Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateorservice
theequipment.Localregulationsmayrestricttheageof theoperator.
Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsiblefor

Preparation
Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand
attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved bythemanufacturer.

Removeequipmentfromthetruckortrailerandrefuelit
ontheground.Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuch equipmentwithaportablecontainer,ratherthanfroma fueldispensernozzle.
Keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthefueltank
orcontaineropeningatalltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete. Donotuseanozzlelockopendevice.
Iffuelisspilledonclothing,changeclothingimmediately.
Neveroverllfueltank.Replacefuelcapandtighten
securely.
Maintenanceandstorage
Disengagedrives,setparkingbrake,stopengineand
removekeyordisconnectspark-plugwire.Waitforall movementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaningorrepairing.
Cleangrassanddebrisfromcuttingunit,drives,mufers,
andenginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuel spillage.
Letenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstorenear
ame.

TowingSafety
Donotattachtowedequipmentexceptatthehitchpoint.
Followtheattachmentmanufacturer'srecommendation
forweightlimitsfortowedequipmentandtowingon slopes.Towedweightmustnotexceedtheweightofthe machine,operator,andballast.Usecounterweightsor wheelweightsasdescribedintheattachment,orinthe pullingmachineOperator’ sManual.
Neverallowchildrenorothersinorontowedequipment.
Onslopes,theweightofthetowedequipmentmaycause

Thefuelwindowlocatedbelowtheoperatorpositioncanbe usedtoverifythelevelofgasolineinthetank(Figure7).
MotionControlLevers
Themotioncontrolleversarespeedsensitivecontrolsof independentwheelmotors.Movingaleverforwardor backwardturnsthewheelonthesamesideforwardorin reverse;wheelspeedisproportionaltotheamountthelever ismoved.Movethecontrolleversoutwardfromthecenter totheneutrallockpositionandbeforeexitingthemachine (Figure4).Alwayspositionthemotioncontrolleversintothe neutrallockpositionwhenyoustopthemachineorleave itunattended.
ParkingBrakeLever
Theparkingbrakeleverislocatedonleftsideoftheconsole (Figure4).Thebrakeleverengagesaparkingbrakeonthe drivewheels.Pulltheleverupandrearwardtoengagethe brake.Pushtheleverforwardanddowntodisengagethe brake.
Theignitionswitchhasthreepositions:Start,RunandOff. ThekeywillturntoStartandmovebacktoRunuponrelease. TurningthekeytotheOffpositionwillstoptheengine; however,alwaysremovethekeywhenleavingthemachineto preventtheenginefromaccidentallystarting(Figure5).
ThrottleControl
ThethrottlecontrolisvariablebetweenFastandSlow. Movingthrottleleverforwardwillincreaseenginespeedand movingthrottlelevertotherearwilldecreaseenginespeed. Movingthethrottleforwardintothedetentisfullthrottle (Figure5).
Choke
Usethechoketostartacoldengine.Pullthechokeknobup toengageit.Pushdownonthechokeknobtodisengageit.
BladeControlSwitch(PowerTake-Off)
Thebladecontrolswitch,representedbyapowertake-off (PTO)symbol,engagesanddisengagespowertothemower blades(
Figure5).
FootPedalDeckLiftSystem
Thefootpedaldeckliftsystemallowstheoperatortolower andraisethedeckfromtheseatedposition.Theoperatorcan usethefootpedaltoliftthedeckbrieytoavoidobstacles orlockthedeckinthehighestheight-of-cutortransport position(Figure4).
Height-of-CutLever
Theheight-of-cutleverworkswiththefootpedaltolockthe deckinaspeciccuttingheight.Onlyadjusttheheightofcut whilemachineisnotmoving(Figure4).

AddingFuel

Forbestresults,useonlyclean,fresh(lessthan30days
old),unleadedgasolinewithanoctaneratingof87or higher((R+M)/2ratingmethod).
Ethanol:Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol(gasohol)
or15%MTBE(methyltertiarybutylether)byvolume isacceptable.EthanolandMTBEarenotthesame. Gasolinewith15%ethanol(E15)byvolumeisnot approvedforuse.Neverusegasolinethatcontains morethan10%ethanolbyvolume,suchasE15 (contains15%ethanol),E20(contains20%ethanol),or E85(containsupto85%ethanol).Usingunapproved gasolinemaycauseperformanceproblemsand/orengine damagewhichmaynotbecoveredunderwarranty.
