The Triplett TeleTalker 330 is a rugged and durable
professional Telephone Test Set providing all of the basic
features necessary to test and maintain analog telephone
installations. Housed in a sealed high impact polycarbonate
case, the TeleTalker 330 is usable outdoors in all sorts of
weather. A DSL Safe Monitor mode allows high impedance
connection to telephone lines without interrupting DSL services
or causing DC loading of the line. Clear communications are
provided by a dynamic earpiece and an electret microphone. A
long life elastomeric keypad provides both Tone and Pulse
dialing. Advanced electronic circuitry provides line-powered 3
level voice amplification without the need for a battery. An LED
polarity indicator gives visual indication of the line polarity.
Convenience is enhanced by Last Number Redial and 10 user
memories. An electronic ringer annunciates incoming calls and
a field replaceable metal beltclip provides attachment to a
toolbelt or hangup on a cable or peg. Both modular and
alligator clip connections are provided. The high quality leadset
is field replaceable, and terminated with professional grade 5
way test clips (ABN). The Triplett TeleTalker 330 will provide
years of service and will complement any DIYer’s, Installer’s,
Technician’s, or Craftmen’s toolbelt.
Modular and alligator clip connections are provided. For modular
connections, remove the headset plug at the base of the handset and
plug the modular cable directly into the TeleTalker. See Figure 1.
Alternately, use the 5 way test clips to connect to telephone terminal
blocks, bare wires, or insulated wires (using wire piercing
pincushions).
Keypad:
Use the keypad to dial any outgoing number. Figure 2 shows the
layout. Keys are provided for the stored memory function (MEM and
STO) and Last Number Redial (RD/P).
1. Data Safe MONITOR Mode:
In MONITOR mode, the talk set presents a high impedance to the
telephone line. This means it does not significantly load the telephone
line, and will not disrupt conversations, data, or signaling. However,
any audio on the telephone line can be heard through the talk set’s
earpiece.
2.RING Mode:
In RING mode, an electronic ringer is connected to the telephone
line. This is often called an ‘on-hook’ condition. The talk set will
respond to any incoming phone call by sounding its electronic ringer.
3.TALK Mode:
To answer a call, seize the line, or initiate signaling, switch to TALK
mode. If dialing select the PULSE or TONE mode, whichever is
appropri at e. To terminate a call, release the line by switch ing to
RING or MONITOR Mode.
1. VOLUME Switch (H/M/L):
Select the desired loudness by choosing H, M, or L on the VOLUME
switch.
2. PULSE / TONE Switch:
Use the PULSE / TONE switch to select the outgoing dialing format.
PULSE select s the older legacy dialing format. TONE selects the
newer DTMF dialing format. Many phone lines will work on either
format.
Polarity Test:
Polarity is automatically indicated when in the TALK mode. The
polarity indicator LED will light if polarity is reversed. Correct
polarity is obtained when the red lead (RING) is negative (-), and the
black lead (TIP) is positive (+).
Last Number Redial:
The last number dialed (up to 31 digits) in the TALK mode is
automatically stored. To redial, press the RD/P (Redial / Pause)
button on keypad. The number may be redialed
in either pulse or tone
mode as selected by the PULSE/TONE switch.
Storing Numbers to Memory:
The TeleTalker 330 allows you to store up to 10 frequently dialed
numbers for easy access.
While in TA LK mode:
1. Press ST (Store)
2. Enter the number to be stored (15 digits max.)
3. Press ST (Store).
4. Press the number key for the chosen memory location
It may be necessary to program a pause into the dialing sequence.
Programming a pause into memory will cause the phone to wait 3
seconds before dialing any more numbers.
For example, a pause may be necessary when in an office and
accessing an out sid e line. You can do th is by pressing the RD/P
button at the point where the pause is required. For example, to store
the number 2-9429441 with a pause between the 2 and 9, enter 2 and
press (RD/P) 9429441. Each pause will count as one digit. A longer
pause can b e in serted by pressing RD/P more than once.
How to Dial a Stored Number:
After receiving a dial tone, press MEM and the number key (0~9) fo r
the memory location in which the number is stored. For example, to
call the number stored in memory location 1,
press MEM and then
the number 1. The number will be dialed automatically.
Remove the belt clip (2 screws) and unplug the leadset. Remove the 4
black screws from the handsets housing. Separate the front and back
shells of the housing at the end near the modular plug. Holding the
end spread apart about an inch, wiggle and pull the housing until the
opposit e end releases. Carefully separate the front and back shells,
taking care no t to damage the wir es. Locate the battery. Observing
proper polarity, remove the expended battery and replace with a new
one. Reassemble front and back shells, making certain no wires are
pinched and the gasket is correctly aligned. The end of the shells near
the earpiece snap together. Tighten the 4 black screws. Rep lace the
belt clip and the test lead.
