Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationofthe
equipment,operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Inspecttheareawhereyouwillusethemachine
andremoveallobjectsthatcouldinterferewiththe operationofthemachine.
Knowandmarkthelocationsofallutilitylines.
Checkthattheoperator'spresencecontrols,safety
switches,andshieldsareattachedandfunctioning properly.Donotoperatethemachineunlessthey arefunctioningproperly.
Locatethepinchpointareasmarkedonthe
machineandkeephandsandfeetawayfrom theseareas.
Donotcarrypassengersonthemachineandkeep
bystandersandchildrenoutoftheoperatingarea.
Ensurethattheareaisclearofbystandersbefore
operatingthemachine.Shutoffthemachineifa bystanderentersthearea.
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,engagethe
parkingbrake,andshutofftheengine.Waitforall movementtostopandallowthemachinetocool beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoring themachine.
FuelSafety
Useextremecareinhandlingfuel.Itisammable
anditsvaporsareexplosive.
Extinguishallcigarettes,cigars,pipes,andother
sourcesofignition.
Useonlyanapprovedcontainer.
Donotremovethefuelcaporllthefueltank
whiletheengineisrunningorhot.
Donotaddordrainfuelinanenclosedspace.

Ifyouspillfuel,donotattempttostarttheengine;
avoidcreatinganysourceofignitionuntilthefuel vaporshavedissipated.
Donotllcontainersinsideavehicleoronatruck
ortrailerbedwithaplasticliner.Alwaysplace containersontheground,awayfromyourvehicle beforelling.
Removetheequipmentfromthetruckortrailer
andrefuelitwhileitisontheground.Ifthisisnot possible,thenrefuelfromaportablecontainer ratherthanafuel-dispensernozzle.
Keepthefuel-dispensernozzleincontactwith
therimofthefueltankorcontaineropeningat alltimesuntilfuelingiscomplete.Donotusea nozzle–lock-opendevice.
AddingFuel
Forbestresults,useonlyclean,fresh(lessthan
30daysold),unleadedgasolinewithanoctane ratingof87orhigher((R+M)/2ratingmethod).
Gasolinewithupto10%ethanol(gasohol)or15%
MTBE(methyltertiarybutylether)byvolumeis acceptable.EthanolandMTBEarenotthesame. Gasolinewith15%ethanol(E15)byvolumeis notapprovedforuse.Neverusegasolinethat containsmorethan10%ethanolbyvolume,such asE15(contains15%ethanol),E20(contains 20%ethanol),orE85(containsupto85% ethanol).Usingunapprovedgasolinemaycause performanceproblemsand/orenginedamage whichmaynotbecoveredunderwarranty.
DANGER
Incertainconditions,fuelisextremely ammableandhighlyexplosive.Areor explosionfromfuelcanburnyouandothers andcandamageproperty.
Fillthefueltankoutdoors,inanopenarea, whentheengineiscold.Wipeupanyfuel thatspills.
Neverllthefueltankinsideanenclosed trailer.
Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull. Addfueltothefueltankuntilthelevelis6 to13mm(1/4to1/2inch)belowthebottom ofthellerneck.Thisemptyspaceinthe tankallowsfueltoexpand.
Neversmokewhenhandlingfuelandstay awayfromanopenameorwherefuel fumesmaybeignitedbyaspark.
Storefuelinanapprovedcontainerand keepitoutofthereachofchildren.Never buymorethana30-daysupplyoffuel.
Donotoperatewithoutentireexhaust systeminplaceandinproperworking condition.
Donotusegasolinecontainingmethanol.
Donotstorefueleitherinthefueltankorfuel
containersoverthewinterunlessyouuseafuel stabilizer.
Donotaddoiltogasoline.

Whenpractical,removefuel-powered equipmentfromthetruckortrailerand refueltheequipmentwithitswheelsonthe ground.
Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuch equipmentonatruckortrailerfroma portablecontainerratherthanfroma fuel-dispensernozzle.
UsingStabilizer/Conditioner
Usefuelstabilizer/conditionerinthemachinetokeep thefuelfreshlongerwhenusedasdirectedbythe fuel-stabilizermanufacturer.
Important:Donotusefueladditivescontaining
methanolorethanol.
Addtheamountoffuelstabilizer/conditionertofresh fuelasdirectedbythefuel-stabilizermanufacturer.
FillingtheFuelTank
Fuel-tankcapacity:40.1L(10.6USgallons)
1.Cleantheareaaroundthefuel-tankcap.
2.Removethecap.
3.Addfueluntilitisatthebottomofthellerneck.
Note:Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.
Theemptyspaceinthetankallowsthefuelto expand.
4.Installthecap.
Ifyoumustuseafuel-dispensernozzle, keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimof thefueltankorcontaineropeningatall timesuntilfuelingiscomplete.
WARNING
Fuelisharmfulorfatalifswallowed. Long-termexposuretovaporscancause seriousinjuryandillness.

andcrossingroadsandsidewalkswiththe machine.Alwaysyieldtheright-of-way.
Operatetheengineonlyinwell-ventilatedareas.
Exhaustgasescontaincarbonmonoxide,which islethalifinhaled.
Neverleavearunningmachineunattended.
Operatethemachineonlyingoodvisibilityand
appropriateweatherconditions.Donotoperate themachinewhenthereistheriskoflightning.
Beawareofobstaclesincloseproximitytoyou.
Failuretomaintainadequatedistancefromtrees, walls,andotherbarriersmayresultininjuryasthe machinebacksupduringoperationifyouarenot attentivetothesurroundings.
Donotoverloadthehopperandalwayskeepthe
loadlevelwhenoperatingthemachine.
SlopeSafety
Slopesareamajorfactorrelatedtoloss-of-control
andtip-overaccidents,whichcanresultinsevere injuryordeath.Y ouareresponsibleforsafeslope operation.Operatingthemachineonanyslope requiresextracaution.Beforeusingthemachine onaslope,dothefollowing:
–Reviewandunderstandtheslopeinstructions
inthemanualandonthemachine.
–Evaluatethesiteconditionsofthedayto
determineiftheslopeissafeformachine operation.Alwaysusecommonsense andgoodjudgmentwhenperformingthis evaluation.Changesintheterrain,suchas moisture,canquicklyaffecttheoperationof themachineonaslope.
Raisingthehopperonaslopeaffectsthestability
ofthemachine.Keepthehopperinthelowered andstraightpositionwhenonslopes.
Whenoperatingonaslope,foldtheplatformup
andwalkbehindthemachineuntilitisonat ground.
Operateupanddownslopeswiththeheavy
endofthemachineuphill.Weightdistribution changeswithafullhopper.Afullhoppermakes thefrontofthemachinetheheavyend,sowhen travelingupordownslopeswithafullhopper,walk behindthemachinewiththefullhopperuphill.
Identifyhazardsatthebaseoftheslope.Do
notoperatethemachineneardrop-offs,ditches, embankments,waterorotherhazards.The machinecouldsuddenlyrolloverifawheelortrack goesovertheedgeortheedgecollapses.Keep asafedistance(twicethewidthofthemachine) betweenthemachineandanyhazard.
Avoidstarting,stopping,orturningthemachineon
aslope.Avoidmakingsuddenchangesinspeed ordirection;turnslowlyandgradually.
Keepallmovementsonslopesslowandgradual.
Donotmakesuddenchangesinspeedor direction.
Donotoperatethemachineunderanyconditions
wheretraction,steering,orstabilityisinquestion. Beawarethatoperatingthemachineonwetgrass, acrossslopesordownhillmaycausethemachine

tolosetraction.Lossoftractiontothewheelsor tracksmayresultinslidingandalossofbraking andsteering.Themachinecanslideevenifthe wheelsortracksarestopped.
OperatingtheThrottle
ThethrottlecontrolmovesbetweenFASTandSLOW positions(Figure7).
Removeormarkobstaclessuchasditches,holes,
ruts,bumps,rocksorotherhiddenhazards.T all grasscanhideobstacles.Uneventerraincould overturnthemachine.
Ifyoulosecontrolofthemachine,stepoffand
awayfromthedirectionoftravelofthemachine.
OperatingtheParking Brake
Alwaysengagetheparkingbrakewhenyoustopthe machineorleaveitunattended.Beforeeachuse, checktheparkingbrakeforproperoperation.
CAUTION
Childrenorbystandersmaybeinjuredifthey moveorattempttooperatethemachinewhile itisunattended.
Removetheignitionkeyandengagethe parkingbrakewheneveryouleavethe machineunattended.
EngagingtheParkingBrake
AlwaysusetheFASTpositionwhenmovingthe machine.

Prop65warningsarerequiredunderCalifornialawonly.ThesewarningsareseenthroughoutCaliforniainawiderangeofsettings,includingbutnot limitedtorestaurants,grocerystores,hotels,schools,andhospitals,andonawidevarietyofproducts.Additionally,someonlineandmailorder retailersprovideProp65warningsontheirwebsitesorincatalogs.

HowdotheCaliforniawarningscomparetofederallimits?
Prop65standardsareoftenmorestringentthanfederalandinternationalstandards.TherearevarioussubstancesthatrequireaProp65warning atlevelsthatarefarlowerthanfederalactionlimits.Forexample,theProp65standardforwarningsforleadis0.5μg/day,whichiswellbelow thefederalandinternationalstandards.

WhydoesToroincludethiswarning?
Torohaschosentoprovideconsumerswithasmuchinformationaspossiblesothattheycanmakeinformeddecisionsabouttheproductstheybuyand use.T oroprovideswarningsincertaincasesbasedonitsknowledgeofthepresenceofoneormorelistedchemicalswithoutevaluatingthelevelof exposure,asnotallthelistedchemicalsprovideexposurelimitrequirements.WhiletheexposurefromT oroproductsmaybenegligibleorwellwithinthe “nosignicantrisk”range,outofanabundanceofcaution,T orohaselectedtoprovidetheProp65warnings.Moreover,ifT orodoesnotprovidethese warnings,itcouldbesuedbytheStateofCaliforniaorbyprivatepartiesseekingtoenforceProp65andsubjecttosubstantialpenalties.
