Important Installation Information!
* DSB (Regular and Narrow) BackBox - provides sound isolation to the adjoining area. While optional, they are STRONGLY RECOMMENDED for all DS700se panels and all DS panels
backed by living areas. All DesignerSeries speakers are designed to be installed after drywall is hung. DSB BackBoxes are NOT new construction brackets.
* DSSW SolidWall BackBoxes (Regular and Narrow) - are required for solid structures. They provide LITTLE or NO ISOLATION to adjoining areas. See installation instructions packed with each BackBox. For other installation types see complete product installation manual online at www.triadspeakers.com/support.html.

Run 1 speaker wire from amplifier to each c
hannel. Internal jumpers adjust output level of HF (high
frequen
cy) panel from default 0dB to +2dB or -2dB at 500Hz - 20KHz to compensate for variations in frequency response due to uneven mud thickness, speaker placement, etc. Use spl meter to accurately set levels after wall is finished. Make sure that HPF-2-700 is disconnected from speakers and that amplifiers are turned OFF before making these adjustments.
Before Installing DesignerSeries Speakers, ensure that the building is environmentally sealed, dehumidified, and at stable temperature between 61 degrees F (16 C) & 95 degrees F (35C). Only use with quick drying drywall compound (hours, not days). Do not install when humidity is high or environment is moist.

Triad DesignerSeries Speakers
Triad's DesignerSeries use revolutionary "Diffuse Source", Opti Damping", & "Opti Drive" technologies to create clear, clean, intelligible sound from invisible speakers. Unlike traditional cone speakers, DesignerSeries panels create sound using age-old musical instrument principles (think guitar). We replace the strings with a powerful electrical tuning fork called an Exciter and the instrument body with a strong, light, aircraft grade honeycomb panel durable enough for walls & ceilings. The result? Incredibly natural sound.
Installed as instructed (see overleaf), DesignerSeries speakers are completely sealed and suitable for wet humid areas such as pools or bathrooms as long as the wall’s interior is dry. They work especially well where uniform coverage and even volume levels are desired, such as surround channels and distributed audio. Installed vertically or horizontally, their unique dispersion is perfect for locations where traditional speakers suffer, e.g. high on a wall well above listening or artwork heights or even in the ceiling. Built robust for the long term, DesignerSeries speakers include an HPF-2 or 8 protection unit (depending on model & # of speakers) located at the amp to protect the panels from amplifier damage. Triad DesignerSeries speakers offer Integrators & Designers a world class sounding speaker with no compromise to the interior design of any living space.

Applications & Placement
DS700se offers an unmatched combination of high output (110dB), wide bandwidth (50Hz-20kHz), broad & even dispersion (both horizontal and vertical) - and you can't see them!
They are suitable for Family Room style home theaters and music rooms where high quality, high output, and even coverage are desired. Provided each channel's two panels are installed within 3 to 6 inches (76-152mm) of each other, they offer extraordinary flexibility of placement, working well even in ceilings or corners.
Note: DS 700se HF & LF panels can be installed horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait) and over-under or side-by-side. When installing DS700se high on walls, locate the slimmer HF panel below the wider LF panel. Reverse for a low wall installation.

Triad DesignerSeries DS700se - Quick Start Guide

DesignerSeries DS700se Speaker Installation - Applies to typical NEW CONSTRUCTION with DSB Stud Wall
BackBox* only. See Triad website for other applications.
01)Pull speaker cable from amp through
gr
ommet at top of LF BackBox and pull 2nd
cable between LF & HF BackBoxes. Slide BB
top up into cavity. Pull 2 tabs out to 90 de- grees. Sit bottom tab on drywall. Repeat HF.
02)Securely screw BB to drywall with 4 drywall fixing screws per end through drywall into BB. Foam strips should be visible on all 4 BB edges. For drywall less than 1/2" (12.5mm), adhere shims to BB's top & bottom metal facings.

Confirm sufficient clearance between studs. Leave 3” (recommended) to 6" (76-152mm) between HF& LF panels. Cut 2 holes, 18”x 13-7/8” (457 x 352 mm) for LF and 18”x 8-1/8” (457x 206mm) for HF, with sharp knife or sheetrock saw. Confirm panels fit holes leaving a gap of 1/16”-1/8” (2-3mm) all around.
LF & HF panels: With provided self-tapping screws secure panel to BackBox through holes in each corner. Adjust screw depth to ensure panel is even and slightly recessed from wall surface 1/16" to 5/64" (1 to 2 mm) so there will be no more than 2mm total finish material on panel when wall is completed. Use shims if necessary. There should be no more than 3” (76mm) spacing between screws in each stud flanking the panel.

imp Amp speaker cable to LF's IN with blue butt splice connectors using quality crimping tool. Crimp HF speaker wire to LF OUT. Set speaker in place, making sure cable does not touch speaker back (to avoid buzzing). Crimp HF speaker cable to HF Panel's IN. For 5/8" drywall (12.5mm), adhere shims around back of panel. See DBS Backbox instructions.
Prime speaker surface with thin coat of Drywall Primer containing PVA (Polyvinyl Acetate) e.g. Glidden DryWall Primer @ Home Depot, Sherwin Williams ProMar 200 or 400 Wall Primer.
Test 1: With multimeter, check impedance of each channel & cable at amp end without HP
F-2-700. If not near 4 ohms for each channel, check cable & connections for shorts or breaks.
Test 2: Connect basic system: source, amp, HPF-2 filter & 1 channel (with both speakers). At medium levels (.5 V rms), play tone sweep via smart phone app or test disc. Do not judge speaker sound quality yet. Until wall is finished, HF panel will play much louder than LF. If you hear distortion, buzzing, or rattles, remove panels, fix (tighten screws, move speaker wire), & retest.
Over entire surface to be finished, apply 2nd thin coat of Dry-wall Primer with PVA. While tacky, place mesh or prewetted paper tape overlapping gaps between speaker panel and drywall.

With putty knife, fill corners and 1/16”-1/8” (2mm max) gap between speaker and surrounding sheetrock with joint compound. Let dry thoroughly – overnight if possible.
With blade, apply thin coat of lightweight topping compound, skimming across the speaker and blending with drywall finish. Let dry completely (The environment should be dry enough to let the joint compound dry within hours, not days). Keep total of all finish coats on on panel under 5/64” (2mm).
1) While Drywall Primer is tacky, with a blade apply scratch coat (max 1/16”) of quick-dry drywall compound over panel surface, overlapping drywall.
2) When dry, sand or scrape any protruding or uneven areas with 100 grit sanding block or medium drywall screen.
Complete wall finish.
K
When final compound coat is dry, sand smooth and feather using 120 grit block or fine drywall screen. (If retrofitting panels in existing wall, before final add a 2nd thin skimcoat of lightweight topping compound and sand smooth with 100 grit block or medium screen when dry).
*DSB Stud Wall BackBox increases sound isolation for adjoining areas. While optional for stud walls, it is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, especially for interior walls adjoining living spaces. DSB should always be installed after drywall is hung; it is NOT new a construction bracket. Use the Installation Lugs included when DSB is not used. DSSW SolidWall BackBox is required for solid wall installs. It does NOT provide sound isolation to adjoining living areas. See installation instructions packed with each BackBox.
