Tightenanyloosenuts,boltsandscrewstoassure machineisinsafeoperatingcondition.Makesure Topdressertonguemountingpins,hitchpinsand tonguejackareinplaceandsecure.
Donotmodifythisequipmentinanymanner.
Donotoperatemachinewhilewearingsandals, tennisshoes,sneakersorshorts.Also,donot wearloosettingclothingwhichcouldgetcaught inmovingparts.Alwayswearlongpantsand substantialshoes.Wearingsafetyglasses,safetyshoes andahelmetisadvisableandrequiredbysomelocal ordinancesandinsuranceregulations.
WhileOperating
Donotruntheengineinaconnedareawithout adequateventilation.Exhaustfumesarehazardous andcouldpossiblybedeadly.
NEVERcarrypassengersontheTopDresserand keepeveryoneawayfromtheareasofoperation.
Keephandsandfeetoutofhopperwhenunitis operatingorengineisrunningontowvehicle.
Usecautionwhenoperatingtowvehicleona
steepslope.Normallytravelstraightupand downslopes.Reducespeedwhenmakingsharp turnsorwhenturningonhillsides.Avoidturning onhillsideswheneverpossible.
Useextracautionwhenoperatingtowvehicleon
wetsurfaces,athigherspeedsorwithafullload. Stoppingtimewillincreasewithafullload.Shift intoalowergearbeforestartingupordowna hill.
Avoidsuddenstopsandstarts.Donotgofrom
reversetoforwardorforwardtoreversewithout comingtoacompletestop.
Donotattemptsharpturnsorabruptmaneuvers

Alwaysyieldtherightofwaytopedestriansand othervehicles.Thismachineisnotdesigned foruseonstreetsorhighways.Alwayssignal yourturnsorstopearlyenoughsootherpersons knowwhatyouplantodo.Obeyalltrafcrules andcheckforlocalregulationsontheoperation ofthetopdresseronornearhighways.
Alwayswatchoutforandavoidlowover-hangs

Maintenance
Beforeservicingormakingadjustmentstothe topdresser,stopengineoftowvehicle,setparking brakeandremovekeyfromenginetoprevent accidentalstartingoftheengine.
Performonlythosemaintenanceinstructions describedinthismanual.Ifmajorrepairsare everneededorassistanceisdesired,contactan AuthorizedTORODistributor.
Besuremachineisinsafeoperatingconditionby keepingnuts,boltsandscrewstight.
Makesureallhydrauliclineconnectorsaretight,and allhydraulichosesandlinesareingoodcondition beforeapplyingpressuretothesystem.
Keepbodyandhandsawayfrompinholeleaks inhydrauliclinesthatejecthighpressurehydraulic uid.Usecardboardorpapertondhydraulic leaks.Hydraulicuidescapingunderpressurecan penetrateskinandcauseinjury.Fluidaccidentally injectedintotheskinmustbesurgicallyremoved withinafewhoursbyadoctorfamiliarwiththis formofinjuryorgangrenemayresult.

TrailerBrakesarehighlyrecommendedwhenusing theTopDresser2500inhillyterrain.Whenfully loadedthetopdressermayweighasmuchas3500lbs. (GVW).Thisweightiswellovertherecommended towingandbrakinglimitofmostutilityvehicles. Aspecialtrailerbrakekitisavailablefordirect installationwiththeWorkman(3000/4000)vehicle. MobilEAL224Hdoesnotcontainhazardous substancesreportableunderCERCLA.Sincealloil spillsarereportable,evenaspillofthisvegetable oil-basedproductmustbereportedtotheNational ResponseCenter(theU .S.CoastGuard).Local environmentalagenciesshouldalsobeconsultedto clarifylocalrequirements.
Acceptablemethodsofdisposalincludeuseasafuel supplement,recyclingandreclamation(thatis,the samedisposalpracticesavailableforconventional mineraloils).SinceMobilEAL224Htypically willnotbehazardouswaste,additionaldisposal optionsmaybeavailable,includinglandfarmingor processingthroughsewagetreatmentfacilities,if necessaryapprovalsareobtainedfromappropriate authorities.
Theushingsolutionmaynotbebiodegradable, therefore,itshouldbedisposedofinan environmentallysafemanner.Followprocedures usedfordisposingofconventionalmineraloils.

OperatingInstructions
TheT opDresser2500isgrounddriven,soitwill needtobetowedinordertocheckoutoperation ofbeltandbrush.Factorychecksareperformedon apoweredrollerdrum.
Topdressingworksbestat2to8milesperhour (mph).TheTopDresser2500compensatesfor variationsintravelspeed,andwillgiveconsistent distribution,eveniftravelspeedchangesduringa passacrossthegreen.Theoperator/superintendent shouldmakeagatesettingselection(variablein 1/8incrementsto13)andmakearstpassto determineifapplicationrateisacceptable.(seeSand ApplicationRate)
Operationbeginswhenthehandcontrolswitchis activated.Thismayrequiresomepracticetostart andstoptheowofmaterialatthedesiredcollar areaofthegreenorteebox.
Beforeloadinghopper,makesuretopdresseris properlyconnectedtotowvehicle,toprevent ip-uporanyunintendedtonguemovement.Do Notunhooktopdresserfromtowvehiclewith materialinhopper.Tonguemayipupcausing injury.

Dispersionisalwaysbestwithdrymaterial,butwet sandcanbespreadwiththespecialtractiongrip beltontheT opDresser2500.Someadjustmentto thegatesettingmayberequired,butthematerial shouldowoutandspreadrelativelysmoothand consistent.Ifanyslippageofthebeltappearsto beoccurring,checktheMaintenancesection;Belt adjustmentandclean-outprovisions.
Top-dressmixcanvaryingrainsizeaswellas moisture.Itcanalsocontainimpuritiesthatmay eitherdamagegreensmowersorplanttissue.Always controlthesourceoftop-dressmaterial,anduse carewhenhandlingandloading.
Asightwindowisprovidedontherightfront hopperpaneltomonitorremainingmaterialwhile topdressing.Itisgoodpracticetoglanceoveryour rightshoulderandcheckthehoppervolumebefore beginningapplicationtoassurethatyoudon’trun outinthemiddleofapass.
ThespecialoscillatingdriveaxlesontheTop Dresser2500weredesignedtocontinuepowering thehydraulicswhiletraversingoverundulations andirregularitiesinthesurfaceofthegreenor tee.Alwaysapproachseverebermsslowlytoavoid suddenimpactoftheaxleswiththeturf,andto
reducethepotentialofleavingtiremarksonthe approachtothegreen.

BleedingandPrimingofHydraulicSystem­Bleed/drainlinesareprovidedforthedrivepumpsand beltmotor.Thishelpspurgethesystemofair,hotoil andtocirculatecleanoilintothehydraulicdriveloops. inuenceinclude,butarenotlimitedto,weather,storagepractices, contamination,useofunapprovedcoolants,lubricants,additives, fertilizers,water,orchemicals,etc.
Normalnoise,vibration,wearandtear ,anddeterioration.
Normal“wearandtear”includes,butisnotlimitedto,damageto
seatsduetowearorabrasion,wornpaintedsurfaces,scratched decalsorwindows,etc.
Parts
Partsscheduledforreplacementasrequiredmaintenancearewarranted fortheperiodoftimeuptothescheduledreplacementtimeforthatpart. Partsreplacedunderthiswarrantyarecoveredforthedurationofthe originalproductwarrantyandbecomethepropertyofToro.Torowill makethenaldecisionwhethertorepairanyexistingpartorassemblyor replaceit.T oromayuseremanufacturedpartsforwarrantyrepairs.
NoteRegardingDeepCycleBatteryWarranty:
Deepcyclebatterieshaveaspeciedtotalnumberofkilowatt-hoursthey candeliverduringtheirlifetime.Operating,recharging,andmaintenance techniquescanextendorreducetotalbatterylife.Asthebatteriesinthis productareconsumed,theamountofusefulworkbetweencharging intervalswillslowlydecreaseuntilthebatteryiscompletelywornout. Replacementofwornoutbatteries,duetonormalconsumption,isthe responsibilityoftheproductowner.Batteryreplacementmayberequired duringthenormalproductwarrantyperiodatowner’sexpense.
MaintenanceisatOwner’sExpense
Enginetune-up,lubricationcleaningandpolishing,replacementof ItemsandConditionsNotCoveredlters,coolant,andcompleting RecommendedMaintenancearesomeofthenormalservicesT oro productsrequirethatareattheowner’sexpense.

RepairbyanAuthorizedT oroDistributororDealerisyoursoleremedy underthiswarranty .
NeitherTheToroCompanynorToroWarrantyCompanyisliablefor indirect,incidentalorconsequentialdamagesinconnectionwiththe useoftheT oroProductscoveredbythiswarranty,includingany costorexpenseofprovidingsubstituteequipmentorserviceduring reasonableperiodsofmalfunctionornon-usependingcompletion ofrepairsunderthiswarranty .ExceptfortheEmissionswarranty referencedbelow,ifapplicable,thereisnootherexpresswarranty .
Allimpliedwarrantiesofmerchantabilityandtnessforusearelimitedto thedurationofthisexpresswarranty .Somestatesdonotallowexclusions ofincidentalorconsequentialdamages,orlimitationsonhowlongan impliedwarrantylasts,sotheaboveexclusionsandlimitationsmaynot applytoyou.
