Built-in compressor protection
Your thermostat has a feature that helps prevent damage to the compressor of
your air conditioning or heat pump system. Because damage can occur if the
compressor is restarted too soon after shutdown, this feature forces the
compressor to wait 5 minutes before restarting. During the wait time, the message
Cool or Heat flashe s on the screen. When the safe wait time has elapsed,
the message stops flashing and the compressor turns on.

Battery replacement
NOTE: Batteries are optional (serving as backup power) only if your thermostat is connected to 24 VAC.

Install two fresh AAA batteries when th e low-battery icon flashes
on the screen. The icon appears f or 60 days before the batteries
are depleted.
Replace batteries once a y ear, or when you will be aw ay fo r mor e
than a month.
The settings are stored in non-volatile (permanent) memory and
are thus preserved when the thermostat is without AC power or
batteries.
NOTE: The low-battery icon will not appear when the batteries are
depleted if the thermostat is connected to 24 VAC.
Set the System switch to Off before removing the batteries. Otherwise, the
heating/cooling system could remain activated even when batteries are
removed.

Screen is blank.• Check circuit breaker and reset if necessary.
Temperature settings cannot be
changed.
Cool or Heat is flashing.• The compressor protection delay has been activated. Wait for the
HI appears on the screen.• The ambient (measured) temperature is above 122 °F (50°C).
LO appears on the screen.• The ambient (measured) temperature is below 32 °F (0 °C).
E1 appears on the screen.• The temperature sensor circuit is opened . Replace the thermost at.
E2 appears on the screen.• The temperature sensor circuit is shorted. Replace the thermostat.
• Ensure the heating/cooling system is powered up.
• Ensure the furnace door is properly closed.
• Ensure two fresh AAA alkaline batteries are correctly installed.
•The System switch is off.
• Y ou are setting the temperatures outside their allowable ranges:
• Heat: 40 °F to 90 °F (4.5 °C to 32 °C).
• Cool: 50 °F to 99 °F (10 °C to 37 °C).

TWO-YEAR WARRANTY — This CARRIER CORPORATION product is warranted to be free from
defects in material and workmanship under normal use and maintenance for a period of two years from
date of original installation. A new or remanufactured part to replace the defective part will be provided
without charge for the part itself, through a qualified servicing CARRIER CORPORATION dealer or
service, PROVIDED the defective part is returned to our distributor. The replacement part assumes the
unused portion of the warranty.
THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY ADDITIONAL LABOR ALLOWANCE OR OTHER
COSTS incurred for diagnosis, repairing, removing, installing, shipping, servicing or handling of either
defective parts or replacement parts. SUCH COSTS MAY BE COVERED BY a separate warranty
provided by the installer.
