B - INSTALLATION - MAINTENANCE
A. PREPARATION OF THE SITE
- The machine must be posed on a horizontal level.
- It is necessary to leave a free space of 5 cm all around the machine and not to block
the pulling of air placed on the top of the machine.
- Allow a power supply corresponding to the power of the machine, a water supply and
a drain of “worn water” (waste outlet).
1. Power supply
Power to be installed according to the type of machine
Tension DUO SOLO 200 V mono 6 kW - 30 A 4.2 kW - 21.3 A 230 V mono - 400 V tri + N 8 kW - 35 A - 18 A 5.6 kW - 24.5 A - 8.2 A 240 V mono - 415 V tri + N 8.7 kW - 36 A - 12 A 6.1 kW - 25.5 A - 8.6 A
Allow a disconnecting switch and a plug near the machine
EARTH CONNECTION IS MANDATORY
2. Water supply
- Pressure : 0 - 10 bar.
- Fitting: 3/8 gas female (male on the machine). Provided with the machine
- Pipe : internal diameter 8 mm minimum.
- Allow a stop valve.
3. Drain
- Fitting : 3/4 gas female (male on the machine). Provided with the machine
- Pipe : internal diameter 12 mm minimum.
B. PREPARATION OF THE MACHINE
The machine is delivered in a box and is screwed on a wooden pallet
1. Unpacking of the machine
- Cut the hooping with a shears
- Open the case and leave the box containing the accessories
- Unscrew the nuts fixing the machine at the pallet by inclining the case slightly
- Separate the cardboard from the pallet
- Pull off the machine of the pallet and put it on wood wedges.
- Pull off the screws and washers of transport
2. Installation of the machine
Position the machine on its final area, and put it level using the rubber discs if necessary.
B-1
C. HYDRAULIC CONNECTION
The machine is delivered with a complete connection kit including a stainless steel water inlet tubing length 2m and a draining pipe length 2m with tightening collar.
DUO:
The hydraulic connections are carried out on the front of the machine, under the overflow tray.
Directions:
1. Remove the low plastic covers making them slide towards the front.
2. Remove the overflow tray grid.
3. Remove the overflow tray after unscrewing the middle screw.
4. Screw the elbowed part (3/8') of the stainless steel tubing on the brass fitting located on the right of the machine, and the right part (1/2') on the outlet fitting of the water softener. The water softener must be fed directly by the network by means of a stop tap allowing a sufficient flow ( 8 minimum). Do not forget the water-tightness joints.
5. Put the water softener in rinsing position.
6. Open the feeding tap.
7. Do a rinsing of the water softener.
8. Put the water softener in working position.
9. Fix the draining pipe on the fitting located in the middle of the machine.
10. Be sure that there is no leak and the draining pipe permits a discharge without reverse slop until the draining of the network.
11. Assemble the overflow tray without forgetting the water-tightness joint which is supposed to be between the draining block and the overflow tray, and not between the middle screw and the overflow tray.
12. Put again the plastic covers and the overflow tray grid.
SOLO / UNO « See picture »:
- Remove the right side of the SOLO/UNO, connect the flexible, the elbow side to the safety bloc filter.
- A frame aperture allows the flexible passage.
- The key is bigger and the entire surface is active.
B-2
D / ELECTRIC CONNECTION
Put the main switch of the machine on “0” position before any intervention
The machine is delivered with a 5-wire electric cable and with a system of bridges permitting the triphase or monophase connection according to the installation. The machine is previously wired as per the indications mentioned on the order and as per the country of destination.
Before any connection, it's necessary to be sure that the machine is corresponding to the electric network which this machine must be connected to. For this purpose:
- Compare the indications mentioned on the identification label located into the seating
of the drawer, with the characteristics of the network which the machine must be connected to.
- Check, after removing the left side of the machine, that the connection of the bridges
on the terminal board does correspond to the desired connection – a drawing is stuck on the side.
ADAPTATION OF THE TOROÏDAL TRANSFORMER TO THE TENSION OF THE
ELECTRICAL NETWORK
The machine is equipped with a multi-tension transformer in order to guarantee the correct supply voltage on electronics and 24 volts engines.
The machine is connected in factory according to the country of destination. Examples:
- For Japan, the red wire is connected on the terminal 200V
- For Europe, the red wire is connected on the terminal 230V
- For the United Kingdom, the red wire is connected on the terminal 240V
B-3
Once the correct connection done, it is however advised to check that tension “A” is equal to 230V 5%. The low voltage “C” must be about 22V. These tensions must be checked when the machine is on and general contactor closed. See electric diagram

(5) ASSIGNMENT OF THE GRINDERS
Allows each key operating a coffee or coffee+milk cycle to use such or such a grinder, or
manual trap.
C – 6
(6) "PP" PARAMETER PROGRAMMING
Enables the programming of the basic parameters common to each beverages family
(coffee or coffee+milk) which are composed during the keyboard configuration. All the led of the same family keys are on.
These parameters are:
G : Average dose of ground coffee used per cup during a 2-cup cycle, expressed in grams a : Quotient of the 2-cup ground coffee dose / 1 cup
Dose for 1 cup = 2G/a
Dose for 2 cups = 2G
D : Water dose per cup, expressed in milliliters
N : Number of cycles (Nota: if N = 0 the cycle doesn't start)
Tm : Milk foam dose expressed in seconds
Tl : Milk dose expressed in seconds
% : Percentage of water adding (permits to add water directly in the cup)
After programming these parameters, all the other ones are automatically calculated according to pre-established rules, and "re-injected" in the other keys of the same family.
See DIAGRAM OF PROGRAMMING PARAMETERS
(7) "PN" NUMERIC PROGRAMMING
Enables to program all the parameters which are linked to the water quantity: D or to the
timings of water: T ; Tm ; Tl
D : Water dose for the coffee cycles or hot water outlet T : Timings of the steam outlet Tm : Timing for the milk foam Tl : Timing for the hot milk
Contrarily to the PP programming, regarding the coffee or coffee+milk cycles, the PN programming only modifies the keys of the same family and same group, for example, to balance a difference of dose between the left group and the right one.
The other parameters, linked to the dose parameters modified in PN, are automatically recalculated and modified according to the same rules pre-established in PP.
(8) "PS" SPECIFIC PROGRAMMING
Enables to read all the parameters of each key Enables to modify ALL the parameters linked to a key without changing the
parameters of the other keys belonging to the same family and beside all the preestablished rules. A key modified by a specific programming automatically goes out of the family it belongs to. In this case, the corresponding led blinks in PP.
It is possible to suppress the PS of one key by re-select it in PP, and in this way to restore it into its initial family.
C – 7
(9) GRINDERS SETTING
Consists in putting the value of grams displayed in the parameters in connection with
the obtained actual value, by taking into account the type of the used coffee and the adjustment of grinding.
This proceeding is carried out in 2 steps:
1 – Pre-adjusting of the grinding * A test cycle permits to make visible the result. Test cycle: 2-cup cycle of 50 cl. using about 12 grams of ground coffee. * The infusion time of the test cycle is displayed at the end of the cycle.
2 – Calibration
* 2 weighing are sufficient to calibrate your grinder, so that, whatever the programmed grams, the timing calculated by the microprocessor and applied to the grinder produces the desired grams.
(10) RESET GRINDERS SETTING
Enables to go back to the initial calibration pre-programmed in the memory of the
machine, for example in case of replacement of the grinders, absence of scale, bad handling …
(11) PROGRAMMING OF THE PACKING LEVELS
Four packing levels are provided. The strength of the packing strain is represented by a number; the more the number is large, the more the strain is important.
Level
Limits within which
programming is possible
Value
by default 1 0,6 to 1,4 0,8 2 1,5 to 2,5 2,0 3 2,6 to 4,0 3,5 4 4,1 to 6,5 6,0
By going out of this programming period, the machine systematically carries out the phases of self-control 1 and 2 in order to re-calculate the parameters of backward movement involved by the new packing values.
Generally:
- 1 small dose of ground coffee infused by a small quantity of water requires a strong packing: Level 4.
- 1 large dose of ground coffee infused by a large quantity of water requires a weak packing: Level 1.
C – 8
The STI function: Start Infusion
This new parameter is common to all the cycles “coffee”. It allows to control the start of the infusion, and then the pre-infusion, mainly for the one cup cycles. The one cup quality is improved and more regular. That means that the PS programming of the backward at – 04 is no longer needed and the programming of all the parameters of “coffee” keys can be done only by the menu PP. Regarding the improvement given with the STI on the 1-cup cycle, we decide to apply the STI to the 2cup cycles. The parameter STI for the 2-cup cycle is calculated from the 1-cup one. So the change of the STI value acts simultaneously on the 1 and 2-cup cycles. The best value is the one giving the best compromise between 1 and 2-cup cycles. Note: the function STI is not working in the “ test cycle “ of the “GRINDERS SETTING” menu. In certain cases of very fine ground, the pan could be “perforated” during the test cycle (without STI) while the infusion will be quite correct during the normal cycle.
Programming of STI parameter STI is programmable in the menu “Pro Packing Level” by pressing twice the + key to make appear STI = 00, and the PRO key to make “00” blink, then + or - for increasing or decreasing the value. .
STI = 00 is the factory setting (perfect adjustment in 95% of cases) STI = > 00 delays the infusion STI = < 00 anticipates the infusion STI = >60 neutralises the effect of STI and goes back to a functioning similar to the previous software versions.
(12) PROGRAMMING OF THE WASTE DRAWER CAPACITY
Enables the programming of the capacity of the waste drawer according to the coffee
adjustments of the customer, in number of coffee or coffee+milk cups, in order to "stop" the machine when this quantity is reached. A previous message appears when 90% of this quantity is reached.
The average capacity seen is about 130 cups. The value "00" cancels the drawer overflow safety, for example in the case of a direct draining-off into a very big bin (this can be also programmed if necessary).
Default Value 90
C – 9
(13) DAY/NIGHT PROGRAMMING
Enables to program the days and the hours of automatic passage into Night mode
(Machine in stand-by, reduced heating temperatures) and Day mode, followed or not of an automatic cleaning cycle.
The days of the week are represented by:
Monday
Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
When they are selected, the corresponding figure are replaced by X.
To select or cancel a day, it's necessary to press the key when the day is blinking.
Note: When the automatic cleaning function is activated, the cleaning cycles are carried out even if the passage Day Night or Night Day has been done manually (pressing the Day/Night key).
(14) PRO. COFFEE SAFETY
Enables to delete the coffee safety of all the hoppers in case of bad functioning of the
photo-cell sensors.
(15) PROGRAMMING OF TANGO EQUIPED WITH ONE OR TWO COINERS,

- The pins 2 and 3 of connector CN5 of the interface card keyboard Ref.45325 must be bridged.
For the cash computer system, see the specific document.
(16) ADJUSTMENT TURNTABLE
BRAKING SYSTEM “ ABS “
Principle:
The revolving speed of the turntable is measured during the phase just before its stop. According to the speed measured, it will be applied automatically a corresponding delay to the braking phase. If the turntable is fairly free (low friction, none running infusion), the speed is high and so the braking is immediate. If the turntable revolves with a friction applied (during the infusion of one piston for example), the speed is lower and so we apply a corresponding delay (a few milliseconds) to the braking phase, so that the turntable does not stop too early.
Possibility to change the factory setting:
If the factory setting is not correct and you see that the turntable does not stop at the right position, you can act on this setting by changing the value of the parameter ABS located in a new menu called TURNTABLE SETTING.
The parameter ABS is usually factory adjusted : ABS = 00
- If in spite of the new electronic braking system, you see the turntable stops over the correct position, you can reduce gradually the ABS value to (-100) maximum. If the turntable stops before the correct position, you can increase in the same way the ABS value to (+100) till the positioning is correct. Note that the value (-100) neutralises the braking automatic control and apply an instantaneous braking without taking into account the speed of the turntable, as on the previous software versions.

C / CLEANING - MAINTENANCE
1 – Coffee units
A. Short cycle
Cleaning cycles can be carried out directly from the cleaning key then the key (+). These cleaning cycles consist in making circulate hot water through all the passages and holes of the concerned circuit during 15 seconds. These cycles can be repeated several times or stopped by pressing again the key (+).
B. Long cycle
1) Long cycle without " detergent tablet "
These cycles are possible only by the programming of the Day/Night automatic passage.
During this programming, the user can activate the option Auto cleaning. If the option is activated, on each Day/Night or Night/Day passage, a long cleaning cycle will be carried out in automatic. This cycle consists in making circulate hot water, and in doing some piston movements and some sequences of opening and closing of the infusion and cleaning electrovalves.
2) Long cycle with " detergent tablet "
This cycle can be carried out only after:
1. removing the waste drawer
2. unscrewing the plug of the cleaning block located under the drawer
3. introducing a " detergent tablet " and screwing the plug (without blocking it)
4. putting again the drawer
5. pressing the key (+)
The display gives you the procedure to be followed progressively during the different steps. This cycle must not be stopped for safety reasons, in order to ensure a perfect rinsing of the detergent. This cycle is lasting around 3 minutes.
II –Cappuccino device
A) Steam and air circuits
The cleaning cycle can be carried out directly from the cleaning key
then the key (-).
This cycle consists in making circulate very hot water through all the passages and holes of the steam and air circuits during 15 seconds. This cycle can be repeated several times or stopped by pressing again the key ( - ). This cycle is imposed by the machine each 15 minutes of non-use of the cappuccino device.
B) Milk circuit
A cleaning cycle of the "milk" circuit can be done from a "foam" or "milk" key, replacing the milk by water possibly with a detergent adapted to the cleaning of the milk residues. In this case, of course, it's necessary to do several water rinsing after using the product.

E- SPECIFICITIES FROM V108 SOFTWARE
VERSIONS
1 / V108- SEPTEMBER 2002
STARTING WITH THE SERIAL NUMBER 0236XXX (SEPT 2002) ALL THE TANGO WILL BE EQUIPED WITH A
PROGRAMME V108 OR AN HIGHER ONE
I / PRESENTATION OF THE INNOVATION OF THE VERSION V108
1 NEW CLEANING CYCLE
According to the request of the major part of our subsidiaries and after analysis of what is proposed by competitors, we have modified the program in order to stop the machine after 26 hours if no cleaning with tablets has been done. 20 hours after the last cleaning, a warning message appears on the display of the machine to tell that a cleaning must be done in the next 6 hours. As soon as a cleaning has been done, the countdown is thrown back for 26 hours.
Tablet cleaning cycle compulsory every 26 hours. Total duration 8 minutes.
Optimisation of each phase thanks to the separation of cleaning valve and discharge valve.
2 NEW RINSING CYCLE
Addition of a rinsing cycle each time the drawer capacity safety is reset by the key + 3sec.
3 INTRODUCTION OF A NEW PROGRAMMING PARAMETER STI : START INFUSION
This new parameter is common to all the cycles “coffee”. It allows to control the start of the infusion and then the pre-infusion mainly for the one cup cycles. The one cup quality is improved and more regular. That means that the PS programming of the backward at – 04 is no longer needed and the programming of all the parameters of “coffee” keys can be done only by the menu PP.
STI is programmable in the menu “Pro Packing Level” by pressing twice the + key to make appear STI = 00 and the PRO key to make “00” blinking then + or - for increasing or decreasing the value. .
STI = 00 is the factory setting (perfect adjustment in 95% of cases) STI = > 00 delays the infusion STI = < 00 anticipates the infusion STI = >60 neutralises the effect of STI and goes back to a functioning similar to the previous version of
the V108.

4 MODIFICATION OF« CAPPUCCINO » CYCLES
The cappuccino cycles have been reduced in some cases of 17 seconds maximum. Indeed, the overlap of the coffee cycles and milk has been put to 25 seconds instead of 8 seconds previously.
Example :
BEFORE THE V108 Total time of coffee cycle 30 seconds including 22 seconds infusion Time of milk cycle 25 seconds Total Time 47 seconds = (25 – 8 + 30)
VERSION V108 Total time of coffee cycle 30 seconds including 22 seconds infusion Total time of milk cycle 25 seconds Total time 30 seconds = (25 – 25 + 30)
In this case you obtain a production gain of 50 seconds.
5 BETTER CONTROL OF ERRORS CODES
The reading of failures on sensors corresponding to errors codes : 18–21–04–10 and 11 has been secured avoiding false alarms.
Please do not forget to inform your customers of the new programming cleaning cycle, especially concerning the stopping of the machine if cleaning tablets are not used at least every 26 hours.

2 / V128- JANNUARY 2004
Concerns the machines fitted with a software version V128 / V128A and following
On the Tango fitted with a software version V128 / V128A and following, a new electronic braking system of the turntable is setting, in order to insure an optimised stop of the turntable according its revolving speed.
Principle:
The revolving speed of the turntable is measured during the phase just before its stop. According to the speed measured, it will be applied automatically a corresponding delay to the braking phase. If the turntable is fairly free (few friction, none running infusion), the speed is high and so the braking is immediate. If the turntable revolves with a friction applied (during the infusion of one piston for example), the speed is lower and so we apply a corresponding delay (few milliseconds) to the braking phase, to be sure the turntable doesn't stop too early.
Possibility to change the factory setting:
If the factory setting is not correct and you see that the turntable doesn't stop at the right position, you can act on this setting by changing the value of the parameter ABS located in a new menu called TURNTABLE SETTING.
The parameter ABS is usually factory adjusted : ABS = -20
- If in the spite of the new electronic braking system, you see the turntable stops over the correct
position, you can reduce gradually the ABS value to (-100) maximum. If the turntable stops before the correct position, you can increase in the same way the ABS value to (+100) till the positioning
is correct. Note that the value (-100) neutralises the braking automatic control and apply an instantaneous braking without taking into account the speed of the turntable, as on the previous software versions.
How to change the value of ABS with the technical card only:

WARNING:
- In order to the ABS system runs correctly, it is compulsory that the Tango be fitted with the new

- The data cards (green ones) deliver with the new versions V128 are not compatibles with the
previous versions and reciprocally.
E – 6
3 / V145- JANNUARY 2005
From the 4th week / 2005, Tango machines will be produced fitted with the last software version V145
This new version of software V145 was improved with the new electronic braking system of the turntable “ABS system”, in order to insure an optimised stop of the turntable according its revolving speed.
It includes also a new possibility to connect the tango to a cash computer system, in mode Credit/Debit via the interface I/O (ref: 45333). (Principle of Credit/debit mode: an authorisation is requested from the cash computer before the beverage is dispensed from the Tango)
The configuration of the coffee machine in mode Credit/Debit is done directly from the display box in menu “N. COINER” by validation of “CD”.
It includes also, all the improvements of the previous version. Remind of the most important points:
- a better precision in the diagnosis of the error codes which are 39 now (See list herewith);
- a best management of the error code detection: the furtive or false codes, provoked by electrostatic or electromagnetic external disturbances, are now cancelled ;
- a double automatic starting order for pistons, in case of failure of the first start: from now , the risk of blocking the machine is almost non existent.
- introducing of the STI function for 1 and 2 cup cycle.
Remind of the STI function : START INFUSION
This new parameter is common to all the cycles “coffee”. It allows controlling the start of the infusion, and then the pre-infusion, mainly for the one cup cycles. The one cup quality is improved and more regular. That means that the PS programming of the backward at – 04 is no longer needed and the programming of all the parameters of “coffee” keys can be done only by the menu PP. Regarding the improvement given with the STI on the 1-cup cycle, we decide to apply the STI to the 2-cup cycles.

The parameter ABS is usually factory adjusted: ABS = 00
- If in spite of the new electronic braking system, you see the turntable stops over the correct
position, you can reduce gradually the ABS value to (-100) maximum. If the turntable stops before
the correct position, you can increase in the same way the ABS value to (+100) till the positioning

WARNING:
- In order to the ABS system runs correctly, it is compulsory that the Tango be fitted with the new
larger (35 mm) turntable stop plate (FR2032). If you don’t have the larger turntable stop plates the
machine can work correctly with the smaller ones (but without the ABS advantage) by
programming ABS= - 100.
- The data cards (green ones) delivered with the new versions including ABS system, are not
compatible with the previous versions and reciprocally.

TANGO INFORMATION NOTE - May 2005
Installation of the new program version V150
From the week 19 / 2005
New Ref : CPU Card V150 CPU Card V150
French version
45345 45347
English version
45346 45348
This is the further version of CPU V145 with ABS system (anticipating or delaying the turntable failure according to rotation speed). That includes the 2 following functions:
1 ) Reset of the counter of the 26h00 cleaning cycle: (This function is only used by technicians when installing the machine, or if repair. It must not be communicated to customers).
Operating way:
- Introduce data card V150 in the card reader
- Push the key PRO
- Dial the code 3332 The code 3332 reset the counter of the 26h00 cleaning cycle and allows delaying the next cleaning 26h00 later.
2 ) Recognition of data card compatibility according to the program version :
When code 4443 is dialled with a non compatible data card (first to version V145), the data transfer will not be possible and the error code 22 will be displayed to signal the incompatibility. This is to prevent a breaking down resulting from a wrong data transfer.
Important
: Whatever the programme version is, from the V115, the parameter transfer with the codes
4442 et 4441 is possible, whatever the data card. After each transfer remember:
- to reset the clock.
- to start an Autocontrol 1 and 2 by entering in the menu " Packing Level " .
- to make the full adjustment of grinders.
- to empty the coffee drawer and reset the counter pushing 3 sec the «+ ».
Summary of the different codes:
3331 : Reset "coffee" counters 3332 : Reset 26H (time after when the cleaning cycle start) 4441 : Data transfer from Data card to Tango CPU card. 4442 : Parameter recuperation from Tango CPU card to DATA card. 4443 : Transfer from French texts or English ones, to Tango CPU card.

TO PLACE A CPU VERSION V108 ON A TANGO EQUIPED
WITH AN OLDER VERSION
To place the new CPU V108 on an « old » TANGO, it is absolutely necessary to install the following parts :
- The CPU card,
- At least one of the 2 relay cards,
- The tube of the drain valve,
- The interface card, and unplug the discharge valve from the existing wiring and connect it with the wiring to the additional connector of the new relay card.
In this purpose we have created 3 kits FR1500 / FR1510 / FR1520 according to the production date of the TANGO. See document joined.
WARNING : Before the dismounting, it is important to check the outflow of the cleaning circuit by pushing on the cleaning key of the central box, then on the + KEY. You must obtain about 12 to 15 centilitres for each coffee spout in 15 seconds (total time of the cycle). If you do not obtain this volume, it will be necessary to clean the hydraulic circuit, from the boiler fitting to the cleaning electrovalve (scale deposit inside the boiler fitting), before setting the new tube and the non-return valve.
After transformation, the machine must be entirely re-programmed, because the exchange of the EEPROM is not possible between and old version and the new V108. We advice before to carry out the transformation to note on a paper all the parameters of your customer. If you tell us the serial number of the TANGO to be transformed (if the keyboard has never been modified), we will be able to pre-program the CPU card V108 which will be delivered with the kit.
When the transformation will have been done, you will have to :
- Launch an auto-control 1 et 2 via the menu PRO-PACKING LEVEL
- Re-Program the parameters of the customer without forgetting to check the value of
PRO.CAPACITY DRAWER, of the new STI parameter, of the automatic passage day/night…
- Carry out a grinder setting without changing the ground if it was correct before transformation.
- Inform your client of the new specificities of the new cleaning cycle, especially concerning the
stopping of the machine if no tablet cleaning cycle is used at least every 26 hours.
Do not hesitate to ask for any further information you may need.
Thank you for you co-operation.
