Interface Cable
Original Publication Date: 2013 Manual no.: 0-5327
Revision Date: 3/18/2014 Revision: AB
Please read and understand all instructions before using these cable connectors.
WARNINGS
Disconnect primary power at the source before performing any inspection or repairs.
Only a qualified technician should perform this procedure.
Follow the electrostatic discharge instructions included with the component to prevent damage to the
component.
This replacement part has been supplied with interface cable(s) for 2 pin and or 5 pin cables for the sole purpose of
interchangeability of components using the Molex Mini Fit Senior connections. Most systems will not require these
interface cables but in the event dissimilar connection materials need to be mated together these interface cables will
be required. These interface cables are used in multiple systems that may have more cables than the system being
worked on. It is possible that the system being repaired may not have or need all the cables provided in this kit.
CAUTION
It is critical that dissimilar materials are not mated together in this power application. Mixing the materials may cause a galvanic reaction creating corrosion which will cause the equipment to not function
properly or damage power connections.

1. Determine if the system has been supplied with a Tin or Gold plated Cable harnesses. This can be done by
examining the existing harness and determining the color of the sockets. Yellow for gold and silver for tin.
2. If it is determined that the system has gold plated cable harnesses ensure that the PCB that is supplied has
gold plated headers by looking at the either the 2 pin or 5 pin PCB headers. Some PCBs will have one or
more of each. Similar to the harness, gold based header connections will look yellow and tin based headers
will look silver.

NOTE:
If it is determined that the cable harness has gold plated sockets and the replacement PCB has gold plated
headers, simply replace the PCB and reconnect the appropriate harness connections and discard the
interface cables. If it is determined that the cable harness has tin sockets and the supplied PCB has gold
headers then the use of the interface cable(s) is required, move to step 3.

3- To use the interface cable simply insert the gold socket end of the interface cable into the gold header of the
PCB where the original harness was inserted then connect the original tin harness into the interface cable.
Repeat this procedure for the number of 2 pin or 5 pin connections on the replacement PCB.
NOTE:
In most 2 pin interface cable applications it is not required but recommended to place a wire tie in the
location shown below to increase the connect-ability of the harness. By adding this tied loop the harness
fits into the machine easier and puts less stress on most electrical connections. This is not recommended
for the 5 pin jumper.
