Series R™ Chiller
R’newal™ Service Program
Renew your equipment performance and reliability
Model RTAA, RTAC, RTUA, RTWA, RTUD, RTWD
The Trane exclusive R’newal™ service program is
tailored for RTAA, RTAC, RTUA, RTWA, RTUD, and
RTWD Series R™ chillers. It is a comprehensive service
solution designed to restore your chiller compressor
performance and reliability. This program oers a lowcost alternative to an expensive peak season failure.
The Trane R’newal service extends the chiller life,
restores performance and provides you with the peace
of mind of knowing your equipment is covered with
a new factory warranty.
Three Reasons to Consider
Financial savings
The R’newal process oers a cost-eective solution
to restoring your chiller performance while providing
the same reliability seen with a new Trane Series R
chiller. The R’newal breathes new life into your chiller,
resulting in lower overall life-cycle costs. Also, restored
performance means increased energy eciency and
reduced operating cost for the chiller.
Reliable operation
If you need reliable chiller operation, it makes more
sense to take a proactive approach with the Trane
R’newal program, a planned event, than to deal with an
unexpected failure when you need your chiller the most.
A planned service activity can help you avoid expenses
for replacement parts and extended lead times during
the peak-cooling season.
Compliance with environmental issues
The R’newal process can greatly reduce the likelihood
of accidental refrigerant leaks, because all existing unit
refrigerant seals and gaskets are replaced as part of the
process.

Flexible Solutions
Ideal Conditions for R’newal
We understand the importance of having your
equipment on line. That’s why we will perform a
thorough unit evaluation to determine when your unit
is ready for an R’newal. We then plan the process
around your business needs to minimize facility
disruptions. Whether the R’newal is being performed
as a proactive measure or reactive after a compressor
failure, we oer customized solutions to t your
schedule. This is an exchange compressor program,
which means your chiller will not be taken oine until
the replacement compressor is on site.
Our account manager will work with you to determine
if R’newal is the right solution for you. Trane has
developed an exclusive evaluation tool to analyze your
needs based on hours of operation, starts and stops,
seasonal shut-downs, and years of use.
Further evaluations could include an eddy current tube
inspection (both the evaporator and the condenser
tubes are checked) to evaluate the heat exchangers.
The heat exchanger tubing is subject to a number
of problems, the nature of these usually being a
characteristic of the material and application. It is
critical to check for corrosion and material damage
due to mechanical stress or vibration.
• Chillers with a signicant number of run hours per year
• Chillers with frequent start and stop routines, which
put additional stress on the components
• Processes and installations sensitive to downtime
• Customers with budget constraints for capital
investment but available funds for maintenance
• Customers who are sensitive to environmental
issues can reduce the loss of refrigerant over the
life of the chiller and help protect the environment
Program Benets
Renewed chiller
Helps minimize downtime, extends life of the
equipment, reduces operational costs and increases
environmental protection.
OEM expertise
The R’newal service program requires a high level
of technical expertise, coupled with special tooling
and xtures necessary for compressor removal,
disassembly, repair and reassembly. This kind of
expertise can be best provided by the R’newal service
program oered only through Trane service locations.
As standard procedure, we will check all wearsensitive parts such as gaskets, valves, o-rings,
piping and lters. If these parts do not meet current
specications, they will be replaced with new
components. A new serial number will be issued for
parts identication and future product support. Finally,
the chiller is run-tested and oil and refrigerant samples
are sent to Trane Analytical Services.
