1912 Midland Metal Spinners was founded by
George Cadman, who was then 65 years old, as
a metal holloware manufacturing company, in St.
Mark’s Street, Wolverhampton. They later moved
into the Tower and Fort Works in Pelham Street,
which ultimately gave rise to the famous Tower
brand name.
1937 Tower exhibited some of their latest holloware
designs at the British Industries Fair. As you can
see from the original poster, their stand No. A410
must have been a great sight as it promoted their
“Beautiful, inexpensive, untarnishable Plate, at
prices all can afford to pay”.
1961 Tower became one of the largest
manufacturers of aluminium holloware, electric
kettles, tea pots and other household articles with
over 1,000 employees.
1974 Russell Hobbs took ownership of the
expanding Tower brand.
Thrifty, Easy & Healthy Soup
Soup is a well-loved, popular dish, whether served
as a starter or a light meal in itself. However,
making your own soup is often a long, laborious
process involving standing over a hot stove. The
Tower Glass Soup Maker cuts this process down,
doing all the hard work for you.
Thrifty: One great benet of making your own soup
is that nothing goes to waste. Experiment with
your leftovers in the soup maker, for a variety of
different tastes. Soup freezes well, so you never
need to worry about making too much in your
Tower Soup Maker. Let it cool, portion it up and
stick it in the freezer to enjoy whenever you wish.
Easy: For the ultimate in easy cooking, the Tower
Glass Soup Maker heats, cooks and blends the
soup for you. The one pot style saves you from
extra washing up. It’s brilliant for batch cooking
too, allowing you to make more than 1 litre of soup
at a time.
Healthy: With the Tower Soup Maker you’re in
control of exactly what you eat. Soup is high in
nutrient density, meaning it’s low in calories and
high in nutrients. When you make your own soup,
you’re choosing what vegetables and avours you
include. Using the Tower Glass Soup Maker means
no additives or articial avours, and unlike tinned
soup, no high sodium content.

3USINGYOURAPPLIANCE
The Tower Glass Soup Maker is ideal for chunky and smooth soup that serves up to 4 people. Auto functions allow you to stand back as healthy nutritious meals are made for you in under 30 minutes and the blend function means your soup can be perfected to your taste.
1. Begin by washing your vegetables, and peeling any with hard skin (i.e. potatoes, carrots).
2. Chop your ingredients into pieces no larger than 1.5 – 2.5cm.
3. Remove the lid of your Tower Soup Maker and add all ingredients into the serving jug. Top up the ingredients with cold water. Ensure all of your ingredients do not surpass the soup max ll line on the glass jug.
4. To reach the minimum soup ll line, you will need 250g of chopped vegetables and 17 oz liquid. For the maximum amount of soup, add 400g chopped vegetables and 41 oz of liquid.
5. Note: You can use the pulse button at the end of cooking to ensure your soup is made to your desired consistency.
6. Once all of your ingredients have been added to the Soup Maker, place the lid back on the serving jug, making sure it is securely in place.
7. Plug the Soup Maker in. When the Soup Maker is plugged in, a beep will sound. Select the Start/Stop button, the lights on the control panel will now begin to ash.
8. Choose your desired function. The Soup Maker will work automatically. When the soup has cooked, a series of beeps will be emitted.
9. Unplug the Soup Maker and remove the lid, being careful to avoid any steam that it may omit. Using the handle, pour the soup into bowls to serve.
4Functions:
There are three program buttons and a pulse function. The program buttons are chunky soup, smooth soup, simmer/boil. Pulse is a manual function, with many uses ranging from creating smoothies to blending your soup to the perfect consistency.
ChunkySoupFunction
The Chunky Soup function gives you wholesome thick soups in under 23 minutes.
1. Pre-wash any vegetables required for the recipe. Fill up the serving jug according to your recipe, ensuring it does not exceed the maximum volume. Add water to top up, keeping well within the min and max ll limits.
2. Plug your Soup Maker in and press the start button. Select the Chunky Soup function. The Soup Maker will now begin to heat your ingredients to a temperature of 98
o
C.
3. Once the temperature has been reached (after approximately 10 mins at full capacity), the soup maker will pulse once. It will continue cooking the soup and pulsing for another 10 minutes.
4. Just before the soup is nished, the Soup Maker will pulse the soup 2-3 times in quick succession. A series of beeps will sound once your soup is ready.

SmoothSoupFunction
The Smooth Soup function creates smooth tasty soups in under 23 minutes.
1. First, add water to the jug, once again staying between the min and max ll lines.
2. Add the food into the jug. When using fruit, ensure any thick skins are peeled and all fruit is cored. Cut into small pieces.
3. Fit the serving jug into place, and select the Smooth Soup button on the control panel.
4. The Soup Maker will then start to heat and blend 3 times, before nishing with a beeping noise.
Simmer/BoilFunction
The Simmer/Boil function allows you to boil water or heat up soup. Simply ll the serving jug above the minimum water level line, and press simmer/ boil.
PulseFunction
The versatile pulse function doesn’t only allow you to perfect soup to your preferred taste, it can also be used for a variety of different things such as smoothies, coulées and more.
1. Use the Pulse function to ensure your soup is blended to the perfect consistency for you. The function also works to create cold soups like gazpacho.
2. The manual Pulse function allows you to pulse your food in quick short bursts or for as long as you need. Simply press and hold the button on control panel. Release the button to stop the pulse function.
AutoClean
Add water with a small amount of washing up liquid to the jug. Ensure you do not exceed the max ll line. Hold down the pulse function to clean.
Note: Do not use an excess amount of washing up liquid.
TipsforgettingthemostoutofyourSoup Maker:
Prepare as many of your ingredients as possible in advance.
Add a little olive or vegetable oil and water to the bottom of the jug before adding ingredients that are high in starch or sugar, to avoid them burning to the bottom of the jug.
Once you’ve added all the ingredients to the jug, stir with a wooden spoon before turning the soup maker on.
Make a full batch of soup at a time and freeze your leftovers to enjoy later in the week. When freezing soup, leave it to chill overnight in the fridge before putting it into the freezer.
Layer softer, lighter ingredients like lentils or chopped tomatoes on top of heavier ingredients such as potato. This stops the lighter ingredients from being pressed down into the bottom of the jug and the blades too much.
If your soup seems too thin, lower the amount of liquid you are adding. Reducing the liquid will give you thicker soup.
Never ll the soup maker above the maximum ll line and always make sure it isn’t under the minimum ll line either. The Tower Glass Soup Maker is as easy to use as a kettle, and in this instance it abides by the same rules.
Do not use an excess amount of washing up liquid when using the self-clean function. A few drops will do.

HealthyOptionsforWholesomeSoup:
Using vegetable stock as your liquid addition gives the soup a great added avour.
Sauté onions and garlic in vegetable broth for a healthier option rather than oil before adding to your soup maker.
Certain vegetables increase in antioxidant content when they’re cooked. For a real health boost, make soups that include these vegetables: carrots, spinach, green and red peppers, asparagus, broccoli and red cabbage.
For a boost in your immune system include these ingredients in your healthy soups: garlic, sweet potatoes, tomatoes and kale.
Add potato to bulk up a soup, adding some energizing carbs and lling you up more.
Serving soup with hard boiled eggs is a tasty way to add a kick of protein.
Swap bacon and ham in potato soup recipes for cauliower which is rich in bre and full of b-vitamin nutrients. Sweet potatoes add vitamin A.
Garnishing with fresh basil, which is thought to ease stress and help with problem skin.
For low fat soups, replace crème fraîche or soured cream with low fat fromage frais
Always remember to season your soup with salt and pepper after cooking.
When you’ve nished cooking your soup and you’re getting ready to serve it, try adding some fresh soups or a dollop of fresh yoghurt or cream - the fresh ingredients will really highlight the delicious avours in the soup.
MakingStock
Good quality stock can help give soup a delicious, avourful taste. For some soups, you may wish to omit stock or broth, and just use
water. For others, a stock cube thrown in with the rest of the ingredients and topped up with water will do. Making your own stock is nutritious and economical.
For those recipes that you want to go the extra mile with, we’ve got a great basic vegetable stock recipe for you.
