Becomefamiliarwiththesafeoperationoftheequipment,
operatorcontrols,andsafetysigns.
Alloperatorsandmechanicsshouldbetrained.The
ownerisresponsiblefortrainingtheusers.
Neverletchildrenoruntrainedpeopleoperateorservice
theequipment.Localregulationsmayrestricttheageof theoperator.
Onlyadultsandmatureteenagersshouldoperatean
aerator,andevenmatureteenagersshouldhaveadult supervision.Besureateenager:
1.hasreadandunderstandstheOperator'sManualand recognizestherisksinvolved;
2.issufcientlymaturetousecaution;and
3.isofsufcientsizeandweighttooperatethe controlscomfortablyandtomanagetheaerator withouttakingrisks.
Theowner/usercanpreventandisresponsiblefor
accidentsorinjuriesoccurringtohimselforherself,other peopleorproperty.
Preparation
Evaluatetheterraintodeterminewhataccessoriesand
attachmentsareneededtoproperlyandsafelyperform thejob.Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapproved byToro.
Wearappropriateclothingincludingsafetyglasses,
substantialfootwear,longtrousers,andhearing protection.Donotoperatewhenbarefootorwhen wearingopensandals.Longhair,looseclothingorjewelry maygettangledinmovingparts.

Thismachineproducessoundlevelsinexcess of85dBAattheoperator’searandcancause hearinglossthroughextendedperiodsof exposure.
Wearhearingprotectionwhenoperatingthis machine.
Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeusedand
removeallrocks,toys,sticks,wires,bones,andother foreignobjectswhichcanbethrownbythemachineand maycausepersonalinjurytotheoperatororbystanders.
DANGER
Incertainconditionsgasolineisextremely ammableandvaporsareexplosive.
Areorexplosionfromgasolinecanburnyou, others,andcausepropertydamage.
Fillthefueltankoutdoorsonlevelground,in
anopenarea,whentheengineiscold.Wipe upanygasolinethatspills.
Neverrellthefueltankordrainthemachine
indoorsorinsideanenclosedtrailer.
Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.Fill
thefueltanktothebottomofthellerneck. Theemptyspaceinthetankallowsgasoline toexpand.Overllingmayresultinfuel leakageordamagetotheengineoremission system.
Neversmokewhenhandlinggasoline,and
stayawayfromanopenameorwhere gasolinefumesmaybeignitedbyspark.
Incertainconditionsduringfueling,static electricitycanbereleasedcausingasparkwhich canignitegasolinevapors.Areorexplosion fromgasolinecanburnyouandothersand causepropertydamage.
Alwaysplacegasolinecontainersonthe
groundawayfromyourvehiclebeforelling.
Donotllgasolinecontainersinsidea
vehicleoronatruckortrailerbedbecause interiorcarpetsorplastictruckbedliners mayinsulatethecontainerandslowtheloss ofanystaticcharge.
Whenpractical,removegas-powered
equipmentfromthetruckortrailerandrefuel theequipmentwithitswheelsontheground.
Ifthisisnotpossible,thenrefuelsuch
equipmentonatruckortrailerfroma portablecontainer,ratherthanfroma gasolinedispensernozzle.
Ifagasolinedispensernozzlemustbeused,
keepthenozzleincontactwiththerimofthe fueltankorcontaineropeningatalltimes untilfuelingiscomplete.
WARNING
Gasolineisharmfulorfatalifswallowed. Long-termexposuretovaporshascausedcancer inlaboratoryanimals.Failuretousecaution maycauseseriousinjuryorillness.
Avoidprolongedbreathingofvapors.
Storegasolineinanapprovedcontainerand
keepitoutofthereachofchildren.
Addfuelbeforestartingtheengine.Never
removethecapofthefueltankoraddfuel whenengineisrunningorwhentheengine ishot.
Iffuelisspilled,donotattempttostartthe
engine.Moveawayfromtheareaofthespill andavoidcreatinganysourceofignition untilfuelvaporshavedissipated.
Donotoperatewithoutentireexhaustsystem
inplaceandinproperworkingcondition.
Keepfaceawayfromnozzleandgas
tank/containeropening.
Keepawayfromeyesandskin.
Neversiphonbymouth.
Checkthattheoperator'spresencecontrols,safety
switches,andshieldsareattachedandfunctioning properly.Donotoperateunlesstheyarefunctioning properly.

WARNING
Operatingengineparts,especiallythemufer, becomeextremelyhot.Severeburnscanoccuron contact,anddebris,suchasleaves,grass,brush, etc.,cancatchre.
Allowengineparts,especiallythemufer,to coolbeforetouching.
Removeaccumulateddebrisfrommuferand enginearea.
Engineexhaustcontainscarbonmonoxide,which isanodorlessdeadlypoisonthatcankillyou.
Donotrunengineindoorsorinasmallconned areawheredangerouscarbonmonoxidefumescan collect.
Operateonlyindaylightorgoodarticiallight,keeping
awayfromholesandhiddenhazards.
Lightningcancausesevereinjuryordeath.Iflightning
isseenorthunderisheardinthearea,Donotoperate themachine;seekshelter.
Besurealldrivesareinneutralandparkingbrakeis
engagedbeforestartingengine.
Neveroperatethemachinewithdamagedguards,shields,
orcovers.Alwayshavesafetyshields,guards,switchesand otherdevicesinplaceandinproperworkingcondition.
Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingoroverspeed
theengine.
Parkmachineonlevelground.Stopengine,waitforall
movingpartstostop,removekeyandengageparking brake:
Beforechecking,cleaningorworkingonthemachine.
Afterstrikingaforeignobjectorabnormalvibration
occurs(inspectthemachinefordamageandmake repairsbeforerestartingandoperatingthemachine).
Beforeclearingblockages.
Wheneveryouleavethemachine.
Stopengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,andengage
parkingbrakebeforerefueling.
Hands,feet,hair,clothing,oraccessoriescan becomeentangledinrotatingparts.Contact withtherotatingpartscancausetraumatic amputationorseverelacerations.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutguards,
shields,andsafetydevicesinplaceand workingproperly.
Keephands,feet,hair,jewelry,orclothing
awayfromrotatingparts.
Nevercarrypassengers.Donotoperatethemachine
whenpeople,especiallychildren,orpetsareinthearea.
Bealert,slowdownandusecautionwhenmakingturns.
Lookbehindandtothesidebeforechangingdirections.
Raisethetines,slowdown,andusecautionwhencrossing
surfacesotherthangrassandwhentransportingthe machinetoandfromtheworkarea.
Donotoperatethemachineundertheinuenceof
alcoholordrugs.
Useextremecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachine
intoatrailerortruck.
Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,
orotherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
SlopeOperation
Useextremecautionwhenaeratingand/orturningonslopes aslossoftractionand/ortip-overcouldoccur.Theoperator isresponsibleforsafeoperationonslopes.
DANGER
Operatingonwetgrassorsteepslopescancause slidingandlossofcontrol.Wheelsdroppingover edges,ditches,steepbanks,orwatercancause rollovers,whichmayresultinseriousinjury,death ordrowning.
Donotoperateonslopeswhengrassiswet.
Donotoperateneardrop-offsornearwater.
Donotoperateonslopesgreaterthan15degrees.
Reducespeedanduseextremecautionon slopes.
Avoidsuddenturnsorrapidspeedchanges.
Reducetinedownpressuretopreventthedrivetiresfrom
raisingoffthegroundandtopreventthefronttiresfrom raisingoffofthegroundwhileaeratinguphill.
RefertoFigure2todeterminetheapproximateslope
angleoftheareatobeaerated.
Removeormarkobstaclessuchasrocks,treelimbs,etc.
fromtheworkingarea.Tallgrasscanhideobstacles.
