Welcome to Ulead COOL 3D PLUG-IN
MADNESS II

Once again, Ulead offers you innovative new tools, bringing
you the power to create dazzling and dynamic three-dimen­sional titles for just about anything - web sites, documents,
presentations, and much more. Ulead COOL 3D PLUG-IN
MADNESS II expands your repertoire of special effects, all of
which come with easy-to-use presets. To apply a preset,
simply double-click or drag a thumbnail to your title. You can
also customize effects in no time by selecting options on the
Attribute Toolbar to get just what you want.

New effects in Ulead COOL 3D PLUG-IN MADNESS II
include:

• Bevel Effects Transform text into a unique and twisted

outline. Or create a three-dimensional object, then rotate it
to convey a longer message.

• Object Effects Create dynamic titles that make a stunning

impact. Destroy your text with three-dimensional explosion
pieces, or choreograph individual letters of a title to move,
grow, rotate, or warp in complex action sequences.

• Global Effects Let your title cast a shadowy reflection on

the background, or simply let the text itself merge or
disappear into the background - just the way you want it.

Bevel effects

New Bevel effects allow you to convey your message in
unique style. Transform your text to an outline, or put a whole
string of text on different faces of a three-dimensional object.
To make Bevel characteristics change during the course of an
animation, try altering variables on the Attribute Toolbar in
different key frames.

Outline

This plug-in lets you reduce text to its outline structure and
then put a twist on it. Animate your title to make it spin like
cogs in the machinery. A wide range of Shapes are available to
give your outline an interesting form.

Create a neon sign by combin­ing the Outline and Glow
effects. In this example,

the Shapes box, giving the title

give your title the look of

Facet

Create a three-dimensional object with three to five different
faces on which to place text, resulting in a dynamic title that
you can rotate to convey your message effectively.

Split up a sentence or phrase,
putting the sections on different
facets of the object.

Resize text on a particular facet
to make it stand out. You can
also rotate it differently from
other text to give it extra empha­sis.

Object effects

Give your animated titles an extra impact with new Object
effects. Display your favorite images on a three-dimensional
cube, or let your title come to life by letting it go for a stroll.
New Token (K) effects lets you specify a wide variety of
settings in key frames, giving you added power to create even
more complex action sequences in a minimum of time. (See
page 9 for more information about Token (K) plug-ins.)

Explosion 2

Blast your title to pieces more realistically with this plug-in.
Ulead COOL 3D now offers you explosions with three­dimensional shards and shrapnel. You can also specify the
motion pattern for shattering pieces as well as the timing
between the individual letters.

Human Motion

Amaze viewers by making your title move just as if it were a
person - this plug-in gives your text life-like character. Make a
title go for a leisurely walk, groove in a dance, jump for joy,
and much more by selecting a Style. Specify the direction
your bends and twists as it moves by entering values for X, Y,
and Z offsets.

You can now exert more control over Token motion with
Token (K) plug-ins. K stands for Key information, meaning
that you can assign attributes to key frames. While Token (G)
plug-ins only allow you to specify a different Level in key
frames, Token (K) gives you the ability to assign more
attributes to key frames. Whereas Token (G) gives you the
convenience of producing complex action sequences quickly
by adjusting a minimum amount of variables, Token (K)
allows you to choreograph even more complex sequences by
offering you more attributes to work with. Another difference
in Token (K) plug-ins is that values entered in the second row
of options (i.e. for Angle, Value, and Plane) are absolute,
meaning that they represent values on a fixed coordinate plane.

This simple animation can be
achieved by using either Token
(G) or Token (K).

Token (K) allows you to exert
more control over your anima­tion by changing certain
variables in key frames,
something that cannot be done
with Token (G) plug-ins.

Token Move (K)

With this plug-in, letters in your title can move in any direc­tion, one after the other, as a group, or a combination of both.
Set different X, Y, and Z Values for different key frames to
specify how far and in which direction your title will move.

A positive Y Value pulls your
title upwards, as in this ex­ample. Enter Z Values to make
letters come toward you or
away from you.

Different X Values move your
title to the left or right. In this
example, we’ve made an
inchworm effect by altering the
X Value in key frames.

Token Rotate (K)

Give your title a unique spin - the Attribute Toolbar lets you
determine the Angle and Center of rotation.

Let your text twirl in sequence.
Set values for the X Angle to
make letters spin around a
horizontal pole. Experiment
with a combination of angle
values to give your title an
unexpected spin.

Make the letters in your title
rotate in different directions in
a complex action sequence.

Token Size (K)

Let the letters in your title grow and shrink with this Token
plug-in. You can determine the direction in which individual
letters will grow by entering a different X, Y, and Z Value for
each key frame. Determine the from which point letters grow
by selecting an option in the Scaling Center box.

With this plug-in, you can make
your title grow in thickness by
specifying Z Values, then have
it shrink in width, either simulta­neously or in a sequence.

Let letters grow and shrink by
adjusting the Y Value.

Token Skew (K)

Warp and stretch your text in various directions. The Attribute
Toolbar lets you select the center of the Skew and the direc­tion in which it will be applied.

Stretch your title beyond recog­nition by specifying values for a
few different skew planes, then
return it to its original form.

Pull your text downwards and
off the screen by entering val­ues for the X-Y Plane.

Global effects

These new plug-ins allow you to give all objects in your title a
refined touch. Make your text cast a subtle reflection, or have
your title itself merge with the background in an unexpected
manner.

Reflection

Create mirror images of your title, or simply make it cast a
shadowy reflection. This plug-in lets you determine what
aspect of the image you want to be reflected, as well as the
position of the reflection.

Experiment with Merge options
to determine how the reflection
blends with the background.
Complex backgrounds can
result in interesting Merge
effects.

Combine the Reflection plug-in
with a creative background for
an interesting effect.

Enter a value for Transparency
to determine how visible your
title is. You can also make it
appear and disappear in an
animation.

Merge Control

This plug-in allows you to control how the color aspects of
your title appear in relation to the background. Whether your
background image is a simple, solid color or a complex, free­form pattern, using Merge Control will make the color aspects
of animated titles change with background colors as they
move. The Transparency box also lets you work with key
frames to make titles appear and disappear.
