AW8001isaBT4.0Module,It’smainphysicalfeaturesaretheBluetoothlowenergy PHYandtheBluetoothlowenergystackthathandlesthelinkcontrollerandhoststack.It alsoincludesadditionalanalogsub-systemsneededfortheBluetoothlowenergyoperation,
suchaspowermanagementandseveraloscillatoroptions.

AW8001hason-chipnon-volatilememoryforstoringserviceconfigurations.This on-chipstorageletsyouselectandcombinethenecessaryservicesforyourapplication, reducingtherequirementsonyourapplicationcontrollerforhandlingallreal-time operationsrelatedtotheBluetoothlowenergycommunicationprotocol.
AW8001includesapowersupplyvoltagemonitorandatemperaturesensorthat furtherreducestherequirementstotheapplicationcontroller.Thesefeaturesare accessiblethroughtheApplicationControllerInterface(ACI).
AW8001alsooffersanoptionaloutputsignalthatisactivatedbeforetheradio becomesactive.Thistimingsignalenablesyoutocontrolthepeakcurrentdrainofyour application,avoidingoverloadofyourpowersupply(formostapplicationsthisisusuallya smallbattery).Youcanalsousethistimingsignaltocontroltheapplicationcircuitry, avoidingnoiseinterferencewhentheAW8001radioisoperating.
Aseparateserialinterface(UART)givesyouaccesstotheBluetoothlowenergyDirect TestMode(DTM).ThisinterfaceisusedtocontroltheBluetoothlowenergyradio(RFPHY) andissupportedbycommerciallyavailableBluetoothtestequipmentusedforBluetooth qualification.Thisserialinterfacealsoenablesyoutotestradioperformanceandto optimizeyourantenna.
