3.Powertooluseandcare
A.Donotforcethepowertool.Usethecorrectpower
toolforyourapplication.Thecorrectpowertoolwill dothejobbetterandsaferattherateforwhichitwas designed.
B.Donotusethepowertooliftheswitchdoesnotturn
itonandoff.Anypowertoolthatcannotbecontrolled
withtheswitchisdangerousandmustberepaired.
C.Disconnecttheplugfromthepowersourcefrom
thepowertoolbeforemakinganyadjustments, changingaccessories,orstoringpowertools.Such
preventivesafetymeasuresreducetheriskofstarting thepowertoolaccidentally.
D.Storeidlepowertoolsindoors,outofthereachof
children,anddonotallowpersonsunfamiliarwith thepowertoolortheseinstructionstooperatethe powertool.Powertoolsaredangerousinthehandsof
untrainedusers.
E.Maintainpowertools.Checkformisalignmentor

shouldbeprovidedonthecircuit(s)oroutlet(s)tobe usedforthepowertool.Receptaclesareavailable havingbuilt-inGFCIprotectionandmaybeusedfor thismeasureofsafety.
B.Toreducetheriskofelectricshock,thispowertoolhas
apolarizedplug(onebladeiswiderthantheother) andwillrequiretheuseofapolarizedextensioncord. Thepowertoolplugwilltintoapolarizedextension cordonlyoneway .Iftheplugdoesnott,obtaina correctpolarizedextensioncord.Apolarizedextension cordwillrequiretheuseofapolarizedwalloutlet.This

5.Service
A.Haveyourpowertoolservicedbyaqualiedrepair
personusingonlyidenticalreplacementparts.
Thiswillensurethatthesafetyofthepowertoolis maintained.
B.Ifthecordisdamaged,itmustbereplacedbythe
manufacturer,itsauthorizedserviceagentoran authorizedservicedealerinordertoavoidhazard.

6.PoleSawSafety
A.Keepallpartsofthebodyawayfromthesawchain.
Donotremovecutmaterialorholdmaterialtobe cutwhenthesawchainismoving.Ensurethatthe switchisoffandthepowersourceisdisconnected whenclearingjammedmaterial.Thesawchain continuestomoveaftertheyouturnofftheswitch. Beforeyoustartthepolesaw,ensurethatthe sawchainisnotcontactinganything.Amoment
ofinattentionwhileoperatingpolesawsmaycause entanglementofyourclothingorbodywiththesaw chain.
B.Carrythepolesawbythehandlewiththesawchain
stopped.Whentransportingorstoringthepole saw,alwaystthesawchaindevicecover.Proper
handlingofthepolesawwillreducepossiblepersonal injuryfromthesawchain.
C.Holdthepowertoolbyinsulatedgrippingsurfaces
only,becausethesawchainmaycontacthidden wiring.Sawchainscontactinga″live″wiremaymake
exposedmetalpartsofthepowertool″live″andcould giveyouanelectricshock.
D.Donotusethepolesawinbadweatherconditions,
especiallywhenthereisariskoflightning.This
decreasestheriskofbeingstruckbylightning.
E.Toreducetheriskofelectrocution,neverusenear

Tipcontactinsomecasesmaycauseasuddenreverse reaction,kickingtheguidebarupandbacktowardyou.
Pinchingthesawchainalongthetopoftheguidebar maypushtheguidebarrapidlybacktowardyou.
Eitherofthesereactionsmaycauseyoutolosecontrol ofthesaw,whichcouldresultinseriouspersonalinjury . Donotrelyexclusivelyuponthesafetydevicesbuiltinto yoursaw.Asapolesawuser,youshouldtakeseveral stepstokeepyourcuttingjobsfreefromaccidentor injury.
Kickbackistheresultoftoolmisuseand/orincorrect operatingproceduresorconditionsandcanbeavoided bytakingproperprecautionsasgivenbelow:
Maintainarmgrip,withthumbsandngers
encirclingthepolesawhandles,withboth handsonthehandleandpositionyourbody andarmtoallowyoutoresistkickbackforces.
Kickbackforcescanbecontrolledbytheoperator, ifproperprecautionsaretaken.Donotletgoof thepolesaw.
Useonlyreplacementbarsandchainsspecied
bythemanufacturer.Incorrectreplacementbars andchainsmaycausechainbreakageand/or kickback.
Followthemanufacturer’ssharpeningand

Decreasingthedepthgaugeheightcanleadto increasedkickback.
