CONGRATULATIONS
on your purchase of Sustainer, part of our Tonebug series of eect pedals that combine gorgeous T-Rex tone, cool retro design, and aordable pricing.
Sustainer delivers one of the great holy grails of classic rock music – a guitar that sings like a violin, with single notes, chords and feedback tones playing on and on, until you tell them to stop.
Powered by an optimised compressor, an auto-gain function and a simple set of controls, Sustainer gives you exactly what you need to add sustain to any sound, clean or distorted.
Sustainer is simple to set up and use. Just turn the page to get started.
4 STEPS TO ENDLESS SUSTAIN!
Using your Sustainer
Insert a 9V alkaline battery or connect to an electrical outlet using the T-Rex Fuel Tank power supply (not included).
Plug your guitar into the INPUT jack, and run a lead from the OUTPUT jack into your amp.
Use the COMP knob to compress or “squeeze” your sound, and the SUST knob to lengthen your sustain.
The ATTACK switch lets you choose between a slow (turtle) attack for a subtler, more natural sound, and a fast (rabbit) attack for a more radical squeeze and sustain eect.
HOW IT WORKS
Compressor
Your T-Rex Sustainer is really two eects in one: a sustain-optimised compressor and a “time-release” gain. The compressor takes your sound and “squeezes” it, limiting volume “peaks” and boosting quiet sounds, or “troughs”. This resulting sound is more even and easier to extend by adding gain.
Gain
Once your signal has been compressed, an amplier gradually adds gain as the note your’re playing starts to face out. This keeps your sound going, almost as long as you want it to.
A word of advice
A sustain eect is 100% classic, but it’s also a subtle eect. Make sure to take plenty of time experimenting with dierent settings – until you nd a setting or group of settings that matches your style of music and your own personal sound.
