SAFETY
• Use caution when lifting Battery Pack. Because of the Battery Pack’s considerable weight, at least two people should assist in lifting and installing it. If rackmounting the Battery Pack, mount it in the lowest rack space possible.
• Suggested mounting procedures are for common rack types and may not be appropriate for all rack configurations. User must determine the fitness of mounting hardware and procedures before mounting.
• It is normal for sparks to occur inside external battery connectors during final battery connection.
• Do not unplug external batteries from the UPS while the UPS is operating on battery power, due to the possibility of dangerous arcing.
• There are no user-serviceable parts inside the Battery Pack. Do not open the Battery Pack for any reason.
• Do not attempt to replace internal batteries.

COLOR SELECTION
The BP48V60RT3U is shipped with matching grey front panel and grey mounting ears. If you would like your Battery Pack to match black equipment, you may request the alternate (black) front panel for 3U battery packs(Tripp Lite part #AC4134) by calling (773) 869-1234.
SUGGESTED RACKMOUNT INSTALLATION FOR 4-POST ENCLOSURES
1) Loosen the wingnuts (A) on each of the two
adjustable side supports (B); adjust the length of the supports to match the depth of your rack; tighten wingnuts. Mount both side supports in the lowest space of your rack on the inside surfaces of the rails with user-supplied #10-32 rack bolts and washers (C). Note: Both support
ledges should face inward. The side supports' front and back holes are threaded and do not require nuts to secure the rack bolts.
2) Attach mounting ears (D) to the front mounting
holes of the Battery Pack (E) using the screws and washers provided (F). Do not attach the mounting ears to the Battery Pack's middle holes.
3) Using an assistant if necessary, lift the Battery
Pack and slide it onto the side supports within your rack. Mount the battery pack by screwing user-supplied rack bolts (G) through its mounting ears, through the rack rails and through the side supports.

SUGGESTED RACKMOUNT INSTALLATION FOR 2-POST ENCLOSURES
1) Attach the support brackets (A) to both rack posts (B) with user-supplied rack bolts (C).
2) Attach mounting ears (D) to the mounting holes on the middle of the Battery Pack's sides (E), using the screws and washers provided (F). Do not attach the mounting ears to the Battery Pack's front mounting holes.
3) Have one or more assistants lift the Battery Pack and hold it in position until this step is complete. Insert the UPS into its intended rack space until the mounting surfaces of its ears meet the back of the rack's rails. Connect the mounting ears to the rails with two user-supplied screws and flat washers on each side (G).

BATTERY PACK CONNECTION
To connect a single Battery Pack to a UPS: Insert the Battery Pack's power cable (A) into the external battery connector of your UPS. (See your UPS owner's manual for external battery connector description and location.)
To connect multiple Battery Packs to a UPS: For greatly increased runtime, connect the power cable of one Battery Pack to the UPS's external battery connector as outlined above, then "daisy chain" more Battery Packs onto the first. Connect the power cable of the second Battery Pack to the first Battery Pack's external battery connector (B), the cable on third to the connector on the second and so on. Note that multiple Battery Pack arrays will provide longer runtimes, but will also require longer recharge times.

TROUBLESHOOTING
There is a fuse array inside each Battery Pack. If a heavy overload or short circuit is encountered, a fuse will open (blow). A Battery Pack with a blown fuse will deliver no output voltage at any load. A qualified technician must replace the fuses. Contact Tripp Lite Customer Support at (773) 869-1234 for additional information.
MAINTENANCE
BP48V60RT3U Battery Packs require no maintenance but should be kept dry at all times. Avoid installation in locations with high heat and/or humidity. Battery Packs should be kept fully charged by being connected to an active UPS system, not left in a depleted condition. Batteries left in a discharged state will suffer a permanent loss of capacity.
INTERNAL BATTERY REPLACEMENT
The batteries in your Battery Pack will eventually wear out and be unable to provide adequate backup times. The batteries should only be replaced by factory authorized service personnel. Tripp Lite offers an exchange program for North American customers enabling them to exchange worn-out Battery Packs for new ones at a price comparable to the cost of individual battery replacement. For more details, call Tripp Lite at (773) 869-1234.
STORAGE
Disconnect your Battery Pack from your UPS and other Battery Packs before storing. If you plan to store your Battery Pack for an extended period of time, fully recharge its batteries every three months by connecting it to a UPS that is connected to AC input for 4-6 hours.

If returning your Battery Pack to Tripp Lite for service, please pack it carefully in the ORIGINAL PACKING MATERIAL that came with the unit. Enclose a letter describing the symptoms of your problem. If the Battery Pack is within the 2-year warranty period, enclose a copy of your sales receipt.
