for
activity on the selected channel.
3. When the channel is clear, press and hold the

Hold the radio with microphone approximately 5 cm in
front of your mouth with the antenna at approximately 45°
angle away from your head. Speak in a clear, normal
conversational voice.
4. When you have finished speaking,

AUTOMATIC SQUELCH FEATURE
The is equipped with an Automatic Squelch system
UH036SX
which shuts off weak transmissions and unwanted noise.
MONITOR
This feature enables users to listen in for
weak signals on the current channel at
the press of a button.
To use monitor,

Press and hold Volume or for 2 seconds. The
icon will begin to flash.

For continuous listening. The receiver circuit will stay
open, letting in both the noise & weak signals.

To return to normal receive mode press Volume or
once.

TO OPERATE IN DUPLEX MODE
Eg. CH1 is being used in your area for
repeater use.

SCANNING
The scan function scans all channels and stops at an active
channel. When the signal stops, scanning resumes.
To initiate scanning,
1. Assuming the unit is on CH1
when switched on.
2. Press and hold Channel or
for 3 seconds and scanning
starts.

or to cancel scanning.

If Channel or is pressed while the unit is
paused on a channel, scanning will be resumed.

DROP-OUT DELAY
While scanning, the stops at a busy channel and
receives the transmission. When the received signal is over, the
unit will wait for 2 seconds for the return of the signal,
otherwise, the radio resumes scanning.

POWER SAVE
UH036SX
Your has a unique circuit designed to dramatically
extend the life of the batteries. If there is no transmission nor
an incoming call within 2 seconds, your Radio switches to the
Power Save mode. The Radio is still able to receive
transmissions in this mode.

Voice communications are not permitted on channels 22 and 23 as they are
for telemetry and telecommand applications. Channel 05 and 35 are
emergency channels and channel 11 is a Calling Channel.

materials and craftsmanship with only the limitations or exclusions set out below.
Warranty Duration:

is; (A) Damaged or not maintained as reasonable and necessary, (B) Modified, altered or used as part of
any conversion kits, subassemblies, or any configurations not sold by Uniden, (C) Improperly installed, (D)
Repaired by someone other than an authorised Uniden Repair Agent for a defect or malfunction covered by
this warranty, (E) Used in conjunction with any equipment or parts or as part of a system not
manufactured by Uniden, (F) Installed, programmed or serviced by anyone other than an authorised
Uniden Repair Agent, or (G) Where the Serial Number label of the product has been removed or damaged
beyond recognition.

Statement of Remedy: In the event that the product does not conform to this warranty at any time while this
warranty is in effect, the warrantor at its discretion, will repair the defect or replace the product and return
