spinning.Ifyoucontactthecuttinglineorcuttinghead,

•Keepthecuttingheadawayfromyourfeetand
bystanders.
•Ensurethatthecuttingheadhasstoppedandthe
trimmerisunpluggedbeforeinvertingit.Donot
startthetrimmerwhenitisinverted.

•Wearsafetygogglesorothersuitableeye

Toreducelinewearandimprovetrimmingperformance,usethe
followingtechniqueswhentrimming:
•Inspecttheareatobetrimmedforanywire,rope,orstring-like
matterwhichcouldbecomeentangledintherotatingline.
Removeanyobjectsordebristhatcouldbethrownbythe
trimmer.
•Trimonlywhenthegrassandweedsaredry.
•Slowlymovethetrimmerinandoutoftheareabeingcut
(Figure5).
Toincreasethelengthoftheline,tapthespoolontheground
whilethetrimmerisrunning(Figure6).

•T apthespoolonlyoncetolengthentheline.Ifyouneed

•Donotallowthelinetoweartooshort.
•Keepthelinelengthatfullcuttingdiameterasmuchas
possible.
•Ifthelineisnotadvancedoccasionally,itwillweardowntothe
eyelet.Whenthetrimmerstops,thelinetendstorelaxand
mayretractintothecutterhead.Shouldthisoccur,remove
thespool,re-feedthelinethroughtheeyelet,andassemble
thespooltothetrimmer.

diameternylonmonolament,10ft.maximumline

Thespoolmaywearduringnormaluseandrequireoccasional
replacement.
Note:Ifthelineshouldtangleorbreakattheeyelet,stopthe

CAUTION

(eitherneworre-wound)andholdthelineandspoolto
preventthelinefromunraveling.

4.Ifyouarewindinganewlineontotheoldspool,complete
thefollowingsteps:
A.Hookoneendoflineintotheslotonthespool,allowing
nomorethan3mm(1/8inch)toprotrude,andpush
theendofthelineallthewaytotheinnerendofthe
slot.
B.Windthelineinthedirectionofthearrowonthespool,
inlevelrows,betweenthespoolanges(Figure8).

DisposingoftheBattery
Whenthebatterynolongerholdsacharge,youcanpurchasea
newbatteryandhaveitinstalledbyanAuthorizedServiceDealer.
Ifyouwanttodiscardthetrimmer ,removeandrecyclethebattery
beforediscardingthetrimmer.
1.Removethe8screwsthatsecurethetwohalvesofthe
handlesectiontogetherandpullthehalvesapart.
2.Removethebatteryanddisconnectitfromthewireleads.
3.Discardthetrimmer.
4.Recyclethelead-acidbatteryaccordingtolocalcodes.

Maintenance
Aftereachuseofthetrimmer,dothefollowing:
•Wipethetrimmercleanwithadampcloth.Donothosethe
trimmerdownorsubmerseitinwater.
•Wipeorscrapecleananyaccumulationofdirtorcuttingsfrom
thetrimmerheadandspool.
•Checkandtightenallfasteners.Ifanypartisdamagedor
lost,repairorreplaceit.
•Removeanydebrisawayfromairintakevents(Figure11).
