It is assumed that the instrument, 12V DC external
power supply, water trap bottle, omni-directional inlet,
DC power cable, right angle USB cable and inlet
tubing have already been installed into the
Environmental Enclosure. In this guide, a DustTrak™
DRX 8533EP has been used. The water trap bottle,
omni-directional inlet, DC power cable, right angle
USB cable, 12V DC power supply and tubing are all
included with Environmental Enclosure. See
Environmental Enclosure 8537 Operation Manual for
further details.
12V DC Power supply should not be connected to
power until instructed to do so.
1. Fasten the
adapter plate to
the back panel
using the 10-32
x 1/2” flat head
screws (qty. 2).
For clarity, the
black rubber
inlet tubing has
been
disconnected
from the
instrument
inlet.
2. Remove the
mounting plate from
the back of the
modem. To separate
the two pieces, push
the button on the top
of the modem, rotate
the plate slightly
away and slide the
mounting plate
downwards.
Be careful not to
rotate the plate too
far or the tabs on
the bottom
may break
3. Fasten the
mounting plate
to the adapter
plate using the
6-32 x 3/16”
pan head
screws (qty. 2).
4. Snap the
modem into the
mounting plate
as shown.

5. Attach the GSM/GPS antenna to the enclosure
6. Connect the
GSM and GSP
cables to the
modem.
7. Using the
RS-232 to USB
cable, make a
connection
between the
DustTrak
monitor and the
modem. The
USB end
should connect
to the DustTrak
monitor. The
RS-232 end
should connect
to the modem.
8. Finally, install
the power
cable as
shown.
9. Plug the
AC/DC power
supply into an
AC power
source.
Instrument and
modem should
power on.
10. LED on the
modem will
blink while the
modem
searches for a
network. If the
LED stops
blinking and is
solid blue, a
network has
been found and
proper
communication
with Environet
should be
possible. If the
LED changes
to solid yellow,
the modem has
not found a
network. A
power cycle
may resolve
the issue.
11. To utilize the telemetry functionality of Thiamis
1000, please refer to the Netronix Environet Quick
