INSTALLATION
INSTRUCTIONS
This drive kit contains parts and instructions to modify the idler assembly of 42” snowthrowers on 260 series Yard Tractors.
When installing a 42” snowthrower it is necessary to follow these instructions to replace the belt idlers and tension spring on the idler assembly. Then follow the new, enclosed, Operator’s Manual; Installation procedure and mount the snowthrower onto the tractor.

Note: When installing new idler assembly (the one with the movable hook) to the tractor, use clevis pin and
hairpin cotter from loose parts bag or idler assembly with snowthrower (the one with the welded wire form hook).

Installation Instructions
Transfer “V” Idler Pulley
1. Remove “V” idler pulley from idler assembly in
snowthrower (the one with the welded wire form hook) (Fig. 1). Transfer the “V” idler pulley onto the kit idler assembly (the one with the movable hook) using same hardware (Fig. 1).
Note: Idler hub extension must be facing slot
and it rotate freely.
2. Insert bolt into the center of the adjustment slot.
3. Torque idler bolt to.280 in.-lb. (31.6 Nm).

Transfer Flat Idler Assembly
1. Remove flat idler pulley from idler assembly in
snowthrower (the one with the welded wire form hook).
2. Remove retainer,spring and rod from idler
assembly in snowthrower (the one with the welded wire form hook) by unscrewing the large square retainer at the end.(Fig. 2).
3. Transfer rod,spring and retainer to the kit idler
assembly (the one with the movable hook) and thread retainer on al the way.
4. Transfer the flat idler pulley onto the rod in kit
idler assembly (the one with the movable hook)
using same hardware (Fig. 3). Note: Idler hub extension must be facing slot
and it rotate freely.
Note: Spacer shoulder extension must be in
slot and slide freely.
5. Torque idler bolt to.280 in.-lb. (31.6 Nm).
6. Push on spring retainer to check for free
movement of rod in slot (Fig. 3).
