1When using your telephone equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk
of fire, electric shock and injury to persons, including the following:
2Read and understand all instructions.
3Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
4Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a
damp cloth for cleaning.
5Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bathtub, wash bowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a

9Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not locate this product where the cord will be abused by
persons walking on it.
10Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in the risk of fire or electric shock.
11Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage
points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the
product.
12To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product, but take it to a qualified serviceman when
some service or repair work is required. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages

BATTERY CAUTIONARY INFORMATION
CAUTION - To Reduce the Risk of Fire or Injury to Persons, Read and Follow these
Instructions
1.Use only the following type and size of battery: Four (4) AAA size 1.5 volt (24A)
carbon zinc or alkaline batteries.
2.Do not dispose of the battery in a fire. The cell may explode. Check with local codes
for possible special disposal instructions.
3.Do not open or mutilate the battery. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause
damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed.
4.Exercise care in handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conductor
material such as rings, bracelets, and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat
and cause burns.
5.Do not attempt to recharge the battery provided with or identified for use with this
product by heating them. The batteries may leak corrosive electrolyte or explode.
6.Do not attempt to rejuvenate the battery provided with or identified for use with this
product by heating them. Sudden release of the battery electrolyte may occur
causing burns or irritation to eyes or skin.
.
7.All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing fresh and discharged
batteries could increase internal cell pressure and rupture the discharged batteries.
8.When inserting batteries into this product, the proper polarity or direction must be
observed. Reverse insertion of batteries can cause charging, which may result in
leakage or explosion.
9.Remove the batteries from this product if the product will not be used for a long
period of time (several months or more) since during this time the battery could leak,
damaging the product.
10.Discard “dead” batteries as soon as possible since “dead” batteries are more likely to
leak in the product.
11.Do not store this product, or the batteries provided with or identified for use with this
product in high-temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a freezer or
refrigerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be protected from
condensation during the storage and defrosting. Batteries should be stabilized at
room temperature prior to use after cold storage

FCC INFORMATION
This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC Rules. On the bottom or back of
this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, the FCC
Registration Number and Ringer Equivalence Number (REN) for this equipment.
Upon request, you must provide this information to your telephone company.
The REN is useful to determine the quantity of devices you may connect to your
telephone line and still have all of those devices ring when your telephone number
is called. In most, but not all areas, the sum of the REN's of all devices connected
to one line should not exceed five (5).
If your telephone equipment causes harm to the telephone network, the telephone
company may discontinue your service temporarily. If possible, they will notify you
in advance. If advanced notice isn't practical, you will be notified as soon as
possible. You will be informed of your right to file a complaint with the FCC.
Your telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations
or procedures that could affect the proper functioning of your equipment. If they do,
you will be notified in advance to give you an opportunity to maintain uninterrupted
telephone service.
If you experience trouble with this telephone equipment, disconnect this equipment
from the network until the problem has been corrected or until you are sure the
equipment is not malfunctioning.
IMPORTANT: If you have either a party line or pay telephone, the telephone
company will not allow installation of the VTR-700 because it will not work
correctly with these types of equipment.
Under the FCC registration program, no customer is authorized to repair this
equipment. This applies to equipment both in and out of warranty. If such
unauthorized repair is performed, the registration of the equipment will be null
and void. If the equipment is still in warranty, the remainder of the warranty
period will also be null and void. It is the responsibility of users requiring
service to report the need for service to TT SYSTEMS LLC. They will make the
necessary arrangements for repair or replacement. Should you have any

FEATURES
The VTR-700 allows you to make automatic taped records of all your
phone calls. The VTR-700 is compact, and is simple to install, just plug
into existing modular telephone jack. The VTR-700 can be used with
most telephones including electronic KSU type multi-line systems
when used with the included handset adapter.
Dual tape speed - 1 7/8 ips standard, or 15/16 ips long play
Four 1.5 volt, AA size batteries (not included) can be used instead of
the AC power adapter included with the VTR-700.
1. Remove the battery compartment cover located on the bottom
surface of the unit.
2. Insert 4 AA size alkaline batteries, making certain to insert each
battery in the correct direction. Be sure to observe the correct
polarity markings which can be found inside the battery
compartment.
3. If the VTR-700 is stored for long periods of time, or mainly used with
the DC 6 Volt power adapter, remove the batteries to prevent possible battery leakage damage to your recorder.

INSTALLATION - continued
SINGLE LINE TELEPHONE LINE INSTALLATION
The VTR-700 must be connected to the same telephone line that you
want to record.
1. All conversations can be recorded from any extension telephone
connected to the same telephone line as the VTR-700.
2. Locate an existing RJ-11 modular wall jack and confirm that it is
connected to the phone line you are going to record.
3. insert the small prong of the supplied dual pronged telecord into the
VTR-700
REM
jack and the large prong into the
MIC
jack.
4. Plug the modular end of the dual prong telephone line cord into the
RJ-11 modular wall jack.

INSTALLATION - continued
MULTI-LINE TELEPHONE INSTALLATION
A handset adapter has been included to conveniently connect the
VTR-700 to most multi-line telephones that have a fully modular
handset cord. Conversations can be recorded, one at a time, from the
line that is in use at the telephone where the VTR-700 is installed.
1. Remove the modular handset cord plug from the telephone base,
and insert the modular Handset Adapter plug into the handset jack.
2. Insert the handset cord plug into the smaller modular jack located
on the Handset Adapter.
3. Insert the VTR-700 modular telecord plug into the larger modular
jack located on the Handset Adapter.
4. When the Handset Adapter is used to connect the VTR-700 to your
telephone, the beep tone is not heard on the telephone line.

MAINTENANCE
Periodically clean the VTR-700 tape heads, guides and pinch roller with a
soft cloth or a cotton swab moistened with denatured alcohol.
Tape heads and guides also become magnetized over a period of time,
and should be demagnetized periodically using a commercially available
head demagnetizer.
The VTR-700 has been designed to give years of trouble free service. To
help insure its longevity, please read the following maintenance
instructions:
Keep the VTR-700 dry. If it gets wet, first unplug the AC power adapter
•
then wipe the unit dry immediately. Liquids can contain minerals that
can corrode electronic circuits.
Use and store the VTR-700 only in normal temperature environments.
•
High temperatures can shorten the life of electronic components and
distort or melt its plastic parts.
Keep the VTR-700 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature
•
product failure.
Handle the VTR-700 gently and carefully. Dropping it can cause serious
•
damage, which may result in causing it to malfunction.
