Updating Firmware
Your EZ-Peak Live Dual charger has the ability to receive firmware updates that can add new features and
capabilities. Firmware updates are performed via the EZ-Peak Live App (see Traxxas EZ-Peak Live Application

LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries
are made from stacks of flat
rectangular cells so the battery
pack is rectangular, blocky, and has
square corners. LiPo batteries also
have balance connectors. For older Traxxas batteries
with first generation High-Current Connectors, the
balance connector and the multi-colored balance
wires are separate. For Traxxas iD batteries, the
balance wires are integrated into the iD High-Current
Connector (see Know your connectors on page 6).

Do not attempt to charge any battery that
has a missing or unreadable label that
prevents you from properly identifying
the battery type and specifications.

Know your Batteries
The EZ-Peak Live Dual is able to charge two different types (chemistries) of batteries: NiMH and LiPo.
Batteries are normally clearly labeled, but they can also be visually identified as a confirmation step.
NiMH Battery
Connector with iD
NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride)
batteries are constructed using
5, 6, 7, or 8 round battery cells
that are soldered together and
wrapped with heat shrink material.
NiMH batteries do not have a separate
balance wire.

WARNING: FIRE HAZARD!
The fast charge LiPo setting is for occasional use only. LiPo
batteries that become severely out of balance over time can
create a hazard if one or more cells are discharged below
the recommended safe voltage during use. See additional
warnings and precautions in the beginning of this manual.
Storage Charge
Makes it easy to charge or discharge batteries to the proper storage
voltage. Use this mode whenever batteries will be stored unused for
more than 7 days.
Fast Charge
Fast charges your batteries without balancing the cells. Stops charging
when the batteries are fully charged or when the first cells reach peak
voltage. Depending on the batteries, this may reduce the charge time
by a few minutes.
Balance Charge (recommended)
Always balance charge your LiPo batteries for maximum capacity,
voltage, and battery life. This is the default setting for Traxxas iD
batteries. The EZ-Peak Live Dual performs a balance charge quickly and
efficiently.
The default LiPo charge setting is Balance Charge. You can change the LiPo charge setting, if desired.

Charging Traxxas iD NiMH or LiPo Batteries
using the EZ-Peak Live App
When EZ-Peak Live Dual is connected, you have the ability to
configure the charger remotely from the app or you can use the
buttons on the charger. EZ-Peak Live Dual will not allow you to
start the charging process remotely via the app. It is important
to verify visually at the charger that the connected batter(ies)
match the charge mode indicated on the face of charger. Once
your charge settings are visually confirmed by you, press and hold
the Start button on the charger for 2 seconds to begin charging.
Once charging has started, you can view charge progress and
stop the charging process at any time from the app. When the
charge process is completed, the EZ-Peak Live App will play the
charge complete alert tone. These alerts can be adjusted in the
app settings. Follow the on-screen prompts to move through the
information screens provided in the app. If you have questions, tap
the Help button ? in the lower right of the app display.
iD-Only Safety Lock
The EZ-Peak Live App contains a passcode-protected safety lock that limits the charger to iD-only operation,
even when connected to the app on another iOS® or Android™ device. This feature allows the charger to be
locked so that inexperienced users (such as children) do not have access to manual settings for the charger and
the risks associated with using manual settings (see Warnings on page 2).
