1. Introduction
This manual describes the installation and use of the Formula 1 Race Master. No special knowledge is required for installation.
The illustrations in this manual may diff er from what appears on your screen. In the event of any confusion, consult the manual of t he Windows version you are using.
Conventions in this manual: <key> Here you press a key. The name of the key will appear between the
brackets.
“System” This is a specific term used in a program; e.g., a term used in
Windows.

2. Maintenance and Safety
Read the following instructions car efull y before using the Form ula 1 Race Master:
1. The Formula 1 Race Master does not require any special maintenance. Use a light, slightly-dam p and sof t cloth to clean the steering wheel.
2. Do not use any harsh agents such as gasoline or turpentine when cleaning as they may harm the material.
3. Never submerge the device in fluid. This can be dangerous and can damage t he product.
4. Do not use this device in the proximity of water.
5. Make sure that nothing rests on the power cord. Do not put this device in a place where the cord can wear or be damaged as a result of traffic.
6. Do not try and repair this device yourself. If you open the device you might come into contact with live components. This device may be maintai ned only by specially trained personnel.

7. Have the device repaired by qualified personnel when: a) t he cord or plug is damaged or worn b) f luid has penetrated the device c) the device has come into contact with rain or water d) t he device does not work in a normal fashion e) t he device has fallen or the casing is damaged f) the device performs considerably worse than usual.
3. Installation
3.1 Connection

1. Turn off your computer.
2. Secure the Formula 1 Race Master to a flat, stur dy tabl e using the sucti on cups and/or clam ps.
3. Insert the plug of the steering wheel (C) into the connection of the pedals (A).
4. Insert the plug of the pedals (B) into the game port of your computer.

3.2 Adjusting Windows 95
1. Start Windows 95.
2. Click on the “Start” butt on on the task bar.
3. Go to “Settings”.
4. Click on “Control Panel” (see Figure 2). A screen appears as illustrated in Figure
3.

6. Select “Joystick 1” under “Current Joystick”.
7. Select “2-axis, 4 button j oystick” under “Joystick selection”.
8. Click on “Calibrate” and follow the on-screen instructions.
9. Click on “Test” to test the Formul a 1 Race Master. Follow these steps again if t he
Formula 1 Race Master does not work properly, or consult the chapter “Troubleshooting”.
10. Your Formula 1 Race Master has now been installed.
3.3 Use with Windows 3.1x and DOS
You do not have to install the Form ula 1 Race Master under W indows 3. 1x or DOS. Your Formula 1 Race Master will be ready for immediate use after you hook it up and turn on your computer.
It is possible that you will have to calibrate the Formula 1 Race Master in a game. Consult the manual of t he gam e if such is the case.
3.4 Setting switches
The optimal switch setting for games is displayed in the table below:.

Most games will operate under these settings. If a game does not work, consult the game’s manual, t aki ng t he scheme above into consideration.
4. Troubl e shooting
Problem Cause Possible solution
The Formula 1 Race Master does not work.
The Formula 1 Race Master has not been correctly connected.
Check whether the Formula 1 Race Master has been connected correctly to the game port of your computer.
Check whether the steering wheel is wel l connected to the pedals.
Under DOS: The Formula 1 Race Master has not been set in the game.
Set the steering w heel in the game. Consult the game’s manual for instructions on how to do this.
Under Windows 95: The s teering w heel has not been installed.
Check the joystick setting in the control panel as to whether a “2-axis, 4 button joystick” has been installed. Set the joystick in the game.

Problem Cause Possible solution
You do not drive or fly straight when the steering wheel or pedals are unmanned.
The s teering w heel has not been calibrated.
Calibrate the Formula 1 Race Master.
Contact your dealer if problems continue to persist. You can also search for a solution or fill in a Support Contact Form on the Trust Internet site (www.trust­site.com). Contacting the Trust helpdesk is another option. Have the item number close at hand when consulting with the helpdesk.
