1. Product Information
1.1 Product Introduction:
The TRIVIEW TDR-3604R Embedded Recording System is TATUNG Company’s new Digital
Recording System which is equipped with duplicate hard drives and records data redundantly to prevent the data loss if one of the hard drives fails. The philosophy behind the design is easier operation, higher stability and longer recording times.
The TRIVIEW TDR-3604R Embedded Recording System uses the latest H.264 compression
technique to increase picture quality and sensitivity, while reducing recorded file sizes to achieve the longest recording times.
The TRIVIEW TDR-3604R Embedded Recording System uses the super high speed DSP (digital
signal processing) as the core of its image handling to reach a recording speed of 30fps/channel (NTSC) or 25fps/channel (PAL).
The TRIVIEW TDR-3604R Embedded Recording System uses powerful network control software
which can connect multiple DVRs at the same time to a live monitoring screen on your own server.

2.3 Hard drive installation, replacement and setup: (IDE Hard drive housing may come in different kind), also SATA HDD is also available.
If using two drives, choose two identical hard drives. If two hard drives are to be installed, the hard drive jumpers need to be set to master for the one in the left housing and slave for the hard drive in the right housing. You can also use cable select for both.
2.3.1 Hard drive installation and replacement: for SATA it is a similar process.
1. Unlock the hard drive rack by turning key counter clockwise, then lift the rack handle up and pull out the hard drive rack.
2. Unlock left corner closest to you or unscrew both back screws and push back the cover to remove the hard drive rack cover.
3. Please unscrew and take out the old hard drive if any.
4. Set the first hard drive jumper to master or cable select for the one on the left and slave or cable select for the second identical drive on the right (if second hard drive will be installed).
5. Connect the IDE and power cables to the hard drive.
.
6. Tighten the hard drive screws and put the rack cover back.
7. Install first (master) IDE HDD in the left housing and second (slave) IDE HDD in the right housing if second hard drive will be installed also. Lock them up by turning key clockwise.
Note:
Hard Drive recommendation:
TDR series Digital Recording System Page: 9
2.3.2 Initial startup:
Turn the power switch key counterclockwise to power on the system, if a new HDD has been installed, system will divide the partitions and format the first HDD automatically according to format rules below. If second identical HDD has been installed, system will do the same thing on second HDD. The monitor screen will show a quad window after the HDD format is complete. It takes about 20 minutes to initialize and format 250 GB master and slave HDDs, and 50 minutes for 750 GB HDDs.
1. System will try to maximize partition size, but no larger than 250 GB (Or 500 G).
2. It will make a single partition only if the HDD size is less than or equal to 250 GB or (500 G).
3. Otherwise, it will divide the disk into multiple equal partitions with respect to rule # 1.
For example: For 250 GB HDD, it will make 230 GB single partition: HDA1 and HDB1. For 320 GB it will make 2 partitions: 146.7 GB each HDA1, HDA2, HDB1 and HDB2. For 750GB HDD, it will make 3 partitions: HDA1, HDA2, HDA3, HDB1, HDB2 and HDB3 of 229.2 GB each. HDA is for master HDD and HDB is for Slave. 1, 2 and 3 stand for first, second, and third partition.
Recommend using the hard drive for security surveillance purpose (DVR, NVR) recommended by hard drive manufacturer. To have a stable recording operation, please limit the hard drive transfer speed to SATA-I standard (1.5G/s) by using the jumper (please check the hard drive manual).
2.4 Control Panel:
Control Panel Buttons and their functions:
There are five modes for TDR-3604R: Setup, Record/Live View, Playback, Alarm log Playback, and Backup Modes. The function and definition of each button for each mode will be defined in the following chapters.

8. Enterprise Network Software Function
The TDR-3604R supports enterprise level networking functions. Use the Triview software package for network connections. The Triview software package can be installed on a PC and can control and monitor multiple TDR3604R DVRs through network.
For best results, use a separate PC with Microsoft XP to run as a server with the Triview Server software. The Triview software package is on the provided CDROM, and the installation program will lead you to install the software. After installation is completed, three main software selections will be installed which include: Triview (main control software), the Triview Server software and the Triview Player software. Only TRIVIEW shortcut is automatically created, TRIVIEW Server and TRIVIEW Player shortcut must be done manually, if needed.
8.1 Network Setup

SWITCH
Triview Player
The Triview Server software acts like a central station which will handle all the DVRs and client workstations connected to it. Once you log into the server from a client computer using the Triview main control software, you can see all the DVRs which already logged into the server.
The Triview Server software and Triview main software can be installed and run on the same PC or different PCs.
Recommend using Cisco Catalyst 3000 series network switches.
Remote network suggestion: Under the situation of all 4 channels real time recording on DVR (30 FPS for all 4 channels), remote live monitoring and remote recording through network on workstati recommended. In addition, remote playback from the DVR may not that smooth either, also downgrading the video to workstation first then playback will have the best performance.

TDR series Digital Recording System Page: 48
Before you start with the network setting and connection, you are required to setup the network environment, otherwise no connection can be made.
Triview Server Setup Listening Port: 40000. You cannot change this port.
1. Install the Server software on your designated PC. It is best to have a fixed IP address on this PC.
2. If it is set up on a real IP address (i.e. 211.172.12.34), the TDR-3604R DVRs and Triview main control software will need to set the server address in the setup menu as 211.172.12.34 to connect.
3. If it is setup on a virtual IP address (i.e. 192.168.1.11) the TDR-3604R DVRs and Triview main control software need to set the server address in the setup menu as 192.168.1.11 to connect.
4. If the server is set on a virtual IP under a LAN configuration (i.e. 192.168.1.11), but also requires WAN access, then you will need to do NAT (Network Address Port Translation) or port forwarding in your router. You can then connect to the server computer through router under LAN.
192.168.1.11:40000 < -------- > 211.172.12.34:40000
Setting for all the TDR-3604R DVRs system server IP will be 211.172.12.34 if it is through internet to connect to server. If it is under the same LAN network, then the IP address is 192.168.1.11.
TDR-3604R DVR and Triview Main Control Software Setup (Listening LAN/WAN Port defaulted 50000)
1. If it is set up on a real IP address (i.e. 211.172.12.43), all the TDR-3604R DVRs and Triview main control software will need to set the IP as 211.172.12.43.
2. If it is setup on a virtual IP address (i.e. 192.168.2.20), all the TDR-3604R DVRs and Triview main control software will need to set the IP as 192.168.2.20.
3. If TDR-3604R DVRs require for remote recording/monitoring through Internet, then you will need to set the NAT (Network Address Port Translation) or port forwarding in your router. You can then connect to the computer with the server through router under the LAN.
192.168.2.20:50000 < -------- > 211.175.21.43:50000
4. If there are a few TDR-3604R DVRs require for remote recording/monitoring through Internet, then you set each DVR using NAT (Network Address Port Translation) or port forwarding in your router. You can then connect to the computer with the server through router under LAN.

The Server’s default communication port is 40000. Do not change this port because TDR-3604R DVRs server is set for 40000.The listening port in the TCP/IP setting for the Triview main control software should be set for 40000 also. After running the Server program, select “Start Server” to activate the Server program, if it is not set to automatically start. This will allow other TDR-3604R DVRs and other Triview system to connect to network.
