Current Transformers
Description
The IQ system range of split core current transformers are
designed for use in conjunction with the IQ system EM Series
Electricity Meters (not EM/RX) or any other suitable meter. They
are tape wrapped and are complete with 1 metre (1 yd) length
flying leads. These transformers are available in a number of
ratings to cater for all types of installation.

INSTALLATION
The CT range of current transformers are simple to install; the split core, makes them particularly useful where the mains cable is
already installed. There are, however several important points that must be remembered during the installation process:
Always power down before installation.
If power is flowing through the primary cable and there is no connection to the secondary cable, the secondary terminals
must be connected together and earthed (grounded) to prevent high voltages being induced across the CT terminals.
Below 720 V, the primary conductor requires no insulation, but above 720 V the primary conductor must have adequate
insulation.
