Perfectly flat walls and ceilings are finally possible with the new EZ-Backer.
The EZ-Backer pulls back the edges of the cut end of the drywall creating a
tapered edge. This can now be finished as a standard tapered joint. The
result is a perfectly flat wall. The Splicer installs easily with drywall screws.
Testing shows that the tapered edge becomes

permanent and will not release or cause cracks in

1. Cut the board so the butt
edge lands between the studs,
as close to the center as
possible, instead of landing the
butt edge on a stud or joist as
you've always done.

4. See how easy that was? Many
hangers actually save time when
using EZ-Backer because you
don't have to be so exact in those
cuts. Now the finishers will save
time and materials, and everyone
has provided a better finished
product and a totally flat surface.

2. Slide the EZ-Backer behind
the board you have just hung.
Orient as shown below. Screw
the edge of the board to the EZ­Backer. Drive screws through
the drywall into the series of
holes in the EZ-Backer. Run
screws along the entire butt
edge, appx. 5"-6" apart.

EZ-Backer does not attach to joist.

Only attaches to the drywall!!!

* Note: Recess may vary due to
board thickness. Uneven or crooked
framing may also cause the depth in
the recess to vary. Drywall may not
take it's final set for several hours
after the first coat of compound is
applied and the moisture in the
compound relaxes the tension in the
wallboard.

3. Put up the second board as
you normally would, and
nail/screw the field. Finally
screw the butt edge. Line up
your screws with the others so
you hit the hole pattern in the
EZ-Backer.
