CONNECTIONS
Input: Connect your instrument or signal source to this jack
Output: Connect the amplifier or receiving unit to this jack
DC inlet: Connect a power supply unit to this jack (9/12 VDC, center
negative, 130 mA min.)
Controls:
Mix : Controls the mix of the dry signal vs. the two octave signals.
Turn this clockwise for more overall octave volume and less dry signal. Turn this counter clockwise for less octave and more dry signal.
Lo A : Controls the level of the low octave for ch. A
Hi A : Controls the level of the high octave for ch. A
Lo B : Controls the level of the low octave for ch. B
Hi B : Controls the level of the high octave for ch. B
CONGRATULATIONS
On your purchase of the T-Rex 8-ball pedal!
Delivering 2 channels of polyphonic octave generation, you can footswitch between two separate blends of dry signal, low octave and high octave.
For instance, you may want to add a little high octave “shimmer” to lead lines and use plenty of low octave for powerful riffing. Or maybe your music demands two levels of octave generation – a little and a lot. The 8-ball allows you to set up each channel for the exact amount of octave signal(s) and you can then easily go from one to the other.
The 8-ball uses a polyphonic, fast tracking DSP engine to generate the octave signals but your dry, unaffected signal remains analog and is buffered when the pedal is bypassed.
content than just the fundamental note which can create unwanted pitch shift artifacts. Overtones, subharmonics and pitch variations when playing chords will affect how “clean” the pitch shifting is. If you hear strange artifacts when playing chords or a harsh sound when feeding an overdriven/distorted signal to the pedal, it´s simply because the pedal pitch shifts every frequency present in the signal. Hence, the cleaner this signal is (frequency-wise and distortion-wise), the cleaner the pitch shifting will be.
We recommend connecting the 8-ball directly to the instrument, or as close as possible. This will make the effect more natural and pleasing to the ear. Play simple chords or single note lines for best results.
HOW TO USE THE 8 BALL
Start by setting the mix knob to noon. This will give each octave roughly the same volume as your dry signal when the controls are set to maximum. You can then adjust the octave controls to taste for each channel.
If you need more volume from one or more of the octave signals, turn the mix knob up. This will bump up the octave volumes and attenuate the dry signal at the same time, thereby keeping the overall output more or less the same.
The trick is to play around with the levels by finding a good starting point on the mix knob, then tweak each octave level to taste and compensate on the mix knob, if needed.
Note: Although the algorithm is very precise and polyphonic, a signal coming from an electric guitar/bass contains a lot more frequency
