General Use

To prevent damage cause by electrostatic discharge (ESD), always touch a grounded or
large metal object before handling the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter.

During operation, avoid exposing the card to extreme temperatures above 35℃(95℉),
or below 5℃(41℉).

Do not allow the card to come in contact with water or any other liquids.
•
Do not store the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter in any of the following environments:

Transcend does NOT take any responsibility for data loss or damage during
operation. We strongly advise that you regularly create backups of important data in
multiple locations and on different storage mediums.

o Next to an air conditioner, electric heater or other heat sources
o In a closed car that is in direct sunlight

To ensure Super-Speed 5Gb/s data transfer rates when connecting a USB 3.0 storage
device, please make sure the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter drivers are correctly
installed. Please refer to the driver installation section of this manual.
The power provided by your computer’s ExpressCard/34 slot might be insufficient to
power devices with high power consumption, such as 2.5" external hard drives. Always
connect the USB Power Cable to USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter when connecting any
device with high USB power consumption.
To ensure proper functionality of USB-powered
devices, always be sure to connect the USB
Power Cable to the USB 3.0 Express Card.

Hardware Installation︱
1. Plug the USB 3.0 Adapter (curved side up) into your notebook’s ExpressCard/34
slot. Ensure that the card is fully inserted into the slot.

2. Connect the included USB Power Cable to the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter and to
one of your notebook’s USB ports.
Some notebooks have ExpressCard/54 slots, which are also compatible with
ExpressCard/34 devices. Please consult the owner’s manual of your notebook for details
WARNING
1. Disconnect all USB devices from the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter before
plugging in the Power Cable.
2. To ensure proper functionality of USB-powered devices, always be sure to
connect the USB Power Cable to the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter.
3. Do NOT use a power cable other than the one provided with Transcend USB 3.0
ExpressCard Adapter.
3. Install the driver (see Driver Installation below).
4. Plug a USB device into one of the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter’s ports. Your
computer should automatically detect the USB device.

Driver Installation︱︱︱︱
1. Insert the Driver CD into your CD-ROM drive.
2. The AutoPlay window should appear. Click on “Driver” to begin the installation.
3. The installation wizard will start. Click “Next” to continue.

4. Choose “I accept the terms of the license agreement” and then click “Next.”
5. Choose a destination folder for the driver files and click “Next” again.
6. Click “Install.”

7. Once the driver has finished installing, click “Finish” to exit the wizard.
8. Restart your system.

Troubleshooting︱
If a problem occurs with your USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter, please first check the information
listed below before taking the card in for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem after trying
the following suggestions, please consult your dealer, service center, or local Transcend branch
office. We also have FAQ and Support services on our website.
USB 3.0 devices cannot be recognized
Check the following:
1. Is your USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter properly plugged into the ExpressCard/34 slot? If
not, unplug it and plug it in again. Try plugging the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter into
another ExpressCard/34 (or ExpressCard/54) slot, if available.
2. Ensure that the driver has been installed successfully.
3. Is the ExpressCard/34 slot disabled in the BIOS settings? Please see your notebook’s
user manual for instructions on how to enter the BIOS and enable its ExpressCard/34 slot.
4. Have you attached the USB Power Cable? Ensure that you have securely connected the
USB Power Cable to the Adapter and to your computer’s USB port.
To ensure proper functionality of USB-powered
devices, always be sure to connect the USB Power
Cable to the USB3.0 ExpressCard Adapter.
5. Ensure that your computer BIOS has been updated to the latest version.
My computer cannot power on
Check the following:
1. Ensure that the USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter is properly connected to the
ExpressCard/34 slot on your notebook. Try unplugging the adapter and reconnecting it.
2. Ensure that computer’s boot drive (HDD) is connected properly.
3. USB devices can sometimes cause conflicts that can prevent your computer from turning
on. Try unplugging USB devices from the USB ports on your computer or the USB 3.0
ExpressCard Adapter.

the recommended environment due to improper workmanship or materials, Transcend will repair
the product or replace it with a comparable one. This warranty is subject to the conditions and
limitations set forth herein.
Duration of Warranty: The Transcend USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter is covered by this warranty
for a period of two (2) years from the date of purchase. Proof of purchase including the date of
purchase is required to collect on the warranty. Transcend will inspect the product and decide
whether to repair or replace it. Transcend reserves the right to provide a functional equivalent
product, or a refurbished replacement product.
Limitations: This warranty does not apply to product failure caused by accidents, abuse,
mishandling, improper installation, alteration, acts of nature, improper usage, or problems with
electrical power. In addition, opening or tampering with the product casing, or any physical damage,
abuse or alteration to the product’s surface, including all warranty or quality stickers, product serial
or electronic numbers will also void the product warranty. Transcend is not responsible for
recovering any data lost due to the failure of a hard drive device. Transcend’s USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter must be used with devices that conform to the recommended industry
standards. Transcend will not be liable for damages resulting from a third party device that causes
the Transcend USB 3.0 ExpressCard Adapter to fail. Transcend shall in no event be liable for any
consequential, indirect, or incidental damages, lost profits, lost business investments, lost goodwill,
or interference with business relationships as a result of lost data. Transcend is also not responsible
for damage or failure of any third party equipment, even if Transcend has been advised of the
possibility. This limitation does not apply to the extent that it is illegal or unenforceable under
applicable law.
