When using your telephone equipment, these basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduced the risk of fire, electrical shock, and injury to persons:
1. Read and understand all instructions.
2. Do not use the telephone during an electrical storm to reduce the risk of electric shock.
3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning, and use a dry cloth, without liquid or aerosol cleaners.
4. Do not use this product near water; for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a swimming pool.
5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand or table. The telephone may fall, causing serious damage to the unit.
6. Do not allow anything to rest on the telephone cord. Do not locate this product where the cord will be damaged by persons walking on it.
7. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electric shock. These slots and openings are provided for ventilation. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product.
8. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product. Take it to qualified service personnel when service or repair work is required. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used.

• Clean your telephone using a soft damp cloth.
• Do Not use solvents, detergents, sprays, abrasive pads, scouring powder or other products that may damage your telephone.
• Do Not place the telephone in direct sunlight.
• Do Not use in extreme humidity.
Caution
You must not connect your phone to any of the following:
• Coin operated systems
• Party-line systems
• Most electronic key phone systems
We have designed your telephone to conform to local regulations, and you can connect it to most telephone lines. However, each device that you connect draws power from the phone line. We refer to the power drawn as the device’s Ringer Equivalence Number (REN or RN). This number is shown on the bottom of your telephone. If you are using more than one phone or other device on the line, add up all the REN’s. If the total is more than three (3) your phones may not ring.

To get the most from your phone, please read this owner’s manual thoroughly. Be sure to complete and mail the product registration form.
If any of these items are missing or damaged, contact your place of purchase.

1. Plug one end of the Handset Cord (curly) into the Handset and the other end into the jack on the side of the telephone.
2. Plug one end of the line cord (straight) into the telephone line jack on the back of the telephone and the other end into the wall outlet.
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals
unless the telephone line has been disconnected.
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone
lines.
Note: Most phone equipment available now uses modular jacks.
Phone cords are fitted with a molded plastic connector which plugs into this type of jack. If you do not have a modular phone jack, contact your local telephone company for information about their installation.

WALL MOUNTING
You can mount your phone directly on a wall. Before mounting your phone, consider the following:
• Select a location away from electrical cables, pipes or other items behind the mounting location that could cause a hazard when inserting screws into the wall.
• Make sure the wall material is capable of supporting the weight of the telephone.
1. Use the screws (supplied) with anchoring devices suitable for the wall material where the telephone will be placed.
2. Gently pull and turn the Handset Retainer Tab 180˚ and release.
3. Fit the Wall Mounting Bracket to the Bottom of the telephone as shown.
4. Place the Base Unit on the screws and push down until it’s firmly seated.
5. Follow steps in Telephone Installation as shown on previous page.

Be careful not to insert the mounting screws into possible electrical hazards such as cables, wiring, or pipes.

Telephone Line Jack
Adjusting the ringer volume
While the phone is ringing, you can adjust the ringer volume of your telephone by moving the ringer switch to the desired low/medium/high position.
Adjusting the ringer tone
While the phone is ringing, you can adjust the Ringer Tone of your telephone by moving the tone switch to the desired tone.
Adjusting the handset volume
While on a call, adjust handset volume to desired loudness or softness by moving the handset slide control.

PLACING A TELEPHONE CALL
1. Lift the handset from the Base.
2. Press the keypad buttons to dial the phone number you want.
3. After you have completed the phone call, place the Handset back on the Base.
RECEIVING A TELEPHONE CALL
When the phone rings, pickup the Handset from the Base and begin the conversation. (
Ring indicator continuously flashes until
the call is picked up.)
ACCESSING THE CALL WAITING SERVICE
(Australian Model only)
1. While talking, you hear the call waiting signal (series of beep tones).
2. Press
flash then 2 to switch call and put the current call on hold.
3. To switch back to original call, press
flash then 1.
ACCESSING THE CALL WAITING SERVICE
(New Zealand Model only)
1. While talking you hear the Call Waiting beep signal.
2. Press flash button. This feature sends a 600mS timed “hook-flash” on telephone line for accessing services such as Call Waiting, etc.
Note: You must subscribe to Telecoms Call Waiting Service before you can
use this feature.
Note: The flash + 2 call waiting procedure toggles call between the
incoming and the original call (vice versa). The flash + 1 procedure will drop the current call connection and pick up the incoming call or the call on hold.

PLACING A CALL ON MUTE
Press and hold down
mute button to turn off
the Handset microphone, allowing private and confidential conversations in the same room without the calling party hearing. The Mute LED lights up each time Mute is on. Release Mute again to resume the conversation with the calling party.
REDIAL
1. If you want to redial the last number dialed, simply pick up the Handset.
2. Press
redial button. The telephone will automatically redial the
last number dialed.
PLACING A CALL ON HOLD
1. To place a call on hold, press
hold. The
hold LED starts flashing. Return handset
to base. (The Party on
hold will hear pre-
programmed music, to assure your caller that the call has not been disconnected).
2. To begin the conversation again: Pick up the Handset or pick up an extension phone, the hold function will then be automatically released.
MEMORY DIAL NUMBERS
5 one touch speed dial numbers can be stored into the memory of your telephone.
Note: Each memory location can store a maximum of 32 digits.

Storing One-Touch Memories
To program One-Touch Memories (1-5).
1. Pickup the Handset.
2. Press
memory button.
3. Enter telephone number that you want to program.
4. Press the
memory button.
5. Press the desired speed dial button (1-5).
Pause
During the memory storage procedure you may enter a 4 second delay between numbers (for accessing a switchboard, or long distance service) by pressing the pause button at the point in the number sequence you wish to pause. The pause button counts as one digit. Pressing pause more than once will increase the length of the pause between numbers.
Memory Storage Card
When you have programmed a number into the speed dial memory, write the name of the person on the Memory Storage Card (supplied).
Dialing Numbers from Memory
1. Pick up Handset.
2. Press desired one touch speed dial button.
Note: Make sure to complete the storing of numbers in memory within
8 secs. Otherwise, the unit exits programming state (you will hear a series of beep tones). In this case, repeat steps 1-5.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Can’t make or receive calls.
Make sure you use only the line cord supplied with
this telephone.
Check that both ends of the telephone line cord and
Handset cord are plugged in.
PROBLEM
Can’t hear the telephone ringing.
Make sure you do not have too many telephones
connected to the telephone line. See information on REN under Important Notes on p. 2.
Adjust the Ringer Volume to a higher level.
Plug another telephone into the telephone socket
and check for a ring tone.
One Touch Speed Dial Numbers are not working correctly.
Handset does not hang up in the wall mount position.
Repeat the memory storage procedures detailed on
page 11
Make sure the Handset Retainer Tab has been
turned around (point facing up) and the Handset is placed firmly into the Base.

ELEMENTS OF WARRANTY: Uniden warrants to the original retail owner for the duration of this warranty its FP104 (here in after referred to as the Product), to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship with only the limitations or exclusions set out below.
WARRANTY DURATION: This warranty to the original retail owner only, shall be in effect for 12 months from the date of the original retail sale. This warranty will be deemed invalid if the product is: (A) Damaged or not maintained as reasonable or necessary, (B) Modified, altered or used as part of any conversion kits, subassemblies, or any configurations not sold by Uniden, (C) Improperly installed, (D) Repaired by someone other than an authorised Uniden Repair Agent for a defect or malfunction covered by this warranty, (E) Used in conjunction with any equipment or parts or as a part of a system not manufactured by Uniden.
PARTS COVERED: This warranty covers for one (1) year, the Telephone and Handset only. All accessories (Cable, Modular Plug, etc.) are covered for 90 days only.
STATEMENT OF REMEDY: In the event that the product does not conform to this warranty at any time while this warranty is in effect, the warrantor, at its discretion, will repair the defect or replace the product and return it to you without charge for parts and service. THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER OR PROVIDE FOR THE REIMBURSEMENT OR PAYMENT OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
