returned for service.
Warning: To reduce the risk or fire or electric shock, do not expose this apparatus to rain or

moisture. Do not use this apparatus near water!
Warning: When using electric products, basic precautions should always be followed,

including the following:

Power Sources

Your unit should be connected to a power source only of the voltage specified in the
owners manual or as marked on the unit. This unit has a polarized plug. Do not use
with an extension cord or receptacle unless the plug can be fully inserted. Precau­tions should be taken so that the grounding scheme on the unit is not defeated. An
apparatus with CLASS I construction shall be connected to a Mains socket outlet with
a protective earthing ground. Where the MAINS plug or an appliance coupler is used
as the disconnect device, the disconnect device shall remain readily operable.

Hazards

Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table. The
product may fall, causing serious personal injury and serious damage to the product.
Use only with cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table recommended by the manufacturer
or sold with the product. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions when installing the
product and use mounting accessories recommended by the manufacturer. Only use
attachments/accessories specified by the manufacturer

Note: Prolonged use of headphones at a high volume may cause
health damage on your ears.

The apparatus should not be exposed to dripping or splashing water; no objects

filled with liquids should be placed on the apparatus.

Terminals marked with the “lightning bolt” are hazardous live; the external wiring

connected to these terminals require installation by an instructed person or the use of
ready made leads or cords.

Ensure that proper ventilation is provided around the appliance. Do not install near

any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus
(including amplifiers) that produce heat.

No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.

Power Cord

Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug
has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a
third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong are provided for your safety. If the
provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the

obsolete outlet. The AC supply cord should be routed so that it is unlikely that it will be
damaged. Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs. If
the AC supply cord is damaged DO NOT OPERATE THE UNIT. To completely disconnect
this apparatus from the AC Mains, disconnect the power supply cord plug from the AC
receptacle. The mains plug of the power supply cord shall remain readily operable.

Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

Service

The unit should be serviced only by qualified service personnel. Servicing is required
when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plug is
damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen into the apparatus, the apparatus
has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally, or has been dropped.

Alimentation

L’ appareil ne doit être branché qu’à une source d’alimentation correspondant au
voltage spécifié dans le manuel ou tel qu’indiqué sur l’appareil. Cet appareil est équipé
d’une prise d’alimentation polarisée. Ne pas utiliser cet appareil avec un cordon de
raccordement à moins qu’il soit possible d’insérer complètement les trois lames. Des
précautions doivent êtres prises afin d’eviter que le système de mise à la terre de
l’appareil ne soit désengagé. Un appareil construit selon les normes de CLASS I
devrait être raccordé à une prise murale d’alimentation avec connexion intacte de mise
à la masse. Lorsqu’une prise de branchement ou un coupleur d'appareils est utilisée
comme dispositif de débranchement, ce dispositif de débranchement devra demeurer
pleinement fonctionnel avec raccordement à la masse.

Risque

Cordon d’Alimentation

Ne pas enlever le dispositif de sécurité sur la prise polarisée ou la prise avec tige de
mise à la masse du cordon d’alimentation. Une prise polarisée dispose de deux lames
dont une plus large que l’autre. Une prise avec tige de mise à la masse dispose de
deux lames en plus d’une troisième tige qui connecte à la masse. La lame plus large ou
la tige de mise à la masse est prévu pour votre sécurité. La prise murale est désuète si
elle n’est pas conçue pour accepter ce type de prise avec dispositif de sécurité. Dans
ce cas, contactez un électricien pour faire remplacer la prise murale. Évitez
d’endommager le cordon d’alimentation. Protégez le cordon d’alimentation. Assurez­vous qu’on ne marche pas dessus et qu’on ne le pince pas en particulier aux prises.
N’UTILISEZ PAS L’APPAREIL si le cordon d’alimentation est endommagé. Pour
débrancher complètement cet appareil de l’alimentation CA principale, déconnectez le
cordon d’alimentation de la prise d’alimentation murale. Le cordon d’alimentation du
bloc d’alimentation de l’appareil doit demeurer pleinement fonctionnel.

Débranchez cet appareil durant les orages ou si inutilisé pendant de longues périodes.

Service

Consultez un technicien qualifié pour l’entretien de votre appareil. L'entretien est
nécessaire quand l'appareil a été endommagé de quelque façon que se soit. Par exemple
si le cordon d’alimentation ou la prise du cordon sont endommagés, si il y a eu du liquide
qui a été renversé à l’intérieur ou des objets sont tombés dans l'appareil, si l'appareil a été
exposé à la pluie ou à l'humidité, si il ne fonctionne pas normalement, ou a été échappé.

Thank you for choosing the Traynor YBA300 All-Tube Bass Amplifier. This amplifier
represents the best of vintage design and the latest technology in a high power tube bass
amplifier.

The YBA300 uses a combination of tried-and-true vintage design with modern technology.
This achieves the kind of tube warmth and tone you expect from an all-tube bass amp with
unsurpassed reliability. The layout is simple and straightforward with no nonsense tone
controls, just plug in and play.

Take some time to read this manual and learn about the unique features which this
amplifier has to offer. We wish you and your YBA300 many years of happy gigging together.

Features

• Three 12AX7 pre-amp tubes, a 12AU7 Driver, and twelve 6L6/EL34 power output tubes

making 300 Watts of all tube power and tone.

• 3-Band tone controls with frequency selectable Mid control along with Deep, Bright, and

Resonance tone switches.

• True balanced D.I./Line output. Selectable Pre-EQ or Post-EQ and Ground Lift.

• Effects Send and Return jacks (Pre-Amp Out and Power Amp Input). These jacks

provide direct access to the YBA300’s signal chain so you may slave out, or slave into,

another amp; or you can use these jacks as an effects loop (for professional-grade
signal processing equipment).

• Tuner Out jack.

• Individual tube Bias Adjust, Indicator LEDs, and lockout so you will always know the

status of your tubes.

1. The Power and Standby Toggle Switches

Due to the nature of vacuum tubes, we suggest the

YBA300 be powered up for a few minutes prior to
using. This will allow the tubes to warm up. The pilot
light glows red when the amplifier is engaged; it

glows amber when in Standby mode.

Note: Before powering up and disengaging the
Standby switch make sure speaker cabinets are
connected to the output jacks.

Standby

When the amplifier is warmed up, disengage the Standby switch and get ready to

experience the classic tone of a Traynor Bassmaster All-Tube Amplifier.

Note: It’s also recommended to leave the amplifier powered up during set breaks, The Standby
switch cuts all output from the power amplifier.

2. 0dB / Passive and -6dB / Active Input Jacks

The YBA300 is equipped with two input jacks. The 0dB/Passive input feeds the first tube
input-stage directly while the -6dB/Active input applies a pad to it. The -6dB input is usually

used for bass guitars that have active pickups, or extremely hot levels.

3. Deep Switch

The YBA300 is equipped with a Deep switch to help accentuate deep bass and treble frequencies.

4. Bright Switch

The Bright switch provides a small amount of treble boost for added presence. The effect is
more pronounced at lower gain settings.

5. Resonance Switch

The Resonance switch is placed in the output stage of the power amplifier and controls the

amount of low frequency damping. Pushing in the switch reduces the damping factor and

allows the resonance of the speaker cabinet to be more pronounced.

Tip: Having the switch out will increase the damping factor and produce a tighter sound.

6. Gain Control

The Gain control is placed immediately after the first tube-stage and is used in conjunction with
the Master volume control to help achieve the proper sound and feel. This control also allows the
capability of giving a warm more saturated tube sound when turned up (even at low volume levels).

7. 3-Band Equalization and Frequency Control

The YBA300 features vintage passive Bass and Treble controls. Additionally, the tone

controls are equipped with a Frequency adjustable Mid control.

8. Master Volume

The Master control adjusts the overall output level of the amplifier. The level being sent to
the Balanced Line Output is not affected allowing the signal at the mixing console to be

unaffected by adjustments during performance.

9. Effects Loop (Pre-Amp Out and Power Amp In)

The Effects Loop (Pre-Amp Out and the Power Amp Input) jacks provide versatility not
usually associated with vintage tube amplifiers. The Effects Send jack (Pre-Amp Out) can be
used as an effects send or to slave another YBA300. The Effects Return (Power Amp Input
jack) goes directly to the YBA300’s power amplifier, bypassing the pre-amp, which makes a
perfect effects return. The Effects Return (Power Amp Input) also lets the YBA300 be a true

slave from another pre-amp.

Note: The output signal of the Effects Send (Pre-Amp Out) is set at 0 VU. When using the
Effects Send (Pre-Amp Out) as an effects loop it’s recommended to use professional-grade
signal processing equipment (pedal effects might not have enough headroom).

10. Line Out XLR Jack, Selector and Ground Lift Switches

The YBA300 is equipped with a balanced D.I./Line output. You can select a direct, clean
signal (Pre-EQ setting which delivers the sound directly to the Balanced Line Out) or tap
the signal after the pre-amp (Post-EQ). Both signals are routed to the Balanced Line Out
before the Master volume. A Ground Lift (lifts Pin 1 of the XLR) is also provided to help when

routing signals directly to other equipment or mixing consoles.

11. Tuner Output

The YBA300 features a ¼-inch Tuner Output jack to enable direct connection with a tuner

without affecting the signal path into your amplifier.

12. Speaker Impedance Switch and Speaker Output Jacks

Extension speaker cabinets are connected using the Speaker ¼-inch output jacks or the
“Speakon” connector. Connections to these jacks are in parallel. Using the Speaker Load
switch, the output of the YBA300 can be optimized to provide the rated full power (300 watts)
for selected loads (4-ohms or 2-ohms).
