Chargethebatteryfor24hoursoruntilthechargelightonthe
chargerisgreenbeforetherstuseandaftereachusethereafter.
Important:Alwayschargethebatteryaftereachuse.Storing
theunitwithadischargedbatterywillreducethelifeofyour
battery.Thislead-acidbatteryhasnomemoryanddoesnot
needtobefullydischargedbeforecharging.

WARNING
Whenthetrimmerisrunning,thecuttingheadis
spinning.Ifyoucontactthecuttinglineorcuttinghead,
youcouldbeinjured.
•Keepthecuttingheadawayfromyourfeetand
bystanders.
•Ensurethatthecuttingheadhasstoppedandthe
trimmerisunpluggedbeforeinvertingit.Donot
startthetrimmerwhenitisinverted.
WARNING
Duringoperation,thetrimmermaythrowobjectsinthe
operator'sorabystander'sdirection,causinginjury.
•Wearsafetygogglesorothersuitableeye
protection,longpants,andshoeswhileoperating
thetrimmer.
•Donotusethetrimmerasanedger.
•Keeppeopleandpetsawayfromthetrimmingarea.
Toreducelinewearandandimprovetrimmingperformance,use
thefollowingtechniqueswhentrimming:
•Inspecttheareatobetrimmedforanywire,rope,orstring-like
matterwhichcouldbecomeentangledintherotatingline.
Removeanyobjectsordebristhatcouldbethrownbythe
trimmer.
•Trimonlywhenthegrassandweedsaredry.
•Slowlymovethetrimmerinandoutoftheareabeingcut
(
Figure5).
Toincreasethelengthoftheline,tapthespoolontheground
whilethetrimmerisrunning(Figure6).

Important:Takethefollowingprecautionstoensureoptimal
lineperformance:
•Donotholdthespoolontheground.
•Tapthespoolonlyoncetolengthentheline.Ifyouneed
additionalline,waitafewsecondsbeforetappingthespool.
•Donotallowthelinetoweartooshort.
•Keepthelinelengthatfullcuttingdiameterasmuchas
possible.
•Ifthelineisnotadvancedoccasionally,itwillweardowntothe
eyelet.Whenthetrimmerstops,thelinetendstorelaxand
mayretractintothecutterhead.Shouldthisoccur,remove
thespool,re-feedthelinethroughtheeyelet,andassemble
thespooltothetrimmer.

monolament,itcouldcutthroughclothesandskin
causinginjuryand/oroverloadthemotor,possibly
causingareorelectricalshock.Donotusemetal
wire,rope,plasticknives,oranycuttinglineormaterial
otherthanToro.065inchdia.nylonmonolament,10
footmaximumlinelength.
Thespoolmaywearduringnormaluseandrequireoccasional
replacement.
Note:Ifthelineshouldtangleorbreakattheeyelet,stopthe
trimmer,removethespoolasdescribedbelow,feedtheline
throughtheeyelet,andreassemblethespooltothecuttinghead.

CAUTION
Ifyoudonotfullyinstallthespoolandcap,thetrimmer
couldthrowthemduringoperation,causinginjuryto
theoperatororbystanders.Ensurethatyoufullyinstall
thespoolandcap,withthetwolockingtabsonthecap
securedinthespoolhousing.
1.Pressinthetabsoneachsideofthecap(Figure7).

Thetrimmerwillnotfunctionproperlyifthelineiswound
inthewrongdirection,theendofthelineprotrudes
morethan1/8inch,orthelineiswoundbeyondthe
outeredgesofthespool.
5.Unwindnomorethan3inchesoflinefromspool(eithernew
orre-wound)andholdthelineandspooltopreventtheline
fromunraveling.
6.Whileholdingthelineandspool,placethecaponthespool.
7.Insertthelineintotheeyelet,aligningthecaptabswiththe
slotsinthecutterhead.
8.Pressinthetabsandpushdownthecapandspooltolock
thecapinplace(Figure9).

Maintenance
Aftereachuseofthetrimmer,dothefollowing:
•Wipethetrimmercleanwithadampcloth.Donothosethe
trimmerdownorsubmerseitinwater.
•Wipeorscrapecleananyaccumulationofdirtorcuttingsfrom
thetrimmerheadandspool.

•Checkandtightenallfasteners.Ifanypartisdamagedor
lost,repairorreplaceit.
•Removeanydebrisawayfromairintakevents(Figure11).

Storage
Foridleperiodsofmorethanamonth,disconnectthecharger
fromthepoweroutletandtrimmerafterthetrimmerisfully
charged.Donotstorethetrimmerwiththechargerpluggedin.
Storingthetrimmerinawarmareawilldecreasethebatterylife.If
youmuststorethetrimmerinawarmarea,chargethebatteryfor
24hoursevery2to3monthsduringstorage.
Important:Keeptheairintakeventsfreeofgrassand
debristopreventthemotorfromoverheating.
