Using blowout baffle
Installing the Grass Deflector
at the factory. You will need to install the grass deflector before using this machine in side discharge mode.
An uncovered discharge opening could allow the lawn mower to throw objects in the operator’s or bystander’s direction and result in serious injury. Also, contact with the blade could occur.
Never operate the lawn mower unless you install a grass deflector, a mulch plate, or an entire grass catcher assembly.
1. Place spacer and spring onto grass deflector.
Using Side Discharge Blades
2. Place the grass deflector onto deck. Place the
“L” end of spring behind deck edge. Note: Make sure the “L” end of spring is
installed behind deck edge before installing the bolt as shown in figure 1.
3. Install bolt and nut. Place “J” hook end of spring
around grass deflector (Fig. 1).
IMPORTANT: The grass deflector must be able to lower down into position. Lift the deflector up to test that it lowers into the full down position.

Side discharge blades are used when in side discharge mode only.
Refer to Installing and Removing Blades in the maintenance section of the operator manual.
IMPORTANT: Do not use side discharge blades while in recycling mode.

Using Blowout Baffles
The blowout baffles are used when in side discharge mode only.
Refer to Installing and Removing Blowout Baffles in the operation section of the operator manual.
IMPORTANT: Do not use blowout baffles while in recycling mode.
