3 Description

NINA-W131-02B and NINA-W132-02B have reached Initial Production status. These products
are pre-flashed with the u-connectXpress software version 3.0.0 including new functionalities
and corrections of issues from the previous releases. Details about the software can be found
in the release note [4].

The hardware of each module has been updated with a new version of the ESP32 radio chip from
Espressif (part number ESP32‑D0WDQ6‑V3). The main difference in this later ESP32 chip
version, compared with the older version used in the NINA-W13x-00B and NINA-W13x-01B, is a
correction in the secure bootloader ROM code. This correction resolves an issue that was
previously reported in the vulnerability reports CVE‑2019‑15894 and CVE‑2019‑17391.

4 Schedule

First production parts will be available for shipments from July 17, 2020.

5 Customer impact and recommended action

For increased module security, customers are advised to migrate to the new NINA‑W13x‑02B
versions. Previous module versions, NINA‑W13x‑00B and NINA‑W13x‑01B, can still be ordered
by customers who want to use them.

The u-connectXpress 3.0.0 software is available for download from u-blox.com

for customers

to verify functionality in their specific applications and use cases.

Regulatory certifications applicable to NINA‑W13x‑00B and NINA‑W13x‑01B also apply to
NINA-W13x-02B without any actions required by the customer.
