Checkthatallguardsandsafetydevices,suchasdeectors
and/orgrasscatcher,areinplaceandworkingproperly.
Alwaysinspectthemachinetoensurethattheblades,

Inspecttheareawhereyouwillusethemachineand

Oxygenatedfuelwithupto10%ethanolor15%MTBE
byvolumeisacceptable.
Ethanol:Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol(gasohol)
or15%MTBE(methyltertiarybutylether)byvolume isacceptable.EthanolandMTBEarenotthesame. Gasolinewith15%ethanol(E15)byvolumeisnot approvedforuse.Neverusegasolinethatcontainsmore than10%ethanolbyvolume,suchasE15(contains15% ethanol),E20(contains20%ethanol),orE85(contains upto85%ethanol).Usingunapprovedgasolinemay causeperformanceproblemsand/orenginedamage whichmaynotbecoveredunderwarranty.

Donotoperatethemachinewhileill,tired,orunderthe

Thebladeissharp;contactingthebladecanresultin
seriouspersonalinjury.Shutofftheengineandwaitfor allmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating position.
Whenyoureleasetheblade-controlbar,theengineshould
shutoffandthebladeshouldstopwithin3seconds.If not,stopusingyourmachineimmediatelyandcontactan AuthorizedServiceDealer.
Operatethemachineonlyingoodvisibilityand
appropriateweatherconditions.Donotoperatethe machinewhenthereistheriskoflighting.

Useextremecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,

Watchforholes,ruts,bumps,rocks,orotherhidden
objects.Uneventerraincouldcauseaslip-and-fall accident.
Stopthemachineandinspectthebladesafterstrikingan
objectorifthereisanabnormalvibrationinthemachine. Makeallnecessaryrepairsbeforeresumingoperation.
Beforeleavingtheoperatingposition,shutofftheengine,
removethekey,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
Iftheenginehasbeenrunningthemuferwillbehotand
canseverelyburnyou.Keepawayfromthehotmufer.

Note:Whenyoupulltherecoil-starthandle,pullit lightlyuntilyoufeelresistance,thenpullitsharply (Figure18).Allowtheropetoreturntothehandle slowly.

StoppingtheEngine

Handle
Thetraction-assisthandle(Figure20)allowsyoutouseyour handstocontrolthespeedofthemachineinsteadofyour walkingspeed.Thisishelpfulforturningtightcorners andgoinguphills,whereyouwantthemachinetomove butcannotmoveyourself.Itisalsousefulformowingat maximumspeed.

Tostoptheengine,releasetheblade-controlbar.
