INTENDED USE
The cranked rods have been designed for use with the Trend Router Base (CRB) to allow more precise levelling of the bridge when using different routers and to allow for smaller rod diameter routers of 7mm at 60.3mm centres up to 174mm centres.

ASSEMBLY
Removing the Existing Rods from the CRB
Slide the router off the CRB guide rods.
Using a 13mm A/F spanner undo the xed
guide rod lock nut on the outside of the bridge.
Remove the xed guide rod.
Rotate/spin the micro adjuster until it is wound off the end of the adjuster guide rod. Remove the adjuster guide rod and put the micro adjuster to one side.

Removing the Excess Bridge Shims
Turn the baseplate over and using a at screw
driver undo the two screws holding the bridge to the baseplate. Remove all the bridge shims accept one 3mm bridge shim. Re-attach the bridge to the baseplate and tighten the screws.

Fitting the Cranked Rods
n Take the cranked adjuster guide rod
assembly and slot into the bridge (ensure the lock nut is spun down to the cranked plate end of the thread).
Re-place the micro adjuster in the fork of
n
the bridge then wind it along the thread of the guide rod (as per the original rod just removed).
Now t the cranked xed rod assembly into
n
the slot of the bridge. Note: Ensure that
there is a lock nut and at washer on either
side of the bridge.
Finger tighten the outer lock nut.

Initial Router Set up with the Cranked Rods
1. Loosen the micro adjuster lock nut.
2. Loosen the xed rod lock nut and move the
xed guide rod temporarily to the far end of
the bridge slot.

guide rod and ensure the router cutter sits comfortably within the parameters of the baseplate letterbox.

If the router cutter sits comfortably within the parameters of the baseplate letterbox slide the router off the adjuster guide rod and go to step 7.
If the router cutter doesn’t sit within the
parameters of the letterbox lift the router on the
rod rotate the crank plate 180˚ so that it faces
the other way. This should re-position the cutter with the letterbox. If the cutter then sits within

the letterbox, slide the router off of the adjuster guide rod and go to step 7.

If the cutter still fails to sit safely within the letterbox; you will need to move the adjuster
guide rod to the other tting hole in its crank
plate.
4. Slide the router off the adjuster guide rod.
5. Undo the adjuster guide rod nut with an
8mm spanner.
6. Re-position the adjuster rod and re-tighten the nut, slide the router back on and re­check to ensure the cutter sits comfortably within the baseplate letterbox. When correctly positioned slide the router off the adjuster rod.

Now that the cutter is positioned correctly within the parameter of the baseplate letterbox you can complete the setup.
7. Align the xed guide rod with the router rod
drilling and slide the router onto both guide rods.
8. Tighten the routers rod knob onto the adjuster rod.
9. Finger tighten the M8 nut on the xed guide
rod.
10. Tighten the routers rod knob onto the xed
guide rod.
11. Lock in the xed guide rod position by using
two 13mm spanners (open ended) and
tighten both xed and locking nuts either
side of the bridge.

The CRB is now set-up and ready to use.
OPERATION
Please follow instructions supplied with Combination Router Base for use.
MAINTENANCE
Please use only Trend original spare parts and accessories.
Continual satisfactory operation depends upon proper tool care and regular cleaning.

n Regularly clean with a soft cloth.
Lubrication
n Accessory requires no additional lubrication.
Storage
n Always return product to its packaging after
use.
Safety Points
1. Disconnect power tool and attachment from power supply when not in use, before servicing, when making adjustments and when changing accessories such as cutters. Ensure switch is in “off” position and cutter has stopped rotating.
2. Read and understand instructions supplied with power tool, attachment and cutter.
3. Current Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for eye, ear and respiratory protection must be worn. Keep hands, hair and clothes clear of the cutter.
4. Before each use check cutter is sharp and free from damage. Do not use if cutter is dull, broken or cracked or if any damage is noticeable or suspected.
5. The maximum speed (nmax) marked on tool or in instructions or on packaging shall not be exceeded. Where stated, the speed range should be adhered to.
6. Insert the shank into the router collet at least all the way to the marked line indicated on the shank. This ensures at least 3/4 of shank length is held in collet. Ensure clamping surfaces are clean.
7. Check all fixing and fastening nuts, bolts and screws on power tool, attachment and cutting tools are correctly assembled, tight and to correct torque setting before use.
8. Ensure all visors, guards and dust extraction is fitted.
9. The direction of routing must always be opposite to the cutter’s direction of rotation.
10. Do not switch power tool on with the cutter touching the workpiece.
11. Trial cuts should be made in waste material before starting any project.
12. Repair of tools is only allowed according to tool manufacturers instructions.
13. Do not take deep cuts in one pass, take shallow passes to reduce the side load applied to the cutter.
