TREO Engineerin g shal l repl ac e or repai r this amplifi er and pay for its re turn g round freight. The owner of the ampl if ier is r esponsibl e fo r pr ov iding the proper pack in g and freight for this amplifi er to be returned to TREO En gi neering or its authorized servi ce cent er. BRIDGED CONFIGURATION
AMPLIFIER FUNCTIONS
This s hould be co nnected to the subwoofer( s). Pleas e use speak er cables with a m inimum th ickness o f 12 AWG. D o not short t he speake r wires to ea ch othe r or to the cha ssis as thi s may damage the amp lifier. En sure that t he mini mum imped ance is ONE OHM. The ampli fier has on ly one channel. Bo th posi tive term inals and b oth negative ter minals ar e connect ed to the sam e chan nel.
This s hould be co nnected directly to the bat tery. Please use power wi ring with a m inimum th ickness o f 4 AWG. Be s ure to inst all an in-l ine fuse wi thin twel ve inches o f the batte ry.
This s hould be co nnected to the remote lead of y our sourc e unit. Ple ase use prim ary wire wi th a minimu m thickness of 22 AWG. If your ap plicati on uses two or m ore ampli fiers it ma y be necessary to us e a relay for t he remote l ead.
This s hould be co nnected to an unpainted met al part of th e vehicle c hassis. Plea se use wiri ng with a minimum thickness o f 4 AWG. The grou nd wire shou ld be as shor t as possib le and should be at le ast as thic k as the powe r wiri ng.
The ga in knob is NO T a vo lume cont rol. The gain i s adjusta ble to allo w conn ection of t his ampli fier to source uni ts with out put level s from 200m V to 5V.
This c ontrol ov errides t he gain knob on the am plifier c hassis.
This s hould be co nnected t o the RCA audio outpu t from your s ource uni t. Plea se use high q uality tw isted-pair RCA ca bles. Kee p RCA cables a way from p ower cabl es to preve nt noise.

This R CA jack is use d only when two RSX1600 ampli fiers are u sed toget her in Mas ter/Ser vant conf iguration. The serva nt amplifier wil l receive s ignal inpu t from the ma ster ampl ifier on this RCA jac k. The c ontrols on the serv ant ampli fier will b e overridden by th e control s on the mast er amplif ier. The RC A input on the s ervant am plifier should n ot be conne cted to anyt hing.
This R CA jack is use d only when two RSX1600 ampli fiers are u sed toget her in Mas ter/Ser vant conf iguration. The maste r amplifier will o utput sig nal to the se rvant amp lifier on t his RCA jack.
The lo w-pass fi lter allo ws bass frequenc ies to be amp lified wh ile block ing high freq uencies . Th e LPF shoul d be set to aro und 80 Hz in mo st application s.
The su bsonic fi lter bloc ks sub-bass freq uencies t hat can dam age subwo ofers and ca nnot be hea rd by the human ear. The subs onic filter should be set arou nd 20 Hz in mos t applications.
This k nob dials i n a bass boost of 0 to 12dB at a select able freq uency.
This k nob dials i n the cente r frequency of the B ass Boost c ircuit fr om 30 to 80 Hz.
Pr ote ct LE D
The pr otect LED w ill illum inate briefly wh en the ampl ifier ini tiates it s power on self t est. The prot ect LED wil l remain on s olid if the re is a malfunctio n such as a shor t circuit . If the ampl ifier detects a fault caref ully insp ect for pro blems befo re using th e amplifi er any further.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Problem
Power LED does not illuminate.
Solutions
Check fuses on the amplifier and in-line with the battery. Check power and ground power cables. Check remote voltage.
Problem
Power LED is illuminated but there is no sound.
Solutions
Check volume control on source unit. Check gain on the amplifier.
Check RCA cables and connections on the amplifier and source unit. Check speaker cables and connection. Be sure to check connections inside the
subwoofer enclosure.
Problem
Bass response is low.
Solutions
Check volume control on the source unit. If applicable check the level of the
subwoofer output from the source unit.
Check the gain setting on the amplifier. Check RCA cables and connections on amplifier and the source unit. Check speaker cables and connections. Be sure to check the connections inside
the subwoofer enclosure.
Check the polarity of subwoofer connections.
Problem
The amplifier turns on and off.
Solutions
Check the positive battery terminal connection. Check the connection between the battery ground terminal and the chassis. Check the connection between the amplifier and the chassis ground.
Po wer L ED
The po wer LED wil l illuminate whe n the ampli fier is pow ered up and w orking norm ally. The power LE D will flas h when in pow er on self te st or in the ev ent of a malf unction .
IN S TA L LAT ION
We recom mend prof essiona l install ation by an authorized TREO Engineerin g deal er.
An in- line fuse s hould be install ed no more th an twelve i nches awa y from the batt ery. An in-line f use will he lp protec t against s hort circuit and f ire in your vehi cle.
This a mplifie r should be installed using p ower and gr ound cabl es that are a t leas t 4 AWG wire. Thi s amplifi er should NOT be install ed using 8 AWG power wire . Please en sure the gr ound wire is at leas t as thick as t he power wi re and that t he length o f the groun d wire is kept as shor t as possib le. The groun d wire shou ld be conne cted to unpainted metal on a so lid part of t he vehicl e chassis .
The am plifier m ust be moun ted securely to a so lid locat ion in the tr unk or pass enger are a that will r emain dry and subj ect to as lit tle vibra tion as pos sible. Do not i nstall th e amplifi er in the engine com partmen t.
Use hi gh qualit y twisted -pair RCA cabl es whenev er possib le. Keep low-lev el sign al cablin g as far as possible from power w iring.
