Please read this entire manual before using your new Tumi Adaptor Kit.

Tumi’s Ultra Slim Universal Power Adaptor Kit is the
ultimate power tool for mobile computer and electronics
users. Because it is compact and lightweight, the
Tumi power adaptor is ideal for travelers; it allows you
to use a wall, automobile or airline in-seat system to
stay connected to the world around you.

Be sure to use only the following specific electrical
connections that are compatible with the Tumi
power adaptor:

• Any 100 –120 volt or 200 –240 volt 50/60Hz AC

wall outlet

• 12 volt, negative-grounded, DC cigarette lighter

• Many airline in-seat power systems (note that

compatibility depends on the specification for the
airline’s systems).

Designed specifically for your convenience while on
the road, the adaptor comes with a variety of connection
tips that work with different devices. It delivers
safe, efficient power to most major laptop computer
brands, mobile phones, and common MP3 players if
used in accordance with the following instructions.

Kit includes:

• 120-watt AC/DC Power Adaptor (70-watt for model

#14353 in Europe)

• Adaptor tips**

• Retractable cable

• AC wall socket input plug

• Automobile/Air Connector cable for use in most airlines

• User manual

• Tip Compatibility Chart (use to select the appropriate

tip for your device)

• Ballistic nylon carrying case

**Additional tips to power other laptops and small

devices including cell phones, PDAs and cameras
are available through Tumi Customer Service at

800.322.TUMI within the U.S., at www.tumi.com,
or your Tumi retailer.

NOTE: For those who want to power two devices
at once, Tumi offers a Universal Dual Power Cable
(style#14354D) that is available wherever Tumi’s
Adaptor Kit is sold.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Please read all instructions in the user manual before
using the adaptor and follow the warnings and instructions
marked on the product.

The Tumi adaptor offers important safety features
including over voltage, temperature and short circuit
protection. However, as with many electrical
appliances, certain parts may be electrically alive even
when the switch is off.

To reduce risk of electric shock, fire or injury, please:

• Remove the adaptor from electrical source before

cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners on
this product. Clean the unit with a slightly damp
cloth and make sure it is dry before attaching it to
an electrical source.

• Do not use, place or store the adaptor where it can

fall into water or near water.

• Do not use while bathing.

• Never obstruct the grooves located on the case; they

provide ventilation and protect the unit from overheating.

• Do not place the adaptor in a built-in installation, or

on a soft, upholstered surface such as a bed, sofa
or carpeting.

• Be sure that the type of power source you are using

matches the requirements for the power source
listed on the label.

• Be careful about placing the power cable so that it

won’t be stepped on or tripped over.

• Do not disassemble or attempt to repair this product;

it may cause injury due to high voltages or other
risks. Incorrect reassembly may cause electric shock.
If the adaptor needs servicing, take it back to the
dealer where it was originally purchased.

• Do not expose the adaptor to extreme temperatures,

especially heating devices.

• Immediately unplug the adaptor if the plastic case

is damaged or opens at the seam, if the product is
exposed to water or does not function properly.

Your failure to adhere to these directions may invalidate
the warranty for this product.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

Refer to the Tip Compatibility Chart included in this
kit to select the correct tip for your device. Not all
devices use the same tip. Your use of the incorrect
tip can damage your device. Additional tips may
be purchased through Tumi Customer Service at

800.322.TUMI (8864) within the U.S., at www.tumi.com,
or your Tumi retailer.

WARNING: Using the wrong tip may damage your
computer or cause it to malfunction.

Wall Socket Connection (see diagram 1 on page 3)

1 Connect the correct tip to one end of the retractable cable.
2 Insert the end with tip into the device’s power socket.
3 Connect the other end of the retractable cable into

the power adaptor unit.

4 Connect the AC wall socket input plug into the

power adaptor unit.

5 Plug the AC connector into a wall outlet. The status

light glows green when powered.

Vehicle Connection (see diagram 2 on page 3)

WARNING: Do not start your vehicle’s engine while
the adaptor is connected to the device. This will help
to prevent power interruption and any negative effects
on the device or its software.

1 If your power source is the cigarette lighter, remove

the cigarette lighter from the socket (be sure that it is
not hot to avoid the risk of fire), store it and insert the
auto connector into the socket. Certain vehicles have
outlets other than the cigarette lighter for appliances.
Please check your vehicle’s instructions.

2 Connect the cable of the auto connector into the

power adaptor unit.

3 Insert one end of the retractable cable into the power

adaptor unit.

4 Connect the correct tip to the other end of the

retractable cable and plug it into the laptop computer.
The status light glows green when powered.

Air Connection (see diagram 2 on page 3)
Use the air connector when traveling with an airline
that provides a compatible in-seat power system.

in-seat power system depends upon the airline and
the airline manufacturer’s power specifications for the
device. Always obtain information about this prior to
using this adaptor.

1 Remove the auto connector to reveal the air connector

by holding the tab at the base of the connector and
sliding it off (see diagram 2 on page 3).

2 Insert the adaptor’s air connector into the in-seat

power socket, usually found on the arm of your seat
or under the seat.

3 Connect the cable of the auto connector into the

power adaptor unit.

4 Insert one end of the retractable cable into the

power adaptor unit.

5 Connect the correct tip to the other end of the

retractable cable and plug it into the laptop computer.
The status light glows green when powered.

TUMI LIMITED WARRANTY
Tumi warrants to the original purchaser that your
Ultra Slim Universal Power Adaptor Kit will perform in
accordance with its written specifications for a period
of 24 months from the date of original purchase if
used in accordance with its operating instructions.
Please retain your proof of purchase because you will
need it for any warranty service. If your Adaptor does
not perform during the warranty period and that failure
is not related to the failure to comply with the safety
and use instructions, abuse, misuse or unauthorized
repair, we will, at our sole option, repair or replace the
adaptor when returned, postage paid, to an Authorized
Tumi Repair Center together with your proof of purchase
and any applicable processing fees to cover the costs
of handling and return shipping. (Within the U.S., the
processing fee is $15 and should be in the form of
a check or money order, made payable to Tumi, Inc.

Please note that processing fees and/or fees for
shipping and handling may vary in other countries, and
that Tumi reserves the right to increase processing
fees as necessary.) If such a failure to perform by any
Tumi product covered by our limited warranty occurs
during the first twelve months of ownership and you
need to have it repaired, we will waive the processing
fee so long as you provide your proof of purchase.

While the Tumi Ultra Slim Universal Power Adaptor Kit
is made under exacting manufacturing standards from
the finest materials available, it is not indestructible.
Our warranty does not cover damage to person or
property that results from misuse or abuse of the
product; failure to comply with operating instructions,
unauthorized disassembly or repair of the product,
normal wear and tear or ordinary cosmetic damages
(such as abrasion, scratches or fading).

The warranty does not cover any incompatibility
or poor performance due to the specific computer
software or hardware used.

Warranty Exclusions
The warranty also does not cover and Tumi expressly
disclaims any liability or responsibility for any incidental,
special, punitive, consequential damages or similar
damages, such as damage to, or loss of, the contents
of data, loss of use, loss of data (however caused), loss
of time, or similar expenses. In no event will Tumi’s
liability for actual damages exceed the purchase price
for the product. THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARRANTY.
Tumi provides no other warranties, expressed or implied
and specifically excludes and disclaims all warranties,
expressed or implied, including without limitation,
warranties or fitness for purpose and merchantability.

The Tumi warranty give you specific legal rights,
and you may also have other rights that vary from
state to state. Some states do not allow the exclusion
of incidental or consequential damages or implied
warranties, so the above exclusion may not apply
to you. Different terms may apply in California.

We will give you clear instructions on how to get your
product to the nearest Authorized Tumi Repair Center
for evaluation and repair. Please note that the issuance
of a repair service order number does not mean that
we have made the determination that the requested
repair is covered by our warranty – that determination
can only be made by a qualified Tumi technician after
evaluating the product.

model no. 14352 (model no. 14353 in Europe) has
been tested and found to comply with the limits for a
Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC
Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable
protection against harmful interference in a residential
installation. This equipment generates, uses and can
radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and
used in accordance with the instructions, may cause
harmful interference to radio communications.

However, there is no guarantee that interference will
not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment
does cause harmful interference to radio or television
reception, which can be determined by turning the

equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to
correct the interference by one or more of the
following measures:

• Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.

• Increase the separation between the equipment

and receiver.

• Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit
