attic area are necessary to allow
the hot exhaust
air to escape. This
chart will help
you determine the
MINIMUM exhaust
area that is essential
to proper operation:
INLET AIR:
CA 2421 8 sq. ft.
CA 3021 10 sq. ft.
CC 2422 8 sq. ft.
CC 3022 10 sq. ft.
CC 3023 11 sq. ft.
CC 3622 12 sq. ft.
CC 3623 16 sq. ft.
CC 4223 18 sq. ft.
CC 4823 22 sq. ft.
The windows in
the house should be opened in each room which
you wish to cool. The amount of moving air in
a particular room and velocity at which this air
moves can be obtained by changing the window
opening.
PROPER MOUNTING OF
SHUTTER ASSIST SPRING:
The function of the spring included with your
shutter is to assist the shutter to open completely.
Because of the variety of shutter models, weights,
sizes, etc., there are several holes in which the
spring can be inserted.
To help identify which holes will be proper for the
shutter as it is applied in your home, open the shutter to about 75° and insert the spring in the holes
as indicated in sketch below. If spring is too tight,
the shutter will not close. If too loose, the shutter
will not open properly. Be sure the shutter does not
open over 75° or it may not have enough weight to
pull itself closed.

PROBLEM:
SOLUTION:
1. Shutter does not close completely
2. Shutter does not open when starting fan in
low speed, but does open when starting fan in
high speed.
3. After attempting Solution #2, shutter still
closes on low speed.
4. Shutter apparently operates properly with the
exception that it develops a rattle while in the
semi-open position.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Spring has too much tension. Remove end of
spring from tie bar and place in holes closer
to spring post, to reduce tension, and allow
shutter to close properly.
2. Fan should always be turned on high speed
first then to low speed, should that be the
desired operating speed. By going thru this
procedure, shutter should quickly open and
remain open during low speed operation.
3. You may find it necessary to move the spring
on the tie bar away from the spring post
another hole which will tighten the spring.
4. Increase the exhaust area for air to escape
from the attic.
